Yes school takes too much of my time!! Well I have the next chapter ready. I found some time to write it.
Chapter 5
It took almost three hours for me and Sarah to clean up my garage door. First we had the wash it down and then paint over it. The paint took two coats.
“Who do you think did it?” she asked.
“It could have been anyone. Our entire class hates me,” I said exasperated.
“That’s not true.” I rolled my eyes.
“Let me rephrase that, everyone except for you and Ryan.” She was silent for a moment because she knew I was right.
“Well Teddy seems to be pretty fond of you too.” I gathered the painting supplies and headed toward the house.
“We are nothing more than acquaintances, Sarah” I said over my shoulder.
After washing up, we went to my room. I headed to my closet to show Sarah her finished dress. She held it against herself in front of the mirror. It was a Peach colored dress with hints of soft pink at the bottom. The back of the dress was slightly longer then where the front ended. The top was a cowl neck with an open back and a small crisscross at the top made with petite crystals. I knew it would look amazing on her.
“It is absolutely perfect!” Sarah exclaimed with excitement. “I cannot wait to show this off at the dance! Thank you so much June.”
Homecoming night had finally arrived. Our school had won the football game against our rivals, Westfield High. I never was much into the spirit of competition though, so I didn’t really care who won. Sarah and Ryan stopped by before the dance for pictures.
“Hellooooo,” Sarah called through the mail slot. I opened the door just as she was coming up.
“I didn’t know Charlize Theron was in town,” I joked. She struck a pose in my doorway.
“I really wish you would come to the dance with us June,” she said in hopes of convincing me.
“I’ll be fine here at home, I don’t like dancing anyway.” I took my camera from the table and started snapping pictures of Sarah and Ryan.
“Come on Brad Pitt!” we both joked with Ryan. He gave a cheesy smile and his best superstar pose. We took a few more including some group pictures before they left.
I was left alone with nothing to do. There was a small part of me that wished I could go out to the school dances without being ridiculed, but for the most part I didn’t mind. I curled up on the couch with my dog Sammie to watch Ten Things I Hate About You. About half way through the movie there was a knock at my door. I was almost scared to open it after what had happened a couple weeks ago. Sammie wasn’t barking so I figured I was safe.
“Teddy?” I said in shock. He was wearing a tux and held a cd and a rose. He looked a bit embarrassed.
“Hi June,” he said shyly.
“What are you doing here?” I tried my best not to sound rude.
“I saw Sarah and Ryan at the dance and noticed you weren’t with them. After I found out you were here all by yourself I figured you could use some company.”
“Aren’t you missing the dance right now though?”
“Yeah, but to be honest, I’m not missing much.” I invited him in. I was still confused why he would come here to see me.
“I brought this for you,” he said handing me the rose. “There were no more florists open so I picked this on the way up the street.” I giggled at his honesty.
“What is the cd for?”
“Oh yeah,” he said, almost as if he had forgotten it. “I thought I would bring some music in case you wanted to dance.” I smiled at him and took the cd from his hand. It was Coldplay’s Parachutes.
“Do you mind if I change really quickly?” I was almost tempted to make him stay in the tux because he looked so good.
“Yeah, the bathroom is down the hall.” While he was changing I suddenly got nervous. I had no idea where it was coming from. I went to the mirror to check my hair and brushed out the wrinkles in my shirt. When he came out he was in jeans and a blue t-shirt. He still looked just as good.
I went back to watching the rest of the movie. Teddy came and sat next to me, well, not exactly next to me. Sammie was sandwiched in the middle.
“This is one of my favorite movies,” he commented.
“It is definitely mine,” I replied. After the movie we decided to put on the cd he had brought over.
“Good music choice. This is an excellent album,” I smiled.
“May I have this dance?” he asked jokingly putting his hand out. I just laughed. He began to blush when I didn’t accept.
“Oh are you serious?” I asked, somewhat embarrassed myself.
“Yeah, why not? It is homecoming.” We danced around my living room to the songs and talked here and there. As the song “Sparks” began to play, Teddy slowed down and held me a little closer. It felt a little awkward, but still nice. I looked up at him, to see his expression. He was already looking back at me. Then, without warning he leaned in and kissed me.
Enjoy!
