Hey guys!! Here is the beginning of my new fic. I hope you enjoy this one as well. Tell me what you think about it! I would appreciate as much feedback as possible ;D
Chapter 1
Everyday I walked the same crowded hallways praying for a miracle. The miracle of being acknowledged. High school had started out well; I had many friends and I was in tons of sports and clubs. All of that changed at the end of my sophomore year.
My mom had started having hallucinations; she believed that there were aliens trying to invade her mind. One day after school, I came home and found her in the bathroom with a pen stuck in her ear. It was a mess to say the least.
After being taken to the hospital to remove the pen from her ear, she was admitted into a mental instituition. The best in all of Detroit. She lost hearing in her left ear from the pen being shoved in so deep.
My dad and I visit her from time to time, but she never says much. After that ordeal all of my "friends" at school started drifting away. Rumors ran wild across campus about me and my family. Everyone basically thought I would inherit the crazy gene too. Only one of my friends stood by me, Sarah. She is my best and pretty much my only friend. She's the only person who truly knows me.
"June! Hurry up, we're going to be late again!" I rushed to put my books in my bag.
"Go ahead. I'll catch up." I got to my seat just as the bell began to ring. My teacher, Mrs. Paulson, despised tardiness, especially since I had her right after lunch. I could feel her eyes on me, but I kept busy by taking out my notebook and pencil.
Thank goodness she let it slide this time. I knew next time I wouldn't be as fortunate. She began her monotonous history lecture. I had heard the same facts since elementary school. After class me and Sarah walked to my house to do homework.
"Hey dad" I called as I entered the door.
"Hey Mr. Lima." He was always home during the day. He worked all night as a doctor at the hospital.
"Hey Junebug" he said kissing my forehead. He had been calling me that since before I can remember.
"I'm starving" Sarah said rumaging through my refrigerator.
"Didn't we have lunch an hour ago?"
"You call cafeteria food lunch?" The cafeteria wasn't exactly a five star course meal. I grabbed some pizza rolls from the freezer and popped them in the microwave.
"Let's go up to my room and get started on the history worksheet" I said picking up my bag.
"I'll bring the rolls up for you when they are finished." As soon as we entered my room Sarah went to the stereo. Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child blasted through the speakers.
"Did you get your dress for homecoming yet?" I asked.
"No" she said with a sigh. "I don't like the way any of them look on me." I looked at her with a crooked smile.
"You wear the dress, the dress doesn't wear you." I laughed at myself for using such a cheesy line, but it was true. Sarah was a beautiful girl. She had dirtie blonde hair, which was styled in loose soft waves. She had the most stunning hazel eyes and she had the body of a supermodel.
"I wish you would come too June." I looked away from her.
"You know I don't go to dances and things anymore." She sighed once more.
"I know you don't, but you would look so great all dressed up."
"I don't know" I said. I never thought about it. I just knew I looked almost identical to my mother. I had medium brown hair, which was pretty curly. Green eyes just like hers and olive skin with an average body. I hadn't attended a school function in over a year and I wasn't going to start now.
"It's not for another month anyway. What are you stressing about?" I asked her.
"I have to find one soon before all of the good ones are gone."
"Gosh, I would hate to see you without a date" I added with a chuckle. Sarah was going with her boyfriend, Ryan. He was a nice guy and extremely funny. I think that is what she loves most about him. And the fact that he is good to me. He had moved here after all the drama so he had no biases.
"Pizza delivery!" my dad exclaimed as he came in. He was always acting goofy.
"Thanks" we said together. The rest of the afternoon was filled with homework, laughs, and pizza rolls.
Sorry I know that was kind of long, but I hope you like it. Comment Please!
