A Little Bit Longer, and I’ll Be Fine
Follow Up to “Mine all Mine”; Teddy Geiger FF
Chapter 1:
Marriage life was treating me well. Things were going great for Teddy and I. We were able to move out of my uncle’s house about two weeks after we got back from our honeymoon. Living in our own place again was a lot of fun. It brought back the memories of Telluride. What made life even more exciting now was the fact that I was expecting our first child. I was four, almost five, months pregnant, and I was finally starting to get a little bump. However, Teddy had yet to see my bump.
You see for the past month Teddy had been on the road. He was doing shows and then auditioning for new movie roles. I told him he was crazy for going out for the movies. Even he thought it was crazy, but he had to do it. It’s something his agent set up. Even though I shouldn’t wish it, I was beginning to wish that he didn’t get the role because I wanted him with me...and the baby. So, today was the day Teddy was coming back into town. He was scheduled to arrive at our house shortly.
“Jamie, you should see me! It’s been two months since I found out, and I’ve got a huge bump!” I said into the phone to my best friend, Jamie.
“I want to come see yours and Teddy’s new place...and the baby bump too! So, exactly how far along are you? You didn’t tell me you were pregnant until like two weeks ago,” Jamie said from her end of the phone line.
“I’m nearing five months.”
“Aw! So you’ve only got like four months left? Wow, that’s crazy, hard to believe! Do you know what you’re having yet?”
“I found out yesterday. No one knows, not even Teddy.”
“What are you having?”
“I can’t tell you yet! Teddy’s going to be the first one to find out what we’re having. Once he and a few other close family know, I’ll call you. How does that sound?”
“It’s better than nothing! I’ll take it!”
“Good,” I giggled as I heard the door knob turn. “Teddy is here! I have to go greet him at the door so he can see my big bump! He hasn’t seen the BIG bump yet. He’s only seen the teeny, tiny one that I had a month ago.”
“Okay. I’ll let you go! I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Love you James!”
“I love you too Kourt!”
I hung up the phone, put it down on the couch, and ran to the door. My hands were clasped together, resting underneath my belly. Teddy opened the door with a big smile on his face.
“Surprise,” I smiled as I pointed to my belly. “I’ve grown in the past month, haven’t I?”
“You sure have, but you look as cute as ever,” he smiled as he kissed me a few times, both on the lips and cheeks, and even a kiss or two on the neck. “How’s the baby?”
“The babies are doing great!”
“That’s good to...woah, did you just say babies? Does this mean we’re having more than one? Seriously?”
“Yep, we’re having twins! The doctor said it was hard to believe he didn’t spot them before now, but he said one was hiding behind the other, making it hard for him to see both of them. Yesterday they were both out though and we were able to see both of them and tell exactly what they were.”
“Well, what are we having?”
“We’re having twin...boys!” I exclaimed as Teddy shut the front door and wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug. “Ouch, watch it. I’ve got two little babies in there. They love you and all, but they don’t want to be squished,” I giggled.
“I can’t believe we are having twin boys. This is like a dream come true. Can we name one after me since there’s two of them?”
“We can name one after my dad and one after you, yes.”
“This is the third best day of my life,” Teddy said in excitement as he picked me up and spun me around.
“Well, what were the first and second best days of your life?”
“The first day was when I met you for the first time, that one fateful day in Telluride. My second favorite day was our wedding day,” he smiled as he carried me into our bedroom and lay me down gently on our bed. “You are the most adorable pregnant woman I’ve ever seen. You don’t know how badly I want to...”
“I know. Believe me, it’s killing me too. They say you can have sex when you’re pregnant, but I’m not so sure I want to do that. It won’t mess the baby up or anything but still,” I sighed. “I feel fat. I don’t want you to see me naked like this. I’m too ugly,” I cried.
“Aw, baby, you aren’t ugly.”
“You would make fun of me! Trust me, you don’t want to see me naked either.”
“I would not make fun of you! You know better than that, and you know me...I will always want to see you naked.”
“I just don’t want to. I feel too ugly for you.”
“Babyyyy,” Teddy whined as he sat Indian style across from me. “You’re NOT too ugly for me. I told you that you are the hottest pregnant woman I’ve ever seen. What do you say we give it an attempt? If anything feels weird or wrong we can stop.”
“I don’t want to,” I cried as I got off of our bed and ran into the bathroom. I slammed the door shut and went to sit down in front of the bath tub. Moments later Teddy was pushing the door open and walking into our bathroom.
“Sweetie, you aren’t ugly. You’re saying all of these things because you are pregnant. Your emotions are going to sky rocket now that you’re pregnant.”
‘It is NOT because I’m pregnant. It’s NOT because of my emotions. I truly am fat and useless! All of this was a mistake. This wasn’t supposed to happen again...not this soon,” I cried as Teddy pulled me into a hug. Man, how I’d missed those hugs of his.
“This was not a mistake. God is simply trying to bless the two of us in the best way possible. He knows the pain we went through with the loss of our first baby. Now he sees how we’ve matured, and he thinks it’s time we get TWO blessings this time. This was supposed to happen! This is right.”
Teddy was making a lot of sense right now. He was right. This wasn’t a mistake. God was just blessing us, blessing our marriage. I was letting my emotions get the best of me, and I was starting to feel bad for putting Teddy through this, but I’m sure he understood. All pregnant women went through emotional times like this.
“So, what do you say we go out tonight?” Teddy asked me.
“I don’t want to go out. I just want to stay at home,” I told him.
“You need to get out, hun. You can’t just stay inside all the time.”
“I want to stay inside though. I don’t want to be out in public that much. You know, people STILL recognize me for my so called music career. It’s kind of embarrassing when it happens. Right now I just want to stay inside, with you,” I whispered as Teddy let go of me and stood up to help me get up off the floor.
“Woops, be careful,” Teddy said as he caught me before I fell forward. “Well, if we’re going to stay home then what are we going to do?”
“I could cook something.”
“I’m not all that hungry, not right now.”
“Then what do you suggest we do?”
“I’ve already told you what I wanted to do. You should know me by now. That’s all I ever want to do sometimes.”
“Yeah,” I sighed as I lay back down on mine and Teddy’s bed. “Okay.”
“Okay, what?”
“I’ll be honest with you. I want it too. I’m just scared, you know. I don’t want anything to happen to the baby. I know they say nothing should happen to the baby, but I’m just scared.”
“I promise I’ll be a lot safer than ever before. In case you forgot, we did do it our honeymoon night. I know the babies weren’t as developed as they are now but still...it happened.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Okay. If you really want to do it then let’s do it.”
“How about we just wait? I don’t want to make you do something you don’t want to do right now. Right now I’ll take you up on that cooking offer. Maybe that’ll spark something and get us in the mood.”
“Okay,” I said with a smile as Teddy picked me up and carried me out to the kitchen.
