So here's the next chapter. Hope you all like it. =]
Chapter 39
I woke up and instantly knew it was going to be a good day. Today was my eighteenth birthday and I couldn’t wait for it to get started.
I gathered up my things and went to take a shower before heading downstairs. I usually never showed my face until I was clean and ready for the day. I decided I could take an extra long shower today, since it was my special day and all.
When I got out of the shower, I wasn’t expecting much of anything to happen until I went downstairs, chatted with the family and called Teddy. I wasn’t expecting anything… but oh my was there something there. Sitting on my bed as I walked back into my room was a brand new bass guitar with a big red bow on it. I could have died right there. It was so amazing. I let out a scream just before someone decided it was the right time to knock on the door.
I walked over to open it, my mind started racing as to who it could be. Who had gotten me this amazing gift?
As I opened the door I saw my brother standing there with a smile.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE SISTER!!!” he shouted. “So I take it you like your gift? Or is something wrong, because I did hear a scream. And if it wasn’t the good kind of scream I’ll…” he started, looking around the room.
I laughed and pulled him into a hug. “I love it!”
“Really?”
“Of course. I wasn’t expecting this at all.”
“Let me guess… you were expecting me to say something about how I made you breakfast for your birthday, am I right?”
“Well that’s usually what you get me every year. I assumed this year would be the same…”
“But there’s something different about this year,” he said with a smile.
“And… you know as well as anyone else how much I hate secrets… tell me already!”
“Well… you know how I’ve been playing in coffee shops and such right?”
“Yeah…”
“And I recorded my own EP back in California… self produced, because no one would produce it for me?”
“Yeah…”
“Well, one of the copies of that EP found its way into some very important hands… and he came to hear me play last week.”
“And you didn’t tell me?”
“No, but there’s more. He wants to produce a full length album and try to get me signed to a label.”
“So this means…”
“It means that what’s different about this birthday is that I’m gonna be famous, so I figured I could splurge a little.”
“You’re really gonna be famous?”
“Well, it’ll be a slow process, but I believe so. With the right connections it really could happen, and this producer thinks I could be big.”
“We all know you’re gonna be huge,” I said with a grin. “My brother the famous rock star,” I laughed. “THIS IS INCREDIBLE!” I shouted, giving him another hug. “Don’t forget about me when you do get famous.”
“Of course I won’t. I’ll be bringing you on tour with me as my opening act,” he smiled. “I’ve already mentioned to Jason how talented you are. He said he’d like to meet you sometime.”
“Are you kidding me?”
“Nope. So… what do you think?”
“It’s… it’s… incredible, amazing, wonderful, great… there’s not one single word that I could use to tell you what I’m feeling right now. Oh gosh, I have to call Teddy.”
“Huh? This is about us, not Teddy.”
“I know, but I have to tell him. This is news that needs to be shared… plus I promised yesterday that I’d call him when I woke up so we could spend the whole day together,” I said as I picked up my cell phone.
“I don’t think that’s such a good idea.”
“Why not?”
“Can’t we keep it a secret for a little bit? I haven’t even told mom and dad yet.”
“Fine, but I still need to call him.”
“Whatever, do what you must,” he said with a sigh as he walked towards the door. “I’ll be downstairs when you’re ready to come down.”
“Okay, congratulations buddy. I’ll be down in a few minutes.”
I wonder what his problem was. It’s not like he could expect me to not call my boyfriend when I got amazing news like that. I dialed Teddy’s number and waited for an answer.
“About time you called me,” he said. I could hear him smiling.
“Well, I figured you’d need a chance to wake up and get ready before I spring some pretty amazing news on you. But you wanted to spend the day together… so what are we gonna do?”
“Uh, have you been downstairs to spend some time with your family yet? Because I don’t want to jeopardize all your time. We are gonna be gone until pretty late tonight.”
“Okay, I’ll head down there and spend some time with them, then are you gonna come pick me up? I wanna know what you have planned.”
“You do know that I’m not gonna tell you anything, right?”
“Yeah, but I was hoping you’d forget and just tell me anyway.”
“Not gonna happen. Now go downstairs and enjoy your birthday with your family. I’ll see you soon.”
“Okay, I love you Teddy.”
“Yep, I know.”
“Oh really… that’s all you have to say, I know.”
“Well…” he chuckled. “I love you too. Now go.”
“Alright, alright geesh. I’m going. Bye Tedster.”
“Bye Ayerplane.”
As I walked downstairs, I could hear voices, and it was more than just my parents. I could tell one of the voices belonged to Chris, but the other one… I could’ve sworn it sounded like Teddy, but I just talked to him on the phone, so I couldn’t be him… could it?
I got to the bottom of the stairs and realized that it was indeed my boyfriend. That little sneak. Oh, was he ever in for it. I hurried back upstairs and quietly shut my bedroom door. I pulled out my phone and dialed his number.
