Chapter 8
It had been a few months since I had last seen Teddy. The day after Teddy and I made up, after me catching him with Alyssa, he ended up having to leave and get back on the road. He wasn’t able to stop and visit much because he was so booked on appearances. I was now nearing time for the baby to be born and there was still no word from Teddy. I was starting to become worried.
“I’m scared,” I said as I sat in the parking lot of my doctor’s office. “What if he doesn’t get back in time?”
“If he doesn’t get back then there’s nothing you can do about it. I’m sure he will get here as soon as he can though,” Jamie shrugged as I turned off the car and opened my door.
“Do you want us to go in with you?” Alyssa asked as I slowly got out of the car.
“It would be nice to have SOME form of support since my main supporter is out in California,” I sighed as I shut the car door and headed towards the office.
-When It Comes-
Right as I walked in the office, the secretary lady was walking out with papers in her hand.
“Ah…Miss Cooper, Dr. Johnson is ready to see you,” she smiled as I followed her back to the room where I was scheduled to meet with my doctor.
“Hello Dr. Johnson,” I smiled as I walked into the room where my doctor was seated on a stool waiting for me to walk in.
“Where’s Teddy at today?” she questioned as we shook hands.
“He is touring out in California. My two best friends came with me though. I think they are out in the waiting room. I’d rather them not come back here.”
“Alright, that’s fine…now lean back and get yourself situated and prepared for the ultrasound and examination.”
I simply smiled as I lay back on the table.
-When It Comes-
The ultrasound portion of the appointment went well. I could see my little girl moving around. It was nice to see.
“So, how much longer until we get to see this little girl?” I questioned as my doctor took off her gloves.
“We need to get you into a hospital like now. You’re already three centimeters. If this pace keeps up, you’ll be having a baby in just a few hours,” my doctor said. “Get your friends to drive you to the hospital and everything. I will meet you over there in five minutes. Okay?”
“Okay,” I said as I got off the table and headed out to the waiting room.
-When It Comes-
“How did it go?” Jamie asked as I entered the waiting room.
“We’ve got to get to the hospital…and fast. I’m three centimeters dilated right now and feeling every single contraction. I need that epidural,” I said as I put my hand on my stomach. “The doctor said for you or Alyssa to drive me over there. After I get situated in my room I’m going to have to send one of you back to my house and get the overnight bag, bottles, and car seat.”
“Let’s get going. We don’t need to waste any time right now. Have you called Teddy yet? Hold on, that was stupid question. Do you want me to call Teddy when I head back to your house to get all the stuff for you?” Alyssa asked.
“How about the both of you go, so one of you can go and get your own cars so that ya’ll can leave whenever you need to? I will call Teddy’s mom and my mom and get them to come up there while the two of you are running the errands for me,” I said as we headed out the door to the doctor’s office.
-When It Comes-
It had been two hours since I was first admitted into the hospital. So far I was six, almost seven centimeters dilated. Both Teddy’s mom and my mom had shown up at the hospital, with Alyssa and Jamie due back at any minute. We were still having trouble getting up with Teddy.
“Would you like for me to try him again?” Teddy’s mom asked.
“Can I try now that I’ve gotten the epidural? Maybe I won’t be screaming my lungs out because of pain when I call him this time,” I somewhat laughed as she handed me her cell phone. “Thanks,” I smiled as I dialed Teddy’s number.
-When It Comes-
-Teddy’s POV-
I had been rehearsing with my band for tonight’s show for about an hour. Then out of nowhere my cell phone started to play. I could tell by the ring tone that it was probably my mom calling.
“Hello,” I answered.
“I would recommend that you get the next flight back to Alabama…and fast,” Kourtni said. I was surprised to hear her voice.
“What are you talking about? Oh no, please don’t tell me you are fixing to have the baby.”
“Yeah, the doctor says I should be delivering her within the next four hours or so. I’m almost seven centimeters dilated.”
“Oh my gosh…I feel like the worst boyfriend ever for missing this. But there’s no way I can leave now. The show is in like forty-five minutes. And besides, I’ve checked and all flights are book until tomorrow morning. I want to get back but there’s just no way…at least not today.”
“It’s okay. I’m sure SOMEONE will have this whole thing on video, probably one of our moms. Just get here whenever you can…okay?”
“I promise to call you as soon as the show is over and check on you…and possibly the little one. Please forgive me for not being there. You don’t know how much I’m hating myself right now.”
“Don’t hate yourself Ted. Things like this are going to happen since you have the career that you have.”
“Well, I need to be getting off this thing and getting backstage so that I can get ready. I PROMISE to call you the second I get back into my dressing room after the show. Okay?”
“Alrighty…bye,” Kourtni said as she hung up the phone.
-When It Comes-
Two good hours had passed since I had talked to Teddy. He called his mom’s phone once, but I wasn’t able to talk to him since I was in the middle of delivering the baby. Now I was waiting for the nurses to bring my little girl back to me. I sat in the room by myself as all the guests were down the hall watching the little one get herself cleaned off and wrapped up by the nurses.
“Your mom told me you called,” I said as Teddy picked up his cell phone.
“How are you feeling?” Teddy asked as the door to my hospital room opened to have the visitors walking in seconds later.
“I am a little tired, but everything has been well worth it. We have a beautiful little girl who weighed in at seven pounds and seven ounces, measuring out to twenty inches long.”
“And what’s the little one’s name again?”
“Her name is Landon Kate…Geiger.”
“I bet she’s gorgeous, just like her mom.”
“She isn’t remotely close to looking like me Ted. I promise she looks EXACTLY like you. She has your eyes, nose, mouth, hair…EVERYTHING.”
“Ah, I’m sure she looks a little bit like you.”
“I don’t think she does, but that’s just me.”
“She has to look something like you. Anyways, my flight is leaving around six tomorrow morning. I should touch down in Alabama around eight or nine. Are you still going to be in the hospital then?”
“Probably so,” I sighed as I saw Drake and Jamie walked into the room, hand-in-hand.
“Do you have any clue as to when they’ll let you go home?”
“It’ll probably be late tomorrow afternoon.”
“I have something else to tell you.”
“What is it?”
“Happy birthday to you…and little Landon Kate; I bet you didn’t even remember it was your birthday.”
“Nope…I sure didn’t,” I said with a smile as I saw the nurse rolling little Landon back into the room. “I need to be going. The nurse is bringing Landon back into the room. And I think I need to feed her or something like that. I will call you in the morning when I wake up. Okay?”
“Okay…cannot wait to hear from you,” Teddy said. “Bye.”
“Bye,” I said as I hung up the phone.
and my birthday is April 23rd, just in case you were wondering about the date i was referring to. lol.

Thanks for the comments to those three of you who left them. Sorry I couldn't post sooner, but I was wathcing a kick butt movie. lol. I will start on the next chapter sometime today and hopefully get it posted soon!
