Chapter 9
A few more days passed, and Teddy and I were back on good terms again. We were talking to each other in person and on the phone, e-mailing one another constantly, and had even gone out to lunch or dinner a few times. Things were great with Teddy which now meant I had to make things great with Katie.
It was a typical Saturday afternoon for me, boring. So, I called Katie up to see if she wanted to meet up at Broad Street Café so we could talk everything over. I wasn’t going to let our friendship go down the drain because of something so small that didn’t last long at all.
But before I left to meet up with Katie, I had to talk to Teddy.
“Hey…” I said as I walked into the living room and found Teddy stretched out on the couch.
“Hey, where are you going?” he questioned.
“Oh, I’m meeting up with Katie so we can talk about everything…but that’s not why I came in here. I came in here to find out what happened the other night?”
“We were watching a movie and you fell asleep not even five minutes into the movie. You had your head on my shoulder, so I didn’t move. I ended up staying the night.”
“Oh, okay, that’s all I was wondering. I had better hurry up and get down to Broad Street Café. I’m already a few minutes late. I will see you later,” I said as I kissed Teddy’s forehead.
-In Love with a Memory-
I walked into the restaurant and saw Katie was sitting at a table. I smiled a simple smile and waved at her. I hoped that this talk would go well and not end with us yelling at each other.
“Hi…long time no see,” I said as I hugged Katie and followed by sitting down in my seat, which was across the table from Katie.
“So…how have you been? How has Teddy been?” Katie asked.
“I’ve been great. Things with Teddy weren’t so great, but they are now much better. We broke up for a little while, but got back together yesterday. How have you been?”
“I’ve been great as well, hanging out with my new guy often. And by the way, I’m glad to hear that you and Ted are back together. I also want to tell you that I am sorry for basically causing the whole break up. You don’t know how much it upset me to find out that you and Teddy had somewhat broken up.”
“Yeah, it was hard, but I guess it’s okay now. I forgive you.”
“I am so glad to hear you say that you forgive me. It means a lot to hear you say that. I was so worried that I was going to leave here today without a best friend.”
“Nope, that isn’t the case. You are leaving here today with someone who still remains your best friend.”
“That’s cool,” Katie said.
-In Love with a Memory-
The dinner with Katie had passed, and everything went well…a lot better than I had ever expected. We didn’t fight, argue, or anything of that nature. Everything was cool, calm, and collective. Now I was back at my house and getting ready to tell Teddy about the lunch with Katie.
“So…how’d it go?” Teddy asked as I sat down on the couch next to him.
“It went surprisingly well. We didn’t argue, fight, or anything like that. It was a nice lunch,” I replied with a simple smile.
“That’s good to hear. I’m glad you didn’t come back upset or in tears.”
“Yeah, I am too.”
“So…what did the two of you talk about?”
“We didn’t talk about much, really. She told me about the new guy she’s hanging out with now.”
“I’m glad to hear that she found someone new.”
“Yeah, I am glad too. She sounded REALLY happy when she was telling me about him. He seems like a nice guy. She told me we’d have to meet him someday.”
“We just might have to do that.”
“So, what do you want to do?”
“How about we watch a movie?”
“Okay, do you have a movie in mind?”
“Nope, do you?”
“As a matter of fact, I do have a movie in mind. My mom rented ‘Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector’ with our Netflix account and it came in yesterday. I’m DYING to watch it. Can we watch that?”
“I’ve never seen or heard of it, so I guess we can watch it. What type of movie is it?” Teddy asked. “Oh wait a minute…isn’t Larry the Cable Guy a comedian?”
“Yeah, he is. He did the Blue Collar Comedy Tour and the TV show Blue Collar TV.”
“Oh yeah, I have heard of him but not this movie. Let’s watch it.”
“Okay, good! It is supposed to be REALLY funny.”
“What’s it about?”
“All I know is that he is a health inspector.”
“Sounds interesting?” Teddy said with a laugh.
