"Teddy, you friggin' eloped, ok?!" I yelled at him. "And I didn't freak out about you, so I would appreciate it if you'd just let me do my thing now."
"It's not the same." He said quietly as he stared at his hands. I wasn't sure how he had managed to be in the wedding, but somehow he was a groom's man.
"How the hell is it not the same?!"
"You're... Bailey. You're you, and you can't just get married. It's not... right."
"It's not right that I'm getting married or it's not right that it's not to you?" I shot back and he just looked at me silently. I was right. "You have Alyssa. She's great, ok? Let this fantasy of you and me go, because I can't be that girl anymore, Ted. I've grown up and made my decisions. Please?"
He nodded silently as he moved from where he was leaning against the wall in my hallway. Alyssa and Tallie were out picking up their bridesmaid's dresses, and Jon was at the school for a meeting, so that left the two of us here.
"I am getting married tomorrow. Please just be happy for me."
He stood in front of me and smiled sadly as he touched my cheek with his hand. "Only if you're happy."
I smiled. "Thank you."
----------
"I can only imagine what awkward moment is going on over at Jon's," I laughed. "I don't even want to know how awkward he would be in front of a stripper. That would be something I would laugh at."
Tallie and Alyssa laughed at me as we wondered what our husbands -- well my soon-to-be husband -- were doing with their "guy's night".
"I'm going to bed, guys." I yawned as I made my way to my room.
"We'll be in here with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere," Alyssa called. "They make great company."
"I'm sure they do, but not when you're exhausted." I smiled. "Goodnight."
----------
The wedding went off without a single hitch. No one had a reason for us not to get married, and soon we were Mr. & Mrs. Jonathan Ryan.
"Your dress is so pretty. Simple, but pretty," Brooke gushed. "I never thought you'd get married before me."
I laughed. "Yeah, me either."
She smiled at me. "I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to be an aunt, by the way, so start popping out those babies."
I rolled my eyes at her. "Only you would say something like that."
"Well you are married now." Alyssa interjected. "Most girls ten years younger than you are popping those things out like hot cakes."
I gave them both strange looks. "I'm going to pretend neither of you just said that. Talk amongst yourselves, I have to talk to the Mother-in-law."
Mrs. Ryan, Tina, was a sweet woman. She reminded me a lot of my Mom, only she wasn't single and she stayed at home. She didn't look anything like either of her children, but she was still beautiful.
"Hey sweetheart," she smiled at me and gave me a hug. "I knew it would be you. I heard so much about you, and even though I didn't meet you until a week ago, I was so happy. You're even more beautiful than I imagined."
I smiled at her. "Thank you."
"No thanks needed, it's the truth." She smiled at me. "Oh, look, it's time for you two to head out to the limo." She winked at me and I couldn't help but smile. Her personality was so friendly and inviting.
Everyone lined up along the sidewalk of the building where we held our reception, and lit their sparklers. I had seen someone do this before, and decided it was a neat idea.
Both of us walked to the limo, arms linked, where Teddy held the car door open for us to climb in. I gave him a quick hug and he smiled sadly back as he shut the door.
----------
The day we arrived home, there were quite a few messages left on our machine, mostly from Tallie, who couldn't contain her excitement, for she was having yet another screaming child. Ok, so screaming was an exaggeration. Dallas and Lorelei were actually quite nice as babies, but once they were both able to talk to each other, that was when I started to dislike them. I was simply glad that they were not my own.
I was at a loss of an explanation for why she didn't just call my cell phone. I wouldn't have cared for her to call me while I was just simply laying by the pool burning my skin to a crisp, which was usually gone by the next day.
We had decided on moving into the apartment I had been living in by myself. It was slightly larger, and closer to campus.
As soon as I'd heard the message, my thoughts drifted to the discussion I had with Alyssa and Brooke before the honeymoon.
Over the course of our trip, I had made a decision to have a baby before I found a job at one of the hospitals. It just seemed to make sense that way.
I think I had done more planning on my honeymoon than I had ever done in my life.
Man, was I glad to be home.

we could like somehow mix our writing skills together. because, i definititley wrote a song about mozzarella once. we could like start this amazing band
i was reading a blog or something about how girls at a teddy concert were throwing socks on the stage when he says "so take off your shoes and socks and stay awhile" wouldn't it be funny if someone threw a shoe and it like hit him. well it wouldn't be funny. it'd actually be kind of bad. but wow of course i'll probably be the first moron to try it only cause we're eloped.

We couldn't have kids. We had been trying since the day we got married, but for some reason, all attempts were failing. I had seen a doctor, and everything was fine, except for the fact that the chances of Jon and I conceiving together were slim to none.
"It's ok," he told me on the way home from the doctor. "We can always adopt."
I shook my head. "It's not the same, Jon."
"I know. I'm sorry," he said as he rested his hand on my knee.
There were always fertility treatments, but those were way too expensive for us. I had actually been pregnant once, but it had been too soon for me to say anything, and I ended up losing it within the first two months.
"I was actually pregnant once," I confessed.
"When?"
"About four months ago. I didn't say anything because it was so early," I told him. "And since we had been trying for so long, I didn't want to jinx it."
He looked at me sadly. "It'll be ok."
He wiped a tear off my cheek before giving me a quick kiss on the lips. "Let's go to bed. It's been a bad day."
----------
Jon had just left for the college when Teddy knocked on my door that morning. "Are you ok?"
"What do you mean?"
He gave me a look like he could see right through me.
"What do you want to know?"
"Well how come you didn't tell anyone you guys are having trouble making babies?" He asked curiously and I gave him a look. He held up his hands. "Us guys talk too. We give each other advice and listen... It's like cheap therapy. Especially since Jon's got the doctorate. Anyway, he told me the other night when you were buying groceries."
"Does anyone else know?"
He shook his head. "Only me."
I was amazed at how much they trusted each other. I had thought that they'd be envious of each other, but none of that had ever occured.
"It'll be ok," he smiled at me as he moved to sit next to me and wrapped his arm around me. "I promise."
"Thanks Ted." He looked in my eyes and I didn't know what to do when he kissed me.
It was a simple kiss, with nothing attached. "It'll be ok." He stood to leave, without another word.
"Bye?" I said after he had closed the door. I was so confused. I couldn't be doing this again. Why did he have to walk in here and tell me everything he knew, only to kiss me and then leave?
