Becca woke several hours later, and Teddy was gone. She was stretched out on the couch under a fleece blanket with a small throw pillow under her head. She groaned as she rolled over and stretched her arms over her head.
"Good morning sunshine!" She heard Chase's voice from the recliner in the corner by the couch she herself was occupying.
She let out another groan before mumbling something that neither she nor chase could understand.
"You too Chase, you look so refreshed this morning." Chase said sarcastically as she sat up and let her eyes adjust better.
"Where's Amie?"
"What? You're not excited to see me? Now my feelings are hurt," he laughed as she ran her fingers through her hair.
"Shut up. I was just wondering."
"OK, grumpy gills. She's upstairs in your shower getting all freshened up or whatever you girls do." He laughed at her. "I think she wants us all to go get breakfast or something."
Becca nodded before folding the blanket and setting it at the edge of the couch.
"Oh, Teddy told me to tell you goodbye. He left a little bit after you fell asleep and he didn't want to wake you."
"Why wouldn't he want to wake me?"
"Well I was wondering the same thing, but then I was around when you woke up." He laughed. "What was that you mumbled anyway?"
"I said I was going to rip your hair out of your head if you didn't shut up," she joked and he laughed at her.
"You're a geek." He closed his eyes and rested his head on the back of the seat before speaking again. "So how is volleyball going?"
She shrugged. "I guess its good. Nothing to write home about, I guess." She laughed.
"You're not into it anymore or something?" He started to rub the back of his neck like it was in pain.
"Well, see in Dillon it was different. I was a different person then and I really enjoyed it. But now, it's like I'm only doing it to be doing it." She laughed at herself as she watched him continue to rub the back of his neck.
"Yeah I guess I know what you're saying. If football wasn't almost over and it wasn't my senior year, I probably wouldn't have played."
"Is your neck hurting or something?" She laughed at him. "Because if not, you're making it look like you've got lice."
He smirked at her. "Yeah, it's been killing me since I woke up. I thought the shower would help, but it didn't."
She got up and stood behind him. "Here, let me help. Apparently I'm good at this sort of thing."
He was quiet as she rubbed his neck gently to help ease his pain. "So what are you doing after school's over?" She asked curiously.
He shrugged. "I haven't really thought about it. I like the health field, but I don't know what from there."
"Yeah me either. I like the same field, but I don't know what I really like."
"Seems like you've found it to me." He pointed to her hands on the back of his neck. "You're really good at it."
Amie cleared her throat from the bottom of the stairs. "Hope I wasn't interrupting something."
"I just had a pain..." he mumbled nervously and Becca knew his cheeks were probably pink.
"I think I'm going to get a shower now," she smiled at both of them. "It won't take too long."
"Good, because I don't think Chase will be able to be away from you without having some sort of attack." Amie said sarcastically and Becca rolled her eyes before starting up the stairs.

"Can you calm down, please?" Amie laughed at Becca as they rode to Teddy's concert in a near city.
"I haven't even really talked to him since I left," Becca stated. "Do you think he forgot about us?"
Amie shook her head. "He's probably just nervous or something. Maybe when his shows are over he's really tired and he just crashes and doesn't have much time."
Becca nodded in agreement. That had to be why. She was glad that it was his last performance for a while.
"Becca!" Amie said loudly and she looked at her curiously.
"What?"
"You're biting your nails again," Amie laughed. "And I just painted them for you!"
"Sorry," she said sheepishly before sitting on her hands.
Chase pulled into the venue just in time for them to rush inside and push their way to the front. Needless to say, there were several unhappy thirteen-year-olds now standing behind them.
"I think that girl just ripped my shirt," Chase mumbled and Becca punched him lightly on the shoulder.
"Which wouldn't have happened if someone hadn't insisted on driving like a grandpa!"
"Hey, you know you like the safety!" He laughed as he said it, and she couldn't help but notice that he really was cute.
The lights grew dim, and Teddy walked on the stage, guitar in hand.
She smiled to herself as she watched him play and sing and thought how great it must be to know exactly what you wanted to do with your life. She realized the day after Teddy left that besides having strong feelings for him, she had no idea what she wanted to do after she graduated. Did she want college? Did she want to wait a year?
The concert was great. Everyone loved it, even Chase, who was more fond of heavier bands, had gushed about how talented Ted was.
Everyone was chanting for an encore, and just when it seemed like an encore wasn't about to happen, Teddy came back on stage by himself.
"This song, goes out to a few of my close friends. They're here tonight and uh, this is a favorite song of one of them, so if its a cover, actually, and if you totally hate it, blame them, not me!" He laughed and Amie and Becca gave each other a look and shook their heads.
He began playing quietly by himself. and Becca smiled as she recognized it.
"She grew up with
the children of the stars
in the Hollywood hills and the boulevards
her parents threw big parties
everyone was there
they hung out with folks like
Dennis Hopper, Bob Seeger, Sonny and Cher""I love you Teddy!" A girl from the back called out and Becca couldn't help but mumble under her breath.
"Stupid girls. Ruining great music." Amie and Chase let out a chuckle as they listened to Teddy.
"She still lives with her mom
outside the city
down that street about a half a mile
and all her friends tell her
she's so pretty
but she'd be a whole lot prettier
if she smiled once in a while
`cause even her smile
looks like a frown"He looked down at her then and she waved at him, which he responded to with a quick wink. She smiled to herself as she heard the thirteen-year-olds behind her squeal about how lucky she was. If only she knew.
"Everything's gonna be all right
rockabye, rockabye
everything's gonna be all right
rockabye, rockabye,rockabye, bye, bye
bye, bye"Everyone cheered as he finished the song, said goodbye and exited the stage.
"That was really good," Chase commented as the three of them let the scantily clad youngsters behind them exit the venue before them. "And why the heck aren't these girls wearing any clothes?"
"To get noticed." Becca laughed. "Anytime a girl wears something that revealing it's because she wants attention."
"You girls are whack."
"Crack is whack!" Becca said goofily as they began to walk slowly away from the stage.
"What?" Amie was laughing at her now, and soon they were all giggling and getting looks from kids who were several years younger than them.
Soon Teddy came out and was sitting behind a table giving out a few autographs and taking pictures. But while he was doing that, his friends headed backstage to wait for him.
Unfortunately, they weren't the only lucky ones. There were a couple girls who looked like twins, seated on a couch in a big open room.
"That's the girl that pushed us out of her way!" One stated rather loudly.
"And what's up with the guy? Is he, like, gay or something?"
Becca turned around and looked at them, just to know that they had all heard them, but the girls just rolled their eyes and continued to talk about them.
"Becca!" Teddy said excitedly as he came running over and gave her a big hug. "Hey kids! How's it going? Did you like the show?"
The siblings nodded as Teddy gave them hugs too before Becca informed them he had two admirers across the room.
"Oh I know, they're like, the radio station's nieces or something." He waved it off. "I saw them before the show. Anywho! What are we doing tonight?"
"Going to bed," Becca laughed and wrapped her arms around his waist. "I missed you Teddy Geiger."
"I missed you."
