Chapter 6
The next morning had come, and I was out the door headed to the mall before Alyssa and Jamie were up. I knew that if they were up when I left, well…that was going to be somewhat of a problem or at least annoyance. They were going to be asking me about my plans for the day, waiting for the moment I mention Teddy’s name.
I pulled into the mall parking lot and my cell phone began to ring. It was none other than Teddy. Crap, I had forgotten to call him when I first got up!
“I am SOOOOO sorry that I didn’t call you earlier this morning! I totally forgot about it. I had a freaking mind blank. Please forgive me!” I said hurriedly before Teddy could say anything.
“Don’t sweat it,” Teddy said in response to my semi-long rant about how I was sorry for not calling him earlier. “Look behind you whenever you get the chance.”
“What are you talking about?” I said as I slowed down my car and then carefully turned my head and looked behind me. “What? But what are you doing here?”
“I need some new shoes and jeans, so I decided to come on down to the mall anyways. I had forgotten you were supposed to call me until I saw you driving along in front of me.”
“Well, um…okay. I’m fixing to park my car so I should probably hang up so I don’t wreck or anything. Meet me inside somewhere, okay?”
“Sure,” Teddy said as he hung up his phone.
-Be There For You-
-Alyssa’s POV-
Jamie and I woke up to find Kourtni had snuck out without us knowing. We knew she was up to something, probably hanging out with Teddy like she said she wouldn’t.
“I bet she’s at the mall with Teddy,” Jamie said as we sat in her kitchen eating breakfast.
“That’s probably where she went. She probably left early so she didn’t have to deal with us asking her questions about where she was going,” I said with a shrug of my shoulders.
“Do you think she finds us annoying?”
“No, she just doesn’t want to answer questions about her ‘love’ or personal life.”
“I understand.”
“You know, I really hope that Ted and Kourtni get together…soon.”
“Why is that?”
“Ever since Ted and I broke up, and I got with Tyler, he has been a little miserable. The poor kid needs a girlfriend, the right one too.”
“Are you saying that Kourtni is the right girl for him or something? Because I’m not so sure if she is. I don’t know if she can handle his hectic touring lifestyle.”
“I think she would be able to handle it. Besides, Teddy’s schedule isn’t that crazy. Sure it’ll take time getting used to, but I think Kourtni would be able to handle it…if they got together.”
“We will just have to wait and see,” Jamie said as she left her kitchen.
-Be There For You-
Walking into the mall, I looked around for Teddy. He was nowhere to be found. I was starting to think he had changed his mind and just left the mall.
“Hey Kourtni…wait up,” I heard Teddy say.
I turned around and saw Teddy walking at a VERY fast pace in my direction. The look on his face made it seem like he was being chased by a bunch of girls BEGGING for his autograph. He looked worried.
“I am so glad I finally found you,” Teddy said as he caught up with me.
“You look scared,” I said.
“There was this group of girls chasing after me. I stopped to give them my autograph, and they STILL followed me. Maybe if they see me with you then they’ll think I have a girlfriend and leave me alone.”
“Well Ted, I may just be tempted to tell them that I’m not your girlfriend.”
“Oh please, don’t do that to me! I wanted to have a peaceful day shopping with a friend, not a hectic day with tons of girls chasing after me.”
“I guess I will be nice and pretend for just this once. This is the only time it’s going to happen, got it?”
“You don’t know how much I owe you for this.”
“I don’t know if I want to know,” I said with a laugh as I walked into Old Navy.
-Be There For You-
I had been in Old Navy for nearly twenty minutes, and Teddy hadn’t said much of anything to me. For some odd reason he looked upset. But what was he upset about? I don’t think I had said nor done anything to hurt his feelings.
“What do you think of this dress here?” I asked Teddy as I held up a gray tiered dress that was simple yet could be easily made up to look like it was worth a bunch of money, just with simple accessories.
“What am I supposed to think of it?” Teddy said with a shrug of his shoulders.
“This dress is the exact one that I wore last night on our ‘date’, except it’s a different color. Do you like it or not?”
“I think the dress looked nice on you, if that’s what you were meaning.”
“Well, that isn’t the exact response I was looking for…but I’ll take it. So, should I get this dress or not?”
“I don’t know. You do whatever you want, I guess.”
“Nah, I think I will pass on this one. I think the black one is cuter anyways.”
“Okay. So, where are you headed off to next?”
“I think I’m headed over to American Eagle…or maybe Hollister. I haven’t actually decided yet.”
“I am going wherever you go,” Teddy said as he followed me out of Old Navy.
“I think I am going to American Eagle because I really need to buy myself a new pair of blue jeans. Hardly any of my jeans fit anymore.”
“That’s never good.”
“Yeah, I know. It’s awful. I guess I should go on a diet and try losing a few pounds.”
“I don’t think you need to go on a diet or lose any weight. I think you look beautiful just the way you are.”
“Can the cheesy talk,” I laughed as I walked into American Eagle.
-Be There For You-
The shopping day with Teddy had ended, and we were now headed back to my house to just chill for the rest of the day. I just hoped my brother didn’t hang around Teddy and drag Teddy away from me. I wanted Teddy to be around me, not my brother.
“Hopefully my brother won’t go crazy and want to play video games with you whenever he sees you,” I said to Teddy, via my cell phone, as I pulled into my driveway. “Well, I’m going to hang up now. I’ll see you when we get out,” I laughed as I hung up my phone and followed by putting my car in park.
Seconds later I was out of my car and heading up the driveway, just like Teddy.
“Is your brother even at home?” Teddy asked.
“Yep, he’s at home. He doesn’t have to go back to college until September, so he’s chilling here for the summer…like always. Besides…that’s his girlfriend’s car…the black one,” I said as I pointed to Kaylie’s car.
“Do they hang out a lot?”
“They are together ALL of the time. The two are literally inseparable. When Jackson isn’t at Kaylie’s house, then Kaylie is at our house. Or when Kaylie isn’t at our house, Jackson is at Kaylie’s house. It can get a little freaky at times.”
“And that is why I am so glad my siblings aren’t old enough to be ‘hanging’ out with their boyfriends or girlfriends.”
“That’s the one negative about having an older brother, but I’m sure he would think the same thing about me. I’m sure if I had a boyfriend that he’d be over all the time…”
“Or as much as he could,” Teddy interrupted.
“That too,” I said as I opened the front door to our house.
-Be There For You-
“Uh Jackson…what is Teddy Geiger doing in your living room?” Kaylie asked as Teddy and I passed through the living room.
“What are you talking about? He couldn’t be in my living room because I don’t know the guy,” Jackson replied as he sat with his back towards Teddy and me.
“Turn around.”
“Woah…you’re Teddy Geiger. And you’re with my sister. Kourt, you never told me you knew him,” Jackson said as he got up from the couch and came over to shake Teddy’s hand.
“I just met him yesterday Jackson. I never had time to tell you since I was at Jamie’s house all night,” I said as Kaylie came over and shook Teddy’s hand as well.
“Don’t forget to tell him about the date,” Teddy said.
“Teddy…SHHHHHHHHHHHH!” I said as I looked at Teddy. “You weren’t supposed to tell him!”
“So, my sis has a famous boyfriend like Jamie now…huh?” Jackson asked as he gave me some kind of funny look.
“He ISN’T my boyfriend Jackson.” I said.
“We’re just friends…no sweat,” Teddy said.
“Right,” Jackson said sarcastically.
“Come on Teddy. Let’s go on up to my room,” I said as I somewhat grabbed Teddy’s hand and led him towards the stairs.
-Be There For You-
“I cannot BELIEVE Teddy ditched me for my brother. Who wants to go golfing anyways? Golf is BORING,” I said to Kaylie, my brother’s girlfriend, as we sat laying out by the pool.
“It’s a guy thing. No worries…I’m sure they won’t be gone very long,” Kaylie smiled as she got off of her chair and went to dive into the pool.
“They had better not be gone long.”
“But, I thought you didn’t like Teddy.”
“I like him as a friend, that’s all.”
“I think someone has a crush.”
“I do NOT have a crush on Teddy. That’s just…ew, that is so gross Kaylie! I cannot believe you’d ever say that.”
“Well, I think you do. Besides, it’s obvious that Teddy has a crush on you. Jackson sent me a text a few minutes ago saying that Teddy wouldn’t stop talking about you.”
“He talks about me a lot, and it’s kind of weird. We aren’t dating or anything. I don’t even know if you would consider us to be friends. We just met yesterday.”
“You cannot predict the future Kourtni. You never know what the future holds. For all you know, you and Teddy could end up dating. The two of you could be the HOTTEST couple on the planet. You know you two would make a pretty hot couple.”
“Th…what? Do you really think we’d make a cute couple?”
“Of course you would make a cute couple! You are both hot.”
“Right,” I laughed as I joined Kaylie in the pool.
