Chapter 7

The day seemed to go on and around four in the afternoon Jackson and Teddy decided to come back home. By this time I was super upset with Teddy, which was probably hard for everyone to understand. I felt like I was his girlfriend getting mad at him for being with his friends too much or something.

“Miss me?” Teddy said with a laugh as he sat down next to me on my bed.

“Don’t you think you were gone long enough? I didn’t think you were ever going to come back,” I scoffed as I turned my back towards Teddy.

“Woah, you sound just like my mom…or even worse my girlfriend.”

“Well, I thought WE were supposed to hang out today. See…this is exactly why I didn’t want to really hang out here at my house. I knew my brother was going to be hogging you.”

“It sounds like someone is a little jealous of their older brother. Are they?”

“NO! I am not jealous of Jackson. I just wanted to hang out with you today, not Kaylie. I mean, don’t get me wrong…I love Kaylie, but I thought today was our day to hang out.”

“I don’t have to leave until like Sunday, and it’s only Wednesday now. We have until Sunday morning to hang out.”

“I know you are leaving Sunday, but I wanted to hang out TODAY like we had planned. How come you just can’t stick to the original plans Ted? Is it really that hard?” I said as I got up off of my bed and headed out of my room.

-Be There For You-
-Teddy’s POV-

It hadn’t been five minutes since Kourtni stormed out of her room, and I was already on the phone with Jamie and Alyssa…trying to get advice on what I should or could do to keep her from being so angry at me.

“What happened now Ted?” Alyssa said as she put me on speaker phone so that Jamie could hear me too.

“I hung out with her older brother all day…and she got mad,” I said as I sat at her computer playing solitaire.

“Dude…that was the number one mistake right there. If the two of you were SUPPOSED to hang out, then you should have hung out with her,” Jamie spoke up.

“Well, I couldn’t just be rude to her brother either.”

“You didn’t HAVE to be rude to him. You should have simply told him that you were hanging out with his sister and that the two of you could hang out tomorrow or some other time,” Alyssa said.

“I guess you are right. So, what are you saying I do to keep her from hating me?”

“You apologize…duh,” Jamie said.

“I should have known that. I think I am going to give that a try. Thanks for the help both of you.”

“No problem,” Alyssa and Jamie said in unison.

“Bye,” I said as I hung up my cell phone and closed out of my solitaire game.

-Be There For You-

I had been sitting out on the front porch swing for nearly ten minutes and there was no sign of Teddy. I for sure thought he’d be out here, trying to apologize, two seconds after I left my room. But I was totally wrong on this one.

“Hey stranger,” I said in a low voice as I looked up and saw Teddy walk onto the front porch.

“That’s surprising. I didn’t figure you would talk to me after I somewhat ditched you today,” Teddy said as he sat in the swing, right next to me.

“I’m not one to hold grudges for very long, I don’t guess.”

“Well, that’s a good thing.”

“So, what did you come out here for?”

“I came out here to apologize to you.”

“You came out here to apologize to me?”

“I didn’t know what to do to begin with, so I went to seek help from Alyssa and Jamie. They told me it would be best to apologize to you.”

“They were right.”

“I really am sorry for not hanging out with you as much today. But hey, look on the bright side. We have the whole night to hang out. Your brother is going over to his girlfriend’s house.”

“There won’t be much to do tonight though. I don’t feel like going out and doing anything either. I’d like to stay at home for once.”

“We can stay here and still have fun. You do have a pool in your backyard. Swimming is always fun, isn’t it?”

“I guess, but I didn’t think you would want to go swimming.”

“Of course I’d like to go swimming,” Teddy said as he put his arm around me and followed by giving me a hug.

“You just want to see me in a bathing suit.”

“You caught me,” Teddy said with a laugh as he held his hands up in the air.

-Be There For You-

Before I went out to the backyard to swim with Teddy, I decided to give Jamie a phone call so that I could tell her and Alyssa that their advice worked.

“Hello,” Jamie said after about the second or third ring.

“Thanks for giving Teddy that advice. It definitely worked,” I said as I could hear Teddy walking down the stairs.

“So, what are you two doing now?” Alyssa said as I could hear Jamie put the phone on speaker.

“We are fixing to go swimming, and I don’t know what we are going to do after that. I’ll probably suggest that figure out something to eat for supper.”

“Ted just wants to see you in a bathing suit,” Jamie laughed.

“I know! That’s exactly what I said to him, and he said I caught him. It’s like you read his mind or something.”

“No. Ted isn’t like that at all. You may think he is, but he really isn’t. I promise you two will have a total blast,” Alyssa said somewhat excitedly. “Now, I think Jamie and I should let you go so you can go on and get to your little date.”

“It’s NOT a date you two. We are just hanging out as friends.”

“BYE!” Alyssa and Jamie said in unison as they hung up the phone.

-Be There For You-

After I hung up the phone with Alyssa and Jamie, I hesitated to go down to the pool. What if Teddy thought I looked like crap? Wait, what was I thinking? I didn’t like the guy on a boyfriend level so it shouldn’t matter, right? But a girl has to care about what she looks like when she’s around a guy. I had mixed feelings when it came to Teddy. Part of me was all ‘yeah, he’s just a friend’ and then the other part of me was ‘I think I’m falling for the guy I met yesterday’.

“Sorry it took so long,” I said to Teddy as I walked out into my backyard to find Teddy already in the pool. “I had called to see what Jamie and Alyssa were up to for the rest of the night.”

“Not a problem,” Teddy replied with a smile.

“Go on, say it. I know I look like complete crap in this bathing suit. See, I knew you were going to say that!”

“I wasn’t even going to say anything about the way you look, but now that you mention it what you just said was the exact opposite of what I was thinking. I actually think you look very nice.”

“Thanks. You don’t look so bad yourself.”

“My apologies if you are into the whole ‘buff’ guy type. That just…well, as you can tell that isn’t my style.”

“It doesn’t matter to me. I like you just the way you are,” I said with a smile as I dove into the deep end of the pool.

“Well…thanks,” Teddy said with a smile.

-Be There For You-
-Teddy’s POV-

Kourtni and I hadn’t been swimming for more than ten minutes, and my cell phone started to ring. I hated to leave her, but it was my mom calling which meant it was probably an important phone call that needed to be taken. I just hoped Kourtni didn’t hate me for it.

“Hello,” I said as I sat down on Kourtni’s living room couch.

“Ted…I’ve got some semi-upsetting news to fill you in on,” my mom said as I sat back and got comfortable. I knew this could be a while.

“What is it mom? I’m comfortably seated because I know this could take a while.”

“Turns out you don’t get to leave on Sunday. You have to leave on Thursday instead. Plans changed and turns out you have a show on Sunday.”

“But mom, Thursday is tomorrow! I am having too much fun. I can’t leave now.”

“Ted, did you meet a girl?”

“Mom, I didn’t just meet A girl. I met THE girl.”

“Teddy, that’s what you said when you met Alyssa and look what happened with that. You don’t need a relationship at this point in your life. Right now you need to be focusing on your career.”

“MOM! It isn’t your life so stop trying to make decisions for me. I never said I was going to get into a relationship right now, but if I wanted to be in one then I could.”

“I’m not so sure if she could handle your lifestyle Teddy.”

“Could you just please butt out of my business?”

“Teddy, you ARE my business. I have a say-so in what goes on in your life and right now I think it’s best if you would just take a break from girls.”

“I’m not having this conversation with you right now,” I said as I quickly hung up my phone before my mom had the chance to say anything more.

-Be There For You-

Teddy walked back out to the pool with an upset look on his face. From the looks I could tell the phone conversation with whoever it was wasn’t a good one. Teddy didn’t look happy at all. This couldn’t be good.

“What’s with the sad look on your face?” I asked Teddy as he sat down by the pool, dangling his feet in the water.

“Mom said I am leaving tomorrow instead of Sunday. Plans changed. Turns out I have a show on Sunday,” Teddy sighed. “And I also fought with my mom about something, but that’s another story that we don’t need to get into.”

“That stinks, and I’m sorry about the fight with your mom. I won’t make you talk about it.”

“It’s okay. It was just another stupid mother-son fight. We have those quite often, especially since I got the whole record deal thing.”

“I understand. I guess the whole being famous thing is taking some time to get used to, huh?”

“I guess that’s what it is; I don’t know.”

“So, what time do you need to leave and get back to your hotel or wherever?”

“I should probably be heading back pretty soon.”

“Alright then…I’ll get out so I can tell you goodbye,” I said as I walked towards the shallow end steps so I could get out and hug Teddy bye.

“I wish I didn’t have to leave right now.”

“I know. I wish you didn’t have to leave either. We were having a ton of fun hanging out together,” I said as I began to dry off. “We should definitely keep in touch or something.”

“You know I will definitely call you whenever I get free time. And I should be able to come back down before the summer ends.”

“You had better come back down and visit us girls. I don’t know what we would do without our Teddy.”

“Ha, I’ll definitely try and visit. You know what?”

“What?”

“You should come with me.”

“I don’t think that would be possibly.”

“I meant to say you should come see me off tomorrow morning. I won’t have anyone else there with me.”

“It depends on what time your plane is leaving. What time is your plane leaving?”

“I think my plane is leaving at like seven thirty in the morning.”

“I will try my best to be there around six forty-five.”

“Alright…sounds like a plan to me,” Teddy said as he reached out and hugged me. “I will see you tomorrow.”

“Bye,” I said as Teddy turned and walked off.
