"Get out!" I yelled at Brooke as she tried to rummage through my closet for the fifth time today.
"Hey!" She snapped. "You've borrowed from me before."
"Sorry, I don't wear skankwear." I smirked as I shut the door in her face and plopped down on my bed.
Today was one of those days where everyone who said anything - whether it was good or bad - just got on my nerves.
The beeping of my phone signalled I had a new text message that was just begging for my attention. 'Want to get lunch?'
'Sure. Where?' I asked him and waited for his reply while I searched for my keys.
'Well, I'm in your driveway right now because I sort of gave you no choice.'
I rolled my eyes and laughed as I looked out my window, and sure enough that little black Neon was sitting in my driveway. Silly Teddy.
I met him at the front door just as he was about to ring the doorbell. "So where are we going?"
----------
"Mmm. I haven't had Subway in so long." I said as I finished my sandwich and balled the paper into a huge wad.
He laughed at me. "So you're really leaving?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I am."
It was Spring now, and as the months went by, I was able to trick myself into thinking that moving to Colorado was exactly what I wanted.
"You'll most definately be the first person from our class to move away." He commented as he looked out the window. The sunlight made his blue eyes shine like glass.
"Wait. Don't move." I said as I dug into my bag and produced my camera to snap a picture of the moment. The neon sign that read 'Subway' could be seen in the corner as he looked out the window. It was a perfect picture. "Ok, you can move now."
"Good, I was starting to get a cramp in my neck," He joked and I laughed. I would miss him.
"Let me take a picture of you." He said.
"Ok." I handed the camera over to him and he shook his head.
"Not here."
"Then where?" I laughed as he stood up.
"Come on."
----------
"I am so going to miss it here," I said as I stared at the lake.
"Yeah, I don't think it will be the same, ya know?" He said. "I mean... We had fun here. Even if we were mad at each other."
I nodded. "Yeah. Remember the time I had thought you were talking about me behing my back?"
He nodded. "Yeah. I remember quite well. Especially since you pushed me into the lake when it was, like, thirty degrees out."
I smiled. "You have to admit, I think well on my feet."
He rolled his eyes and laughed. "Ok, ok."
I sat on the edge of the dock with a stick in my hand and stirred the water around as if I was making some sort of love potion.
"I honestly didn't think you'd go."
I squinted as I looked up at him. "Me either. But now, I think it will be good. I'll be going to school, and I can take tons of awesome pictures there."
He nodded. "I have an idea. Does your camera have a timer?"
I nodded as I set it up and sat it on one of the posts on the dock.
"Ok, now, just trust me. You sit there like that." I nodded as he sat in front of me with his forehead on mine as he stared into my eyes.
I was lost. I know that was a cheesy line, but I was honestly lost in them. I was so lost that I hadn't even heard the beep of the camera after it took our picture.
"So, um..." I stuttered. "Th-that should be a, uh, totally cool picture."
He nodded. "Yeah." He was so confident right now and he knew I had suddenly lost mine. He began rolling his pants legs up and I laughed at him.
"Going fishing Tom Sawyer?"
He rolled his eyes. "Not hardly. Now, lay on the edge of the dock and let your hair hang over the edge."
"Who's the photographer now?" I joked as he smirked at me and quickly snapped the picture just as my phone began ringing, but I decided not to answer it. My day had went from annoying, to one of the best days I'd ever had, and I wasn't going to let a phone call interupt it.
"I think we should get back," he said. "I'm sure my Mom would kill me if I didn't get home by dinner."
I laughed at him. "I'm sure she would."
I watched him climb the hill in front of me as I put my camera back into my bag and sighed.
Today was the best day of my life.
----------
Class night was just around the corner, and I had to say that I was terrified. I didn't have a dress, and I didn't have anyone to walk me.
"Why so stressed?" Teddy laughed as he and I, along with Tallie and Jerome, walked through the mall.
"She wouldn't be herself if she wasn't stressed," Tallie laughed as she reminded him. "She just thinks she doesn't have anyone to walk with her at class night."
"I thought we would walk together," I said quickly. "But I totally understand if you don't..."
He laughed at me. "Chill out. I wouldn't have it any other way."
I smiled as I breathed a sigh of relief. One problem down... Now I just had to find the right dress.
It was much easier for Tallie to go shopping than it was for me. She could find anything as soon as she walked in the store, but for me, I had to wait to find just the right dress. I guess you could say I was rather picky.
But, despite my thoughts on the dress, I had finally bought the one I would wear later that week by the time we left.
It was black and fell just below my knees. On the side it had a semi-circle of rhinestones and metal to create a rouching effect across my stomach. I loved it, but only after I took it home a modelled it for my Mom and sister.
"That's so Hollywood," Brooke said in her valley girl accent and I laughed. It did look rather red carpet, though.
"It does look really good on you, Bailey," My Mom smiled. "My girls are all grown up... And you're moving to Colorado."
I sighed. "Yeah. We are..."
I was so scared to move across the country. Not to mention the fact that I knew it wasn't what I wanted. But then again, I wasn't even exactly sure what I wanted. What if I didn't do well in college? What if I couldn't find a job to pay for an apartment? What if Spence wanted me to move in with him?
Oh geez...

I smiled to myself as Tallie and I snuck a peek of the gym where we would be walking during class night. Our class representatives decided to have a theme to it this year, which would be "Hollywood Award Show", since they would be praising our work that we had done for thirteen years.
"Oh, I hear somebody," I whispered as we quickly shut the doors and headed to the line of girls.
The biggest surprise was when we all started walking out with our "escort". The underclassmen on the yearbook staff were lined up to take pictures like they worked for a big name magazine.
I noticed that during the slideshow, Ted and Tallie had slid a few of the pictures we took the other day in there.
I nudged him as we sat in our seats and he smiled. "It's only payback for you putting that one of me in Subway in there."
"Ok, fine." I laughed as we listened to all the awards being handed out.
"Now it is time for Mister and Miss Buccaneer, as well as the class superlatives." We had cast our votes earlier that week, and no one knew the representatives, unlike past years where they had the nominees and the class voted for those five males and females. "First we'll name the superlatives."
Jerome won the award for Most Talented, along with a girl named Kyla. Tallie also won an award, but it was for Most School Spirit, since she was a co-captain with me this year. I wasn't at all surprised that I didn't win anything at all. I was friendly, but also shy, and I was school spirited, but my spirits were almost always reserved more than anyone else.
"And now, your five girls nominated for Miss Buccaneer are Samantha Collins, Cara Baker, Lyla Street, Beverly Farber, and Bailey Connor." I was more than shocked. How had my name ended up on that list? I wasn't even that popular. I stood up and followed everyone onto the stage and stood in a diagonal line next to Samantha. "And the guys are Josh Bradford, Noah Thacker, Ryan Cohen, Cohen James, and Seth Riggins."
They all made their way up to the stage as well, and I stood there nervously. I honestly didn't care if I won or not, I just didn't want to fall off the stage in front of so many people.
"And your 2006 Mister and Miss Buc are Seth Riggins and... Bailey Connor." The teacher said happily and I had to smile. I had never won anything in my life, and I didn't even ask anyone to vote for me.
I looked out into the audience and I saw Teddy, Tallie and Jerome all stand up and clap and I couldn't help but laugh as they handed me a bouquet of roses and pinned my sash around me.
----------
"So that was totally fun and all," Tallie began dramatically, "But these shoes have go to go. I am exhausted. I think ten hours of sleep is in the works."
I laughed at her as she grabbed Jerome by the collar and pulled him away dramatically. "Bye guys!" He yelled as he waved.
"Come on," Teddy said as he grabbed my hand and led me to his car.
What was he doing? "Can't I change clothes first?" I whined as he pulled me across the parking lot.
"Absolutely not. Just because you're Miss Buccaneer, that doesn't mean you can change clothes whenever you want."
"What?"
"I know, that made totally no sense whatsoever," He laughed as he leaned against the car. "So... graduation is tomorrow night."
I nodded sadly. "Yeah, it is."
"And you're leaving." He said quietly as he looked away.
I nodded again and wrapped my arms around myself. "I am."
I could feel this energy inside me that wanted to scream 'NO! I'm not going, Teddy Geiger, because I want to be with you!', but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I was too afraid he'd just reject me. He had said he didn't know what I was holding out for.
He brought me closer and gave me a hug before speaking again. "I'll see you tomorrow."
I nodded as I walked to my own car and hopped in. I gave him one last look before shutting the door and driving away from everything I once knew.
