She didn't speak to any of her friends all weekend. She knew that if she had spoke to Amie, Amie would just have pushed the Teddy-Chase debate further, while Chase would have made remarks and comments that would only make her like him more, while Teddy... He'd just be Teddy.
While she spent most of her weekend catching up on homework, she also managed to re-arrange her room and clean out her Jeep.
"Come on Mags, lets go for a walk," she said as she carried Maggie's leash into the living room.
Maggie wagged her tail in excitement before racing to the door and back to Becca again before getting her leash attached to her harness.
"Silly girl," Becca laughed as she grabbed her coat and scarf before exiting the house.
Her phone vibrated in her pocket, and instead of completely ignoring it without looking at the caller ID first, she checked to see who it was. Seeing that it was Tim, she answered it.
"Hey Tim."
"Why do you sound so... depressed?" Leave it to Tim to tell you like it is.
"I don't know. I'm just... so... confused, I guess."
"Ya wanna talk about it?"
"Not right now." She said honestly, and he didn't press her any further.
"So I ran into Julie and Heidi the other day at the gas station and they told me you were going to Europe with Lill and you were going to be a manager of one of her stores in California."
She smiled embarrassedly. "Yeah."
"That's pretty awesome." She had never known Tim to be quite this talkative.
"Yeah." She sighed.
"So I guess I should tell you why I called." He stated. "Lyla and I are going to get married."
"Wow."
"Yeah, she's pregnant." Tim informed her.
"Is that the only reason you're marrying her?"
"Well... No. I mean I love her, I really do, and no offense, but I've always seen myself with her."
"None taken. I always knew it. In fact I always thought it was why you dated me. Because we sort of resembled each other." It was true. The two of them favored so much that it was almost eerie. "But you don't have to respond to that. But I think I should tell you something."
She proceeded to tell him the story she had told to Teddy and the rest of the gang, and about Teddy's reaction. "SO, now I think that he's totally apprehensive about dating me."
"Well, first off, let me just say that I did like you, I really did have feelings for you. I'm just not good at showing them. And second, I wish you would've told me about that... But as for Teddy, maybe he needs you to be more... vocal. Say what you want. Leave no stone unturned."
"Tim Riggins, the motivational speaker," she chuckled. "Look I gotta go. Thanks for calling though. I've missed you."
"Same here."
"Tell Lyla I said hello."
"Will do." He replied. "And Becca?"
"Yeah?"
"Don't wait."
She nodded to herself as she looked at the ground nervously. "Thanks. Bye."

After taking Maggie home, she went back to her room, where she realized Teddy's guitar was lying in its case in the corner. When had that got there?
She kicked off her shoes and laid her coat across the end of her bed, but left her purple scarf around her neck.
She heard footsteps coming up the stairs, and turned just as Teddy walked through her door with a small smile on his face. "Hey you."
"Hi." She said quietly as he moved to his guitar and sat in her desk chair.
Don't wait. Don't wait. Don't wait.
"Listen..." he began nervously. "I've been getting this feeling that you've been avoiding me... Well not just me, but all of us, and I'm not sure why, but I'm running out reasons why. So I called Amie and she told me about you and Chase."
Her heart felt like it fell to the floor. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Why would Amie do that without talking to her first.
"I'm happy for you," he managed a smile. "I mean, as long as you're happy."
"Ted, I-" She wanted to tell him the truth. That she wasn't dating Chase, that she liked Teddy.
"No, no. It's fine. I understand. I should've responded differently when you told me about your feelings for me. I understand why you didn't tell me." He was being so serious now, and Becca didn't like it. She wanted her Teddy. The Teddy that joked about his fame status with her, and about how all the girls wanted him.
She wanted to cry. "Teddy."
"It's ok," he told her before handing his guitar to her. "Let's see if you remember your last lesson."
And just like that the subject was forgotten. Forgotten. Like it was a memory from elementary school when someone stole your pencil out of your desk. Like it was nothing. It wasn't nothing.
She played for him, exactly what she had learned, and he smiled a genuine smile at her as she played.
"It's like you're a natural. Like you were born to play the guitar." He smiled at her.
"Where would I be without my wonderful teacher, though?" She smiled at him.
"Hey, your birthday is coming up." He remembered and she nodded.
"Next Friday."
"Now I have to get you a super awesome gift. Something that no one else would think of."
"Don't get me anything. I don't want anyone to get me anything."
"Why not?" He asked curiously.
"Because I don't know what I want." She laughed. "I'm almost eighteen and I don't know what I want for my birthday."
"I'm sure you'll think of something," he laughed as his phone buzzed in his pocket. "It's the mom. I have to get home. See you at school Becks."
He gave her a tight hug that lasted a good while. She loved the new shampoo his mom had bought. It was a fruity smell that you wouldn't expect a guy's hair to smell like.
After he left, she fell onto her bed, where she laid for an hour before falling asleep and not waking until the next morning.
