Ok, what the heck?! I was just reading over my last post & I came to the end with this sentence: After a few bites, enjoying the cold sensations on their tongues, Teddy took his sthingy and started creeping it over towards Roxy’s ice cream. Roxy saw what he was doing and took her sthingy and smacked it against his. Where it says "sthingy" it's supposed to say s.p.o.o.n! So I went in to change it & IT WON'T LET ME! It won't even let me just use one period in it. because it still comes out like this: s.thingy!!! So I'm gonna spell s.p.o.o.n with periods in it. lol sound good? good! haha and just so you know..I'll post an update soon. But I was hoping for a little more participationn from the readers [minus those who already commented! you get gold stars]. You don't have to leave me long comments..just a "hey, that was great!" will be fine with me!

Chapter 4
“Thanks so much for the ice cream, and just getting me to forget for a while how frustrated I felt.” Teddy said after he parked next to her car back at Fran’s. It was close to eight o’clock, and the sun was just setting, streaking the sky with different shades of pink.
“No problem. What are friend’s for?” Roxy unbuckled her seatbelt and had her hand on the door handle.
“So, we’re friends?” Teddy questioned. He really only asked it to get a rise out of her.
“Ok, acquaintances. Whatever floats your rubber ducky, Geiger.” She began getting out of the car, when Teddy burst out laughing. This girl certainly was something. Roxy turned around, and noticed his little giggle fit. “Note to self: no more sugar for Teddy after six.” With that, Teddy shut up. “Good night.” Roxy sang, smiling.
“Good night.” And then she closed the car door. He watched as she got in her car, making sure she was safe, and then began backing up to leave. They exchanged one last wave just before he drove off.
When Teddy was gone, Roxy pulled out his CD “Underage Thinking” she had borrowed from Emma and put it into the stereo. She figured she could find something on there to tease him about because she was finding it fun to taunt him a bit. But as she drove home, she was coming to grips with the fact that there wasn’t anything to tease him with on this record. It was amazing.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Good morning sunshine.” Emma said, taking her seat next to Roxy in English. She sounded way too perky for seven thirty in the morning.
“Right back at’cha.” Roxy smiled, yawning.
Emma turned to Roxy. “So guess who just asked me out for next Friday night?” She giggled bubbly.
“Brad Pitt?”
Emma’s smile disappeared. “Ew, no.”
Roxy laughed. “You told me to guess.”
“Yeah, but I hate Brad Pitt-stain. I’m totally Team Aniston.”
“Same here. Actually Brad Pitt gives me the willies.” Roxy gave a fake shutter of the body.
“Anywho, enough about him.”Emma’s smile soon returned. “It’s Ryan Matthews!” She squealed and some of their peers sitting around them shot her funny stares.
“Isn’t he the one who sits behind you in math?” Emma shook her head ‘yes.’ “Ooo la la. He’s cute!” Roxy said, excited for her friend. “I know! Please promise me you’ll help me get ready.” Emma put her hands together to beg.
“Of course I will!” Roxy said it as if there was no other option. Emma squealed again. “You’re the best!”
“So I’ve been told.” Roxy smiled, and Emma leaned over to give her a hug. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Roxy knocked on Emma’s front door, the night of the big date, equipped with all her make-up and a few articles of clothing of her own; just in case Emma decided she hated everything in her closet and went into a total meltdown mode before her date.
When the door opened, it was none other than Teddy himself, eating yet another banana, but this time he was wearing glasses.
“Do you ever eat at your own house?” Roxy teased, stepping into the house.
“My mom’s on this weird health food kick, and there’s nothing to eat in the house besides tofu and grape nuts.” Teddy made a gross face.
“Ah, say no more. My mom was on one of those last year.”
Teddy looked at all the stuff Roxy had brought over. “Planning on moving in?”
“Very funny, Geiger. It’s for Emma’s date tonight. I’m helping her get ready.”
“And she needs all that?” Teddy questioned, eyes wide.
“No. But I brought it all just in case.”
“It’s just a date.” Teddy started walking into the kitchen, so Roxy followed him.
“Yeah, but it’s their first date.”
“Your point?” Teddy asked, and took a bite of banana.
“Boys. You’re all clueless.” Roxy sighed, throwing her hands in the air, and then bounced up the stairs to Emma’s room. Teddy laughed as he watched her all the way up. He knew how stressed out he’d been on his first date with his ex. The sweaty palms, the constant worrying if his breath smelt fine, oh he knew it all. She had been his real first girlfriend, since he’d been practically terrified of girls until his sophomore year. He knew what Emma must be going through, but he would never admit it to Roxy. He just liked to mess with her. It was quite entertaining the way her blue eyes would roll when she was ready to give up.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“So where are you two going?” Roxy asked as she helped Emma find an outfit.
“Just dinner and a movie. I mentioned to him that I love Red Robins, so I think we’re going there.” Emma picked up a blue shirt, studied it for a few seconds, and placed it back on the bed.
“Ok, then you should dress casual, yet flirty.” Roxy looked over the clothes, and then pulled some things together. “Here.” She held up the tops. “Wear my brown shirt over your pink lacy tank top. The pink from the tank will bring out the pink embroideries on the brown top. And..” Roxy looked around. “These tattered jeans.” She picked up the jeans and handed them to Emma.
“Oh my gosh, you’re brilliant!” Emma took the clothes and ran into her bathroom to try them on. When she came out she looked fabulous.
“This is definitely the outfit!” Roxy squealed.
“I agree!” Emma stood in front of the mirror, admiring herself.
Roxy went over to Emma’s jewelry box and pulled out a necklace, earrings, and some bangle bracelets. “Put these on.” She said, handing them to Emma.
“What should I do with my hair?”
“Leave it like this. The curls are workin’ it tonight.” Roxy ran back to the vanity the jewelry box had been on, grabbed something, and then came back to Emma. “Here.” She slipped a pink plastic barrette shaped as a bow in her hair. “Perfect. Now, all we have to do is your makeup!”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Have fun you two!” Roxy shouted from the door, as Emma and Ryan made their way down the driveway. Emma waved and then Roxy disappeared into the house.
“Is Cinderella off with her Prince Charming?” Teddy asked, as Roxy made her way through the kitchen to get her things from Emma’s room. He was at the computer again with a cup of tea next to him.
“Yep, and she’s all smiles.” Roxy said, a bit proudly, knowing she had something to do with the outfit. She then dashed up the stairs to get her things, knowing Teddy was watching her go.
As Roxy made her way down the stairs, with all her make-up and clothes, she heard the piano playing again. She set the bags next to the front door, and walked in the living room. She recognized the melody he was playing. It was from his CD, but she couldn’t remember which song it belonged to until he began singing.
“The night air breathes but not so easy as before did you notice, did you take the time to listen to my breath or to my words when I spoke explain my feelings and my reasons for the way I love you I’m getting to the point
{chorus:} and I feel like I do even more now that I’m leaving well I feel just like I do when I’m with you
and she’s so sweet and I’m leaving thinking how I’m barely breathing notice how your every look gives me tingles and I wonder if you’re listening to what I’m thinking we won’t fade away" Roxy made her way to the end of the piano and just watched him play. "and I feel like I do even more now that I’m leaving and I feel just like I do when I’m with you and I feel like I do even more now that I’m leaving that I’m leaving you, I’m leaving you so what am I to do
my feelings have not fallen away you’re my every thought here everything will go on its own way everything is ok we can try to make it everything will go
it’s alright baby it’s alright baby it’s alright baby girl why don’t you say feelings have not passed away you’re my every thought here everything will"
As he sang, Roxy could tell his emotions were real. It was spelled out all over his face. So she just watched intensely, until he finished.
and I feel like I do even more now that I’m leaving and I feel just like I do when I’m with you and I feel like I do even more now that I’m leaving I’m leaving you so what am I to do”
“Night Air, right?” Roxy made her way to the bench and sat down next to him again.
“Yeah.” Teddy realized she must have heard his CD, to have known it was Night Air.
“Where did you come up with it?
“I wrote it right after my ex and I broke up.” Teddy sighed a little. “It’s been almost a year, but it ended on a bitter note.” Roxy just sat there listening, figuring he wasn’t finished talking about it. “When I went on tour, she kind of…I don’t know…got a little weird. She just didn’t trust me as much as I thought she did. Calling me up during shows and leaving me voicemails when I didn’t pick up, letting me know how annoyed she was with me. We’d been together for a long time, and I thought she was happy for me when all of it started happening. But I guess she just didn’t realize that it would mean me not being as available as I had always been in the past.” Teddy shrugged his shoulders. “So I broke it off. It was hard because I really cared about her, ya know? Then I came straight home and wrote this song.”
“I’m sorry.” Roxy gave a sympathetic smile. She didn’t know what else to say.
“I haven’t really thought about it that much anymore, and we haven’t talked in I don’t know how long, but I just got a letter and a gift from her today for my birthday.”
“Well, that was nice of her, wasn’t it? It means she still cares.”
“Yeah, I guess.” Teddy looked at Roxy for the first time since he started rambling. “But it also makes me realize that I may never find another girl that gets me like she did.”
“I know it’s not really my place, but if she ‘got’ you so well, then wouldn’t she realize this is your passion? Wouldn’t she realize that this is what you need to be doing and that just having you in her life was worth all the time apart?”
“Yeah, but somehow I can’t blame her. I said a bunch of things I regret and I will be the first to admit, I was a jerk.” They both sat in silence for a moment after he spoke.
“Don’t worry, Geiger, you’ll find someone. What’s meant to be, will be. I promise.”
Teddy gave a little laugh at himself. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have just dumped that on you.”
Roxy smiled. “Well, yeah, but I wasn’t going to stop you.” She nudged his shoulder, letting him know she was kidding, as well as trying to get him to smile. She succeeded.
“How do you always do that?” Teddy couldn’t keep his eyes off her.
“Do what?”
“Know how to make me relax and just…smile.”
Roxy smiled. “What can I say? It’s a gift. Plus,” She leaned in a bit closer to him, “if I told you, I’d have to kill you. And I don’t want to do that. It’s a messy job.” She winked at him before getting up from the bench, and grabbing her things next to the door. “Later Geiger.” And with that, she left.
Teddy sat at the piano after she was gone and just thought about her. He’d only known her two weeks, but realized that he felt more comfortable with her than he had with anyone, besides his family, in an extremely long time. She listened to his problems, never seeming to judge him, and then knew just what to do that would melt the world around him so he could forget about his worries, even for a split second.
And the way she acted around him. Very cool and collected. He could tell she was comfortable in her skin, and didn’t care what others thought of her. She was kind hearted and graceful, yet knew how to laugh and serve up a comeback.
Not to mention she was gorgeous. She didn’t wear a lot of makeup and didn’t need to. Her hair was blonde and wavy, which gave her that easy-going persona right off the bat. And he could look into her eyes all day. They sparkled blue, but when she was close enough, he could tell they had specks of green in them.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“So, you really had a good time?”Roxy asked again. Emma had called her after her date with Ryan to spill all the details.
“It was wonderful! He was such a gentleman the entire time. And that goodnight kiss!” Roxy could tell Emma was grinning from ear to ear on the other end.
“You kissed him on the first date?”
“How could I not?” Emma replied.
Roxy laughed, happy for her new friend. “Well, I am so excited for you. I’m glad you had a great time. Hey, do you want to hang out tomorrow? I have to work until three, but what about afterwards? Are you free?”
Emma paused to think. “We’re actually having a little party for Teddy’s birthday. You know, have family over and a few of his friends. You should come!”
Roxy was kind of caught off guard. “Oh, um, ok. Should I bring a present or something?” What the heck was she supposed to get a teenage boy? She only had a younger sister. She didn’t know what guys wanted for presents.
“Oh, no, you don’t need to get him anything. It’s just a very casual get together. Plus, he’s a bit hard to shop for. He never knows what he wants. I usually just end up buying his iTunes gift cards.” Emma laughed.
“Alright. I’ll probably come by around four, so I can go home a change before. I better get to sleep.” Roxy said, noticing her alarm clock read thirteen minutes after midnight. “My shift starts at nine.”
“Yeah, I need to get to bed too. Later.” Emma paused. “Oh, wait. The party is at Teddy’s house, which is right behind mine.”
“Oh, ok, thanks. Night, dear. Sweet dreams!”
“You too. Bye.”
Roxy hung up the phone, and snuggled under the covers, falling into a deep sleep, almost instantly after her head hit the pillow.

Chapter 5
It was a little after eleven on Saturday, and Fran had finally taught her how to use the espresso machine, which Roxy thought was exactly like the ones she’d used before, but she wasn’t about to tell Fran that. And of course, the day she becomes the barista, was the busiest day of the week. But then again, it was Saturday.
Roxy was making a drink, when she noticed Teddy standing at the pick-up counter. “Well, hello there, birthday boy!” Roxy smiled as she set the drink on the counter. “Caramel macchiato.” She yelled, and the women in front of Teddy grabbed the drink. “Thanks. Have a great day.” The woman just smiled as she left.
“Thanks. Did Em tell you it was my birthday?” Teddy asked, smiling.
“Well, yes, but I also found out from one of your fan sites.” She began working on his caramel apple cider. “It’s amazing what you can find on Google these days.” Roxy winked, teasing him, as he rolled his eyes and laughed.
“I can’t believe you Googled me.”
Roxy ignored his comment. “Do you know how many girls are in love with you?”
“Uh.” Teddy didn’t know what to say.
“But then again, they don’t know what a dork you really are.” Roxy stated in a sisterly tone, smiling as she set his drink on the counter.
Teddy put his hand over his chest, pretending to be hurt. “Stab in the heart.”
Roxy laughed. “Well, I don’t want you to get a big head now.”
Teddy sipped his drink. “Hey, so we’re having a little party for my birthday later today, would you like to come?”
“If you must know, it was already on my list. Emma invited me last night.”
Teddy smiled. “Good. I’ll see you later then.”
“See ya, Geiger.” Roxy watched him leave, and then continued with her work, but wondered why she couldn’t get his face out of her mind.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Roxy got off work a little late, and hurried back to her house, making one pit stop on the way. It was surprisingly warm outside for being the middle of September, so she decided to wear a cream colored skirt along with a green tank that brought out the green specks in her eyes, which she didn’t realize Teddy loved so much. She grabbed a white flowered broach with rhinestones and pinned it to the right side of her tank top, to give her casual outfit that slight touch of dressed up feel. She lightly touched up her makeup and her hair, grabbed her jean jacket and Teddy’s gift, and then ran out of the house, but not before giving her mother a kiss.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Hi, are you a friend of Teddy’s?” Mrs. Geiger asked after opening the door and saw Roxy standing on the porch.
“Yeah, hi, I’m Roxy Parker.” Roxy held out her hand and Mrs. Geiger shook it.
“That’s a lovely name. Is it short for Roxanne?”
“Actually Roxanna.” Roxy smiled, a bit shyly.
“Well, that’s even prettier.” Mrs. Geiger gestured for Roxy to come inside. “I’m Mrs. Geiger, Teddy’s mom, but you can call me Lorilyn, if you like.”
“Thanks.” Mrs. Geiger led Roxy through the house, introducing her to Teddy’s family on the way. By the time she saw Emma in the family room, she had already met three cousins, an uncle and his grandparents. They all seemed nice, and they didn’t ask too many questions, which made Roxy happy; she wanted to find Teddy.
“You’re here!” Emma squealed, jumping up from her seat, and giving Roxy a hug.
“Hey.” Roxy took off her jacket, setting it on top of her purse next to the couch. “Have you seen Ted? I want to give him his gift.” She asked, looking around.
Emma looked too. “Oh, I think he’s out back with his dad.” And then sat back down to talk to some girls. Probably more cousins.
Roxy retrieved the present from her purse; it wasn’t big, and headed to the sliding glass doors. As she walked, she could see Teddy on the porch, standing next to the barbeque, laughing. He was wearing light colored jeans with a hole on the knee, a brown t-shirt with some design printed on it, and his signature lime green converse. Roxy just become conscious of the fact that she found Teddy attractive with his messy brown hair, and bright blue eyes twinkling in the sun as he laughed again.
Roxy slipped through the door, and Teddy noticed her immediately.
“Hey there, Parker.” He said smiling, as he moved closer to her, embracing her in a hug. It was the first hug they had shared, and Roxy could smell the cologne he was wearing.
“Happy birthday, Ted.” Roxy handed him his gift.
“Oh, thanks, but you really didn’t have to get me anything.” Teddy smiled, starting to unwrap the present.
“Yeah, well, I did. It isn’t much though.”
When Teddy realized what it was, he smiled. It was a gift card to the ice cream shop they gone to the previous week. “Thank you.” He gave her another hug.
“I figured since I bought last time, you could buy this time.” She glanced up at his smile.
“Deal.” Teddy paused. “You want to meet a few people?”
“Sure.”
They turned around, and Teddy introduced her to his dad, John, his producer Billy Mann, and his guitarist, Evan. They stood there for a while, just talking while Mr. Geiger managed the grill. They were actually all pretty funny; Teddy and Evan cracking jokes constantly. They were just hilarious to watch. At the right moments, Roxy even got in a few jokes, which impressed Teddy to know that she was comfortable with herself around them. Most girls he knew would barely put in two words the first time they met Evan or Billy.
“Alright. I think these burgers and hot dogs are ready.” Mr. Geiger said, piling them onto two plates. Teddy and Roxy each grabbed a plate and headed into the house.
They placed the plates on the counter in the kitchen next to all the other food, and then Teddy yelled, “Food!” Sure enough, within seconds there was a long line forming in the kitchen. Luckily, Roxy and Teddy were already in there, so they grabbed food quickly, and left to go sit out on the porch. After a while, Emma, along with Teddy’s other cousin, Courtney, who had been with Emma in the living room, joined them.
“If I didn’t know any better, I would think that you like him more than me.” Emma said a bit pouty as she sat down, referring to Teddy.
Roxy looked at Teddy, and then back at Emma. “Who Geiger? No way, Em. You’re my favorite.” Emma smiled, satisfied.
“Oh, gee, thanks.” Teddy said, trying to act as if it had really hurt his feelings, as he put another sthingy full of potato salad in his mouth.
“Oh, did I hurt your feelings?” She said as if she was talking to a five-year-old. “I’m sorry. Forgive me?”
Teddy’s eyes perked up. “Okay, but only if you do something for me.”
Roxy looked at Emma cautiously, then back to Teddy with one eyebrow raised. “What did you have in mind?” Teddy smiled, almost evilly.
“Follow me.” He grabbed her hand and they all followed him to the living room. He picked up his acoustic guitar and handed it to Roxy. “Play me something.” Roxy just stared at him.
“Right now?” Thank goodness most of his family had migrated to the backyard.
“No, in two years.” He paused. “Of course right now!” And then he, along with Emma and Courtney sat down at the couch.
Roxy took a deep breath, thinking about what song to play. “Fine, I’ll play a song entitled “Most of Me” by Mandy Moore.” Roxy started strumming the guitar, and then opened her mouth to sing.
“I'm not ready to confront I'd rather cement my words this way This could be the easy road out But I'm just not all that happy So I'm writing all this down And I'll file it in a drawer someday In lieu of a conversation We'd probably forget to have anyway
I won't hold anything back And I won't hold anything in Feel like I know where this is going And I might know how it ends But I'm still Willing to begin"
Emma leaned over to Teddy, and whispered in his ear, “She’s amazing.”
"You should know my story by now And why I'm optimistic cautiously I understand it's not your fault But I'm not takin' anything back
You still end up with Most of me
I won't hold anything back And I won't hold anything in Feel like I know where this is going And I might know how it ends But I'm still Willing to begin"
After Teddy whispered something in her ear, Emma got up and walked outside.
"I expect you to fly from NY to LA And land on my doorstep And smile at me and say It was worth it to see most of me Do you love most of me?
You're just crossing paths With the way he left me I'm not sayin' a word But I'm watching you quietly You're gonna have to prove me wrong Before I know this is right We don't have to decide tonight Just wait for me patiently And you'll get all of me"
By now, Emma had come back in with Billy Mann by her side. He watched her, with a small smile, but Roxy tried not to look at him or it would make her nervous, knowing that he was Teddy’s producer, and the man who discovered him.
"I won't hold anything back And I won't hold anything in Feel like I know where this is going And I might know how it ends But I'm still Willing to begin"
When Roxy was finished with the song, everyone started cheering, so she took a few bows.
Emma practically skipped over to Roxy, squeezing her in a hug. “You were fabulous!”
“You really were.” Teddy smiled, giving her a hug as well.
“They’re right, you were great.” Billy joined them. “Have you ever thought about performing on stage?”
“All the time, but my dad’s pretty stern, I don’t think he’ll ever go for it.” Roxy sighed.
“Well, here’s my card. Talk it over with your parents, and call me anytime.”
Roxy took his card, looking it over. “Thanks!” She said excitedly.
“Well, I’ve got to be going. Happy birthday, Tedster. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Billy gave him one of those handshake-man-hugs, and then left.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Have you seen my studio?” Teddy whispered in Roxy’s ear, as they sat on the back deck. His family had been there for hours and Teddy wanted to do something other than listen to them talk about his and his cousin’s baby days.
His warm breath on her neck sent a chill up Roxy’s spine, but tried not to let it show. “No.” She smiled back. Teddy grinned, and grabbed her hand. They wouldn’t be missed for a few minutes. They slipped through the sliding glass doors and down stairs, almost unnoticed. However, Emma saw them leave and when the coast was clear; she went to see what was going on.
“This is it.” Teddy led her into the studio he had in his basement.
“It’s amazing!” Roxy’s eyes were filled with wonder. “I would kill for something like this!” Roxy grazed her fingers across the key board. She wandered around looking at everything as Teddy started to play a melody on the black and white keys.
“I live from midnight to about 5 in the morning. It’s when I get things done down here.”
Roxy smiled toward him from next to the stereo. “I’m a night owl too.” And then turned back to the piece of equipment and pushed play. Everlife’s song ‘Where You Are’ came through the speakers. Roxy loved this song. Teddy looked irritated. “My sister’s been down here again. I keep telling her this isn’t her playroom. Looks like I need to have another talk with her.”
Roxy laughed. “Well, until then, I need a dance partner.” She motioned for Teddy to join her on the slow song.
“I don’t dance.” Teddy laughed, refusing to move.
However, this didn’t stop Roxy. She walked over and took his hands, pulling him to his feet, placed his hands on her hips and then slid her arms around his neck. A bold move on her part, but Teddy actually didn’t mind.
Roxy smiled at him, their faces inches apart. “Everyone can dance.” She then placed her cheek next to his. Teddy closed his eyes, taking in the scent of her hair and the feeling in his stomach; which was almost like butterflies. Moments later, she began singing along softly to the song and Teddy gladly listened.
Without being seen by either of them, Emma tip toed her way down the stairs and saw the two through the studio window, dancing. This was a total picture op, so she bounced up the stairs to grab her camera.
“Are you having a good birthday so far?” Roxy asked, pulling her head back so she could see Teddy’s eyes.
“Yeah, I am. It’s nice to see all my family. Thanks again for coming.” Teddy slid his left hand up Roxy’s right arm and took her hand. Holding it, he gently spun her out and then back in.
Roxy had a pleasantly surprised look on. Teddy smiled. “What? I said I don’t dance. That doesn’t mean I don’t know how.”
Roxy laughed softly. “Well, you had me fooled.” Staring into his eyes, the song was slowly coming to an end. Just then, Emma took the picture and a flash went off, scaring the two inside the studio.
Emma smiled at them both, knowing she had been caught. “I thought the flash was off.” And quickly ran upstairs, leaving Roxy and Teddy laughing.
