Later that evening, Becca still couldn't believe what had happened. She blamed herself for not speaking up, but its one of those things thats hard to talk about. What if it turned out he really hadn't liked her when she said something? Not only would she feel ridiculous, he might have acted differently around her. But now she knew she couldn't say anything, which was the worst part.
She lay in the floor with a set of oversized headphones hooked up to her stereo on her head.
Just as 'Teardrops On My Guitar' finished, she felt her phone vibrating on the floor beside her. Julie.
"How's it goin'?"
"Ugh. Don't get me started," she groaned.
"Oh come on. It can't be all that bad up there," Julie laughed.
"Oh it can be."
"How did those tryouts go?" She heard Julie's boyfriend, Matt yell.
"Yeah how did those go? Is that what you're depressed about?"
Becca chuckled. "No. I made the team."
"Good because you're a friggin' kick a** volleyball player." Julie laughed and Becca couldn't help but laugh at her cousin.
"Do you want to hear this or not?"
"Do tell!"
"Ok, so you know your whole theory about how Teddy has this huge thing for me?"
"And how you secretly have a huge thing for him too, you just won't admit it? Yeah, I remember that one," Julie laughed.
"Anyway.. I finally admit it to myself, and I can't get up the courage to tell him."
"And you're depressed about that?" Matt yelled from the background.
"Why am I on speaker phone? Anyway- So the first day of school, we met this girl Amie and her twin brother Chase, and they're really cool and new and everything, Chase plays football, and Amie's just like you Jules, but anyway- She's all like 'Are you guys dating?' And I make up some lie about how I don't know what I'm looking for? I mean what's up with that?"
"I think you need to calm down," Matt laughed.
"Shut up Matt," she could hear Julie elbow him in the side. "Anyway... You should calm down, just let this thing play out and see where it goes from here. Ok? I need to go, but call me next week and let me know what's up, k?"
"Ok. Bye bye." Becca hung up her phone, and noticed voices in the living room.
She noticed she had been lying in her bedroom floor for over an hour, and she had grown considerably hungry while doing so.
"Becca is that you?" Her dad called. "Lily's here."
Lilly! She thought. Lilly was her favorite sister. She had been in Paris for six months working on her clothing line. Her sister was the epitome of single, independent, successful, sexy woman, and Becca respected her for it.
"Lilly!" Becca ran excitedly to greet her sister, as well as the bag of clothing on the floor next to her.
"How have you been? Mom and dad say you've been doing better this year."
"Yeah. I have, you know, I guess after going back and seeing how nothing in Dillon had changed in a year, I realized I didn't need to cling to it so much. It'll still be there when I want to visit. No biggie."
"Good. I'm glad you're having fun now. How about that rock star friend of yours? I brought him some of my clothes."
"He's... On a date. With our other best friend Amie. She's knew. From Maine. Has a twin brother."
"Oh.. Is he cute?"
"Ok, we're going to go in the kitchen and order pizza now, aren't we hon," their mother said to their dad.
"Huh? Oh yeah. Sorry, I was just so involved in this soap opera, I just... Couldn't tear my eyes away." Her dad was always such a sarcastic goofball.
Becca shrugged. "I guess. I... I kinda... have a thing for Teddy."
"Ohh, I'm sorry." Lilly said as she tucked her dark blond hair behind her ear. "So how come home girl asked him out then?"
"Well, I can't really be mad at her, since I didn't tell her I like him."
Lilly nodded in understanding. "I miss high school. You think I could pass for a teenager again?"
Becca laughed at her sister.
"But anyway... Maybe the two of them were just weighing their options, ya know? Just seeing if there was something there."
"I hope so," Becca agreed and nodded her head. "Julie told me just to wait it out and see what happens."
"Good idea," Lilly agreed, before throwing the bag of clothes at her sister. "Now, let's try these on!"

Later, Lilly and Becca decided to pick the pizza up, since the Italian restaurant their parents had ordered it from didn't deliver.
"You got your car back!"
"Yes I did! And it's a good thing too, because I was seriously going to steal a car if I didn't get my own transportation soon," Becca laughed as they climbed in.
"Is this Ted's music?" Lilly asked curiously after they had been driving for a few minutes.
"Sure is," Becca smiled as she thought about him.
"Look at you! You must really like him!" Lilly pointed out as Becca felt her cheeks growing pink.
"Shut up! I know I look like a silly little girl!" Becca laughed as they pulled into the parking lot. "Oh my gosh!"
"What?"
"That's Teddy's car." Becca said as she pointed to the white, practically brand new civic.
They made their way inside, and while Becca tried not to act like she was looking for them, she really was. It didn't take long to spot them though, because they were seated fairly close to the door.
She didn't want to interrupt, but she couldn't help but watch. They looked like they were having a good time. Just like a couple.
He was smiling and laughing at something Amie had said. Becca felt her jealousy building up inside her just as Teddy happened to look up and see her standing there with Lilly.
She and Lilly both gave small waves before stepping up to retrieve their pizzas and pay for them.
As they were leaving, Becca gave them one more look, and noticed that Teddy had been watching her.
He gave her a small smile and a wink before they made it out the door.
"Oh my gosh!" Becca exclaimed. "It was so hard to not go over there and bother them!"
Lilly laughed at her. "I'm sure it was. But you did the right thing. Let them find out on their own."
"Yeah." I guess so.
She wondered what that wink was about. Was it a 'Don't worry, this date doesn't mean anything to me' or just as friendly wink that really didn't mean anything?
She had a feeling she was going to be up all night wondering what had gone on during their date.
