Chapter 2
Alyssa, Jamie, and I were following Teddy Geiger out to his bus. The girls were still speechless after receiving a hug from Teddy. I, on the other hand, was starting to feel a little weird...like I was actually starting to like this guy or something, but that couldn't be true.
"So...are your friends okay?" Teddy asked as we approached his bus.
"I think so," I shrugged as we entered Teddy's bus.
"How did you get the actual passes again? Didn't you win some contest or something along those lines?"
"Actually, our best friend's uncle kind of did us a favor," Alyssa spoke up as we sat down at the little kitchen table thing. "You see, she really isn't a fan of your music."
"Yeah, but she loves us and she talked her uncle into saving the passes for the three of us rather than having a contest. She only owes her uncle two hundred something dollars," Jamie shrugged as Teddy handed us some bottles of water.
"Oh really, you don't like my music?" Teddy asked as he gave me a stern look.
"I don't know," I lied as I shrugged my shoulders.
"I think you are putting her on the spot...that usually makes her nervous," Alyssa said as she nodded her head and pointed her finger at Teddy.
-Be There For You- -Alyssa's POV-
Kourtni had ditched us (Jamie, Teddy, and me) after the somewhat embarrassing moment she had on the bus with Teddy. He put her on the spot, made her nervous, and she bailed. She told a fib and said she had some 'shopping' to do...right. Jamie and I knew our friend. She wasn't shopping at all.
"I cannot believe she ditched us," Jamie said as she slammed her water bottle on the table. "How could she?"
"You two shouldn't be upset with her. It was all my fault for putting her on the spot like that. I feel bad," Teddy shrugged. "Do you guys think there is anything I can do to keep her from hating me anymore than she already does?"
"Teddy, she doesn't hate YOU. She just hates your music...that's all. Matter of fact, I've caught her on your website looking at pictures of you a few times. I think she has developed a crush on you," I said as I looked up at Teddy who was visibly frustrated. "You can trust me; I'm your friend...remember?"
"Wait, Alyssa...you know Teddy?" Jamie asked.
"We used to know each other several years ago...yeah, but don't tell Kourtni."
"So you faked the whole being excited thing for me?"
"No, I didn't fake it. I was excited to see Ted because it's been so long. The last time we saw each other it kind of ended on a bad note, or bad break up."
"You two dated?"
"Kind of," Teddy spoke up.
"Kourtni needs to know this. She is our best friend Alyssa."
"Ted, why don't you go tell her?" Alyssa said as she pushed Teddy towards the door of his bus.
"Whatever," Teddy sighed shaking his head as he walked off the bus.
-Be There For You-
"Hey Kourtni...wait up," I overheard Teddy call out as I walked around the food court.
"What do you want?" I scoffed as Teddy finally caught up with me. "Are you here to embarrass me again?"
"Can we just please forget about that? There's something that I need to tell you. Alyssa really should've been the one to tell you, but she insisted I tell you since you were already mad at me. This will probably make you even madder at me."
"What?"
"Alyssa and I know each other. We knew each other WAY before this."
"What are you talking about? Today is the first day that you and Alyssa have met. I know that, and I don't think one of my best friends would lie to me."
"Well, I don't know if you want to call it a lie...but she's definitely been keeping something from you."
"Well, are you going to tell me what it is then?"
"Alyssa and I dated a few years back. We broke up right before she moved down here to Alabama."
"WHAT? I...I cannot believe this. I don't know what to say. I don't know if I should be upset with you or upset with Alyssa."
"Just don't be upset with Alyssa. I don't want to break your friendship up. This really isn't my place to me. I think I am going to head back to the bus," Teddy said as he turned and headed for the front doors of the mall.
-Be There For You- -Alyssa's POV-
"How did it go?" I said nervously as Teddy walked back onto the bus. "Is she mad at you or what?"
"I don't really know what to tell you. I told her not to be mad at you because I didn't want this stupid little thing to break up your friendship. She is probably mad at me...which I guess is okay," Teddy said as he looked down at the floor.
"Ted, what's wrong? I know there is something going through your mind right now. You can trust me with whatever it is...and I'm sure Jamie wouldn't tell either."
"Yeah...I wouldn't tell. I promise," Jamie spoke up.
"Nothing is bothering me Alyssa. Just leave me alone," Teddy said as he headed towards the back of the bus.
"Stop right now Geiger. There is something bothering you, and you had better tell me now," I said as I reached for Teddy's hand. "I am being serious Ted. Tell me now."
"I...I don't know."
"Yes you do Ted! Don't lie to me. What is bothering you? Do you think you are falling for Kourtni or something? Do you think you like her? What is it? You are keeping me confused, and I don't like it!"
"ALRIGHT...maybe I do like her. Maybe I do think she's pretty. Does THAT make you happy?" Teddy said as he turned once again and headed to the back of the bus.
-Be There For You-
"Hey Kourt," Jamie said as she walked up to me.
"Hey," I sighed as I looked down at the ground. "What's up?"
"Alyssa went home."
"Why?"
"She kind of had a fight with Teddy...well, not really. They just exchanged a few choice words about you, that's all."
"What? What did they say about me?"
"It wasn't bad, I swear. When Teddy walked back on the bus, Alyssa knew there was something bothering him. He just didn't seem so happy-go-lucky like he normally is. She questioned him about it, and he said nothing was wrong. Alyssa raised her voice saying she knew there was something wrong with him. She asked him if he was falling for you or whatever."
"What did he say?"
"He said that maybe he was falling for you...or maybe he thought you were pretty."
"What? But why would he think I was pretty? You and Lys are way prettier than me, and you know it. I'm just a freak with glasses."
"No you aren't," Teddy said as he walked up to the table. "Can I have a second alone Jamie?"
"Sure," Jamie smiled as she walked off.
"You think I'm pretty?" I asked as Teddy sat down in front of me. "Why me? You could have any girl you wanted, yet you choose to think you are possibly falling for me? I don't get it, especially since I almost hate your music."
"I have just been looking for a new girlfriend, someone that is right for me...and when I met you there was just something about you that said I should be with you. I know that sounds really strange to you, but it's true. Just do me one favor."
"What would that be?"
"Go out to dinner with me...just one date for now," Teddy said.
"I...I don't know about that," I sighed as I got up from the table and headed towards the bathrooms.

Chapter 3
The concert had ended, and I was headed back to Jamie's house for the rest of the day. The three girls, or AJK as we liked to call ourselves, were planning to have our weekly sleepover party. Jamie and I were kind of worried Alyssa wouldn't show up.
"You never told me what Teddy talked to you about," Jamie said as I pulled into her driveway. "Are you ever going to tell me what the talk was about?"
"He asked me on a date for later tonight," I sighed as I put the car in park.
"What did you say?"
"I basically told him no. I don't know if I could do that to Lys. Besides, he seems to be rushing into this whole friendship thing or whatever it is."
"You should have told him yes Kourt! I think he is really starting to develop some sort of crush on you. Besides, you can talk to Lys when she comes over later this afternoon. I think she is completely over him and wouldn't mind if you went to dinner with him."
"I don't know," I sighed as Jamie and I walked into her house.
-Be There For You- -Jamie's POV-
We had been back at my house for nearly an hour. Alyssa was still nowhere to be found. I decided to give her a call and found out exactly where she was.
"Hello," Alyssa answered as I heard a car door slam shut.
"Where are you? I thought you were supposed to be here thirty minutes ago," I said as I paced around my bedroom. "Wherever you are, you need to hurry up and get here. Kourtni really needs to talk to you about Ted."
"Uh...try coming to look out your front door. I am here...loser," Alyssa laughed as the doorbell rang.
"Not funny," I said with a laugh as I hung up my phone and headed down the stairs and to my front door.
-Be There For You-
As I sat in the living room of Jamie's house, I overheard Jamie and Alyssa talking. It sounded like they were headed towards the living room, but knowing my luck they were probably heading upstairs to Jamie's room.
"Hey Kourtni!" Alyssa said seconds later as she entered the living room. "Jamie said you had to talk to me about something. What's up?" she asked as she sat down on the couch next to me.
"Where is Jamie?" I asked curiously.
"She went on up to her room. She figured you didn't want her in here to hear the conversation between the two of us. So, what is it you needed to talk to me about?"
"It has to deal with Teddy. He kind of asked me out to dinner, but I basically told him no. I didn't want to go because I was scared it would upset you, and I'd hate to upset you since you are one of my best friends. I think I ended up hurting Teddy instead."
"Yeah, he kind of called me about that. Look Kourtni, if you want to go on one date with him that's fine. I don't even care if ya'll start dating. There wouldn't ever be any hard feelings between us or between me and Teddy. Teddy needs a great girl in his life right now, and I think you may be her. Just give it a chance, okay?"
"I don't even know if I want to go out with him."
"You will have a lot of fun. Teddy will really treat you like a princess."
"But how am I supposed to get up with him? I don't have his cell phone number. And besides, it would be really weird if I called him. I don't think I would be able to say anything to him."
"Why don't you go check outside? I think there's a certain someone in the driveway."
"Okay," I said in a confused voice as I got up from the couch and headed towards the front door.
-Be There For You- -Jamie's POV-
"Is she going to go with him?" I asked as Alyssa entered my bedroom.
"I think so. She is headed out front to talk to him right now," Alyssa said. "I really hope she does decide to go with him. He seems to really have some sort of crush on her, and I think they would make an adorable couple...don't you?"
"They would be cute, yeah."
"So, have you talked to Drake lately?" Alyssa asked referring to my boyfriend, Drake Bell.
"The last I heard he was still in the recording studio. He had to finish up some last minute stuff on his new album. I think he is flying out here maybe tomorrow...not sure about that though."
"We should totally throw him a welcome home party, don't you think?"
"That would be an excellent idea. He would be totally shocked if we did. I know he wouldn't be expecting it. He doesn't think I can plan a party without letting him know about it."
"You had better not tell him about this surprise."
"I won't tell a soul. But wait, isn't Teddy supposed to be leaving tomorrow?"
"Yeah, he is supposed to leave tomorrow. What's your point?"
"I don't know. I was just thinking that maybe we shouldn't throw the party tomorrow since Kourtni may be sad because Teddy left."
"I don't think we have anything to worry about there. She probably won't get attached to him that quickly. For all we know she may not even be going out to dinner with him."
"Good point," I said. "I guess we will just have to talk to Kourtni about it later tonight then."
"Yep," Alyssa said.
-Be There For You-
I walked outside to find Teddy leaning up against a limo. The limo must have been the one he was riding around in for the day. But how come he wasn't in his bus? I thought he was riding around in his bus. Hm, maybe I was wrong.
"So, what brings you out here?" Teddy said as I walked up and stood next to him.
"I just wanted to kind of apologize for earlier," I sighed as I stood with my arms folded up.
"It's okay, no big deal."
"I really came out here to tell you more than that. Alyssa and I talked about me going out to dinner with you."
"Yeah, I know...you aren't going, right?"
"No, I am going. Can you pick me up around seven? That's in like three hours, but it gives me plenty of time to get ready. And oh yeah, where are we going? I need to know so I can pick out my outfit."
"Well, thanks for going with me...I guess."
"Hopefully it won't be a problem," I smiled. "Now, where are we going?"
"I was thinking we go to the Pancake House. I don't really think we should go anywhere too fancy for the first date. We need to go somewhere casual and that seems like the perfect place. Is that okay with you?"
"Yeah, it is fine with me," I smiled as I started back up the walk way to Jamie's house.
"Hey...thanks for going with me. I guess I will see you at seven," Teddy said as he got back into the limo.
-Be There For You-
"So...what time is he picking you back up?" Jamie asked as I walked back into the house.
"You are going with him, aren't you?" Alyssa questioned as I shut the front door.
"Yes I am going out to dinner with Teddy. And to answer your question Jamie, he is picking me up around seven. Is that okay with you two?" I laughed as I headed back into the living room.
"What are you going to wear?" Alyssa asked.
"I was thinking about wearing my black dress and white leggings from Old Navy. Then I am probably going to wear some black flip flops and maybe wear a black and white polka-dot headband."
"Aw! You are going to look so cute," Jamie exclaimed as she clapped her hands together. "You should totally let me and Lys do your hair and makeup."
"I will let you two do my hair. I want to be the one doing my makeup though."
"Sounds fair enough to me," Alyssa said as the three of us sat down on the couch. "So, are you going to kiss him?"
"I barely even know the guy Alyssa. I doubt I'll even hug him."
"We will just have to see about that...won't we?" Alyssa laughed as Jamie turned on the television.
-Be There For You-
The day seemed to go a lot quicker after I had told Teddy that I would go out to dinner with him. It seemed like he had just left Jamie's five minutes ago, but it had been almost three hours. He was supposed to be back here at Jamie's to pick me up in like ten minutes. The nerves were starting to hit me.
"Nervous?" Jamie laughed as Alyssa straightened my hair.
"Of course. You know I am always nervous when I go out to dinner with guys. I am just so scared I am going to make a fool of myself," I shrugged as Alyssa handed the straightener over to Jamie.
"You don't have anything to worry about tonight. Like I told you before, Teddy is going to treat you like a princess. He shouldn't give you any reason to be nervous," Alyssa said as the doorbell rang. "Speaking of Teddy, I think that's him now. Jamie, why don't you go and get the door? I'm going to stay up here and make sure she doesn't faint."
"Got it," Jamie laughed as she exited the bathroom.
"But, he isn't supposed to be here for another ten minutes. I don't even have my dress on yet! What about my leggings? Wait, I think I am going to go without them. I don't have enough time to fool with those things. Could you hand me my headband?"
"Sure thing," Alyssa said as she handed me my headband. "Don't be nervous Kourtni! I am telling you that you are going to have an amazing time. Once you get used to being around Ted, the nerves will go away. He is just amazing."
"I hope so," I sighed as I stood up and got ready to head downstairs.
