He was silent for a minute, except for the small nervous chuckle he had let out as soon as she said it. Of course she hadn't meant that she was madly in love with him and wanted to marry him or anything. What she had meant was that she loved him as her best friend and as a person and wanted to see if a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship would work out between the two of them.
Of course, he didn't take it that way. "Of course you do!" He laughed nervously. "Who wouldn't want me? I'm Teddy Geiger!"
She rolled her eyes before tiredly replying, "Whatever, Ted."
"So how about another guitar lesson tomorrow?" He suggested and she shrugged.
"Whatever."
"Is something wrong?"
She rolled her eyes and laughed silently to herself. "Nope."
"Ok. Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Bye."
Her back was to him, but she could tell he was lingering by the door. Which was somewhat ironic since 'Linger' by The Cranberries was playing.
She turned it up to ignore him, hoping he would get the hint and leave. She was a little upset with him, and really didn't want him there anymore.

She called Amie about an hour later to tell her about what had happened and to her opinion on it. But she wasn't going to get much advice from Amie tonight.
"I was just about to call you!" She sounded excited. "Guess what..."
"What?"
"Jake asked me out on a date!" She was so happy, and Becca couldn't help but be happy for her.
"That's great. He's the skater kid, right? The one who looks like Ryan Sheckler?"
"That's the one!" She could tell Amie was bouncing up and down with excitement.
"If you're going to do that go to your own room," she heard Chase say in the background in a grumpy tone and she couldn't help but feel bad for him, since she was also grumpy and had to listen to someone who was more than happy. "I'm going out." She heard him say and she chuckled as she heard him get off his squeaky bed and open the creaking door.
"Grumpy gills over here is getting on my nerves." Amie laughed and Becca couldn't help but laugh as she remembered the time Chase had called her the same thing.
"Well, I guess I'm going to get off here. I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow and Teddy's coming over for a guitar lesson."
"Ok, well I'll talk to you later." They hung up the phone and Becca thought about calling Teddy to talk, but decided against it and called Julie instead.
"Hey Jules," she said as her cousin answered the phone.
"Is something wrong?"
"Sort of." Becca answered and explained everything to her.
"Well it sounds like he needs to hear it straight. No flirty hints that will coax him into saying it first. Because I know that's what you're hoping for."
"You know me too well. I should have called Tim."
"Tim knows it too. He acts dense, but he's got quite a brain up there. When he's not drinking, of course." Julie told her.
"He's drinking again?"
"No, just the occasional. But anyway- what you need to do is just say 'Hey Teddy, I want to talk to you about something' and then sit down and have a serious conversation."
"Ok. Thanks Julie. Bye."
As soon as she hung up, her phone rang again, and she couldn't help but laugh as she answered it. "Hello?"
"Hey it's Chase. Can you open your window?"
"What are you psycho?" Becca laughed at him.
"No, I just heard your conversation and I'm not in the best mood either so I figured... ya know... we could have a little pity party together."
She lifted up her blinds and came face-to-face with him. "You're lucky it's Saturday night."
