Chapter 7
The next morning came, and I woke up with a smile on my face. For once in my life I had a boyfriend that I really and truly liked. I was still in shock that Teddy and I were dating but knew deep down in my heart that it was right.
“I cannot believe he postponed his tour. Is the kid crazy?” Katie said as she put her pajamas back into the small bag she had brought with her to the hotel. “He must be crazy to do something like that. You and him getting together may cause him to lose a few friends or have some friends that are really upset with him.”
“Katie, I do not want to talk about that right now because I know it’s going to spark an argument between the two of us. That’s not something I want to deal with this early in the morning. Let’s just get our stuff together and get out of here,” I simply replied trying to avoid all routes that would take me into an argument with Katie.
-In Love with a Memory-
After throwing all of my stuff into my bag, I grabbed my bag and purse and headed out of the room before an argument started. I could tell there was some tension in the room after Katie made the statement about Teddy postponing is tour.
“Morning sunshine,” I said as I snuck up behind Teddy who was standing in the lobby, waiting for me to come down and say goodbye.
“Good morning,” Teddy replied with a smile as he hugged me. “You don’t sound so happy. Is there something wrong?”
“Katie was just…I don’t know. She is upset about you postponing the tour or whatever. Then she said something about the two of us starting to date and how it was going to cause you to lose some fans or have them mad at you. It was like she was putting the blame on me. I had to get out of our room before we started to get into an argument.”
“I highly doubt she meant what she said. And so what if some people get angry with me. It’s my decision. I want to spend time with you, and that’s what I am going to do.”
“I know it was your decision, but I’m starting to think you shouldn’t have postponed the tour.”
“It’s too late to start it up again…at least I think it is.”
“No, it isn’t. I have an idea.”
“What would that idea be?”
“What if you started the tour back up again? And what if I went out on tour with you for a few weeks? That way we would get to spend time together, and you wouldn’t have to postpone the tour. That would make a lot of people happy, especially me.”
“And I love making you happy…so I will run that idea by my mom and let her run the idea by my managers and all the other important people.”
“Aren’t you glad I came up with that brilliant idea?”
“What brilliant idea did you come up with this time? Is he quitting the biz now?” Katie scoffed as she walked past me and Teddy.
“I don’t know why you are so upset about him postponing the tour,” I said as Katie stopped and turned around to face Teddy and me.
“Maybe I am not upset because of that. You never know, it could be a different reason. For all you know I could be upset that he’s dating you because you aren’t right for him or something…oh yeah, that IS it,” Katie said as she turned back around and walked out of the hotel.
“I cannot believe she just said that. Why would she say that? She is like my best friend. I never imagined her saying anything like that. I thought she would be happy that I have someone that I truly care about, but instead she’s dissing the thought of me even having one saying that I’m not right for you. I feel horrible,” I said as I sat down in a chair and felt the tears roll down the side of my face.
“Don’t feel horrible. You didn’t do anything wrong Kourtni. She’s just overreacting for some odd reason. I’ll go see if I can talk to her and figure out what’s going on in her head,” Teddy said as he kissed my forehead and then turned to go find Katie so he could try talking to her.

-Teddy’s Point of View-
I walked out of the hotel and looked for Katie. I looked to my left and there was no Katie. I looked to my right and there was Katie, putting her stuff into the backseat of a cab. Was I too late to try and talk to her?
“KATIE…wait up! We need to talk,” I called out after her as I ran towards the cab.
Katie shut the cab door and leaned up against the cab.
“What do you want to talk about?” Katie somewhat scoffed as I reached her.
“What’s up with you getting so upset about me postponing the tour and dating Kourtni? I’m a big boy. I can do whatever I want without having to ask your permission. I hope you know that.”
“Maybe I’m jealous.”
“Jealous of what? You have nothing to be jealous of.”
“I am jealous that Kourtni got you and I didn’t.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I liked you Ted. I never wanted to tell anyone because I was scared of what people would think. It looks like my ex-best friend beat me to it. Enjoy your time with Kourtni. She’s a nice person. You deserve someone nice in your life. Bye…who knows when I’ll see you again,” Katie said as she opened the cab door and seconds later slipped into the backseat.
-In Love with a Memory-
Teddy walked back into the hotel with a puzzled look on his face. He couldn’t keep his hands out of his hair. He’d run his fingers through his hair and start the cycle all over again. Something big had just happened.
“What happened? What did you say? Did you talk some sense into her? What happened? I am dying to know here,” I said as I stood up and walked over to Teddy before he could reach the chair that I had been sitting in.
“She left in a cab,” was all Teddy managed to say first. That didn’t answer any of my questions.
“That’s nice Ted, but what did she say to you? Did she tell you why she was so upset?”
“She was upset not because I postponed the tour, but upset because I was dating you and not her. She said that she had liked me for a while but could never tell me. Her final words to me were that I deserved someone nice in my life, like you. Then she said she didn’t know when she would see me again, got in the cab, and the cab drove off.”
“Katie liked you this whole time? I would’ve never expected to hear that.”
“Yeah…I didn’t expect to hear it either. Now I don’t know what to think. I don’t want to hurt my good friend, but then I don’t want to do something that’ll screw up our relationship.”
“What do you mean you don’t want to do something that will screw up our relationship? Are you saying that you just contemplated possibly breaking up with me?”
“I wasn’t necessarily saying that…no.”
“Teddy Geiger…you just hesitated before saying that! That means you were SO thinking about breaking up with me just to make Katie happy. You cannot be joking with me right now. I cannot BELIEVE you. I am leaving now and going home. I don’t know when or if I’ll see you again,” I said as I stormed out of the hotel.
