She sighed as she stood on Tim's porch. It had been a great week for her, and it was time to go home. She had just one more thing to do.

She didn't want to do it, but she knew she had to because if she didn't, no one would ever be happy. She learned this from Lyla Garrity.

It had started out as a simple conversations with the usual 'Hey, how are you's' and the 'How is your family doing's', but then it turned into "How are you and Tim?" She could here Lyla's girly voice saying it now.

"How are you and Tim?"

"We're good." Becca had responded as she waited for her food.

"That's good. I've never seen him doing so good." Lyla stated. "He doesn't drink as much, and there's no girls. He's changed."

Becca thought about this. She knew Lyla was the girl that Tim would always be madly in love with no matter who he was with. And while Lyla herself couldn't exactly stay away from him either, she had a stronger will than he.

"You know," Becca began. "Coming back here has been kind of a revelation for me."

"What do you mean?"

"Well," Becca tucked her dark brown hair behind her ear, "Well, before I left, all I could think about was leaving and going somewhere else, then when my parents moved me, all I wanted to do was come back."

Becca laughed. "And, I think because of Tim, I wasn't giving New York a fair chance. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Dillon, it's a great place, but everybody needs to get out of it and give something else a chance for awhile."

"So where does Tim fit into this?" Lyla laughed.

"I think that Tim was the reason why I've hated New York so much and refused to make any friends, except for Teddy, he sort of forced friendship on me." Becca laughed. "And I'll always care about him, but I really think. . ."

"Time to let go?" Lyla finished her sentence. Becca nodded and smiled as Matt, who had been listening handed her a bag of food.

"Thanks Matt." She smiled. "And if you tell Tim this at practice, I'll kill you. Plus, I think Julie might want to keep you around for awhile."

"Wait- Julie. ." Becca smiled at him and raised her arms defensively.

"The girl talks in her sleep." She made her way to the door. "I'm leaving tomorrow, so I won't see you guys for awhile, so have fun. Get to state, and Lyla - Tim loves you. He really does."

She felt good. For the first time in a long time it was like she knew what she was doing.

She knocked on his door and took a deep breath as his brother opened the door. "TIM!" He faced her again and smiled before letting her inside.

She knew he would be in his room. She tapped lightly on the door as she pushed it open to see him, as well as Jason Street watching something on TV.

"Hey Jay."

"You're leaving tomorrow morning right?" Jason asked and Becca nodded. "Well, have fun in New York. I'll give you two a minute."

"Oh Jay, this is for you," she said as she pulled an I love New York shirt. She had bought one for each of her closest friends before she left.

"Thanks. See ya." he smiled as he wheeled himself out of Tim's room.

"So what's up?" Tim smiled at her, and she gave him a small smile.

"As you know, I'm leaving tomorrow," she began, and he looked down at his hands as she continued. He didn't say anything until she finished.

"I know what you mean." She smiled as they both let out a sigh of relief and chuckled. "But I like you as a friend. You're a great listener."

She rolled her eyes. "With two older sisters and Julie as a cousin, I've had tons of practice."

He smiled and laughed. He had a beautiful smile. He spread his arms and they gave each other a quick hug.

"So um, I'll see you next time I visit," She said as she headed for the door.

"Bye Becks."

"Oh," she turned around. "I think there's a certain dark haired ex-cheerleader who may be looking for you down at the Alamo Freeze."

He gave her a small smile as she left his house, saying goodbye to Jason and Billy on the way out.

"So you're single now?" Julie laughed. "How did you break up with Tim Riggins, you're one and only?"

"Yeah, how did you do that?" Teddy laughed.

"I just realized I wasn't giving New York a fair chance, and I wanted to be able to truly experience it and not have anything holding me back, so. . ."She smiled and shrugged. "Thats it."

"Are you sure that's why?" Teddy laughed.

"What?"

"Well, I saw the way you were looking at my butt earlier..." he stated and she rolled her eyes before letting out a big laugh.

"You caught me, Ted. That's exactly why."

Well, it was sort of why...

Teddy, barefoot with a cowboy hat and his feet propped up on the edge of the open window. It was like a scene from some sort of movie. He looked like a picture.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked him and he shrugged.

"The wind, I guess." He laughed. "It just felt really good on my toes."

"You goofball."

"You like it." He laughed and she had to agree. She did like his silly side. "But seriously, I liked Texas. It was... relaxing."

She nodded as she watched the road and took a sip of her soda. "Good."

"Everybody's so cool there. Except for Smash... he's a little..."

She laughed. "He's always been that way, hun."

He smiled as he took a drink of his own soda. "So you... You're giving New York a chance."

She nodded and smiled at him. "That I am."

"Good, because it would be a shame for the two of us to have to go through our senior year with one of us hating the state in which we live."

"What?" She giggled at him as he laughed too.

When their laughter had subsided, Teddy spoke up "You have a nice laugh."

She looked at him - really looked at him and smiled. She liked him.

Yeah, I know it was really short.
I typed more too it, but it didn't flow, so while I already had the short part typed, I posted it.

I sound like a disorganized freak, but sometimes short updates work better for me.
