Chapter 10 is now finished! I wrote it kind of quickly, so I hope it turned out well.
I had fallen asleep waiting for Holly and Lisa in the car. I woke up just as she was pulling into my driveway. I stumbled out of the car still drowsy.
"Sorry about tonight, I really didn't know" Holly said to me. So it had happened, I had almost beleived it was only a dream. I crawled into bed without even changing. Hopefully I could forget this whole ordeal.The next morning I woke up early to get to church, I'd been going practically since I was born. "Forgive your neighbor......" The entire message was centered around forgiveness. If this wasn't a sign for me to forgive Teddy I don't know what is. But how could I forgive him for choosing his career over me?
When I got home I noticed I had a message on my answering machine. "Hey, I wish you would have stuck around last night. Sorry our meeting had to be so akward. I'm visiting LA for a while. You should give me a call and maybe we can meet up. 545-611-8230 Oh and this is Teddy. I stood there for a minute confused. How could he have gotten my number? I decided to call Holly and tell her about everything.
"Hey Nat, I knew you'd be calling soon." "And how is that?" I asked.
"I just know" she said with a sigh. I began "yeah so about the show yesterday.." she cut me off before I could finish.
"Oh I already know what happened, Teddy told me all about it." "You talked to him??" I yelled.
"Yeah, after the show I ran into him, and I gave him your number. I hope that's okay."
"Yea well thanks for asking! he wants to meet up with me now!"
I knew she had some sort of trick up her sleeve.
"Give it a try, you both have moved on so there's no reason you can't be friends" she reasoned. "Ugh I suppose you're right."
"Okay then call him now before he makes other plans for tonight!"
After hanging up with Holly I stood there staring at the phone. How weird was this? Well he did give me his number.....so he does want me to call right? But then again what if it was a fake number? I shook my head, I needed to stop thinking so much.
I finally mustered all of my nerve and dialed. Please don't pick up I begged as it rang.
"Hello?" silence "Hellooo?" Say something before he hangs up I thought.
"Hi it's me." how dumb he's not going to know who "me" is!
"Natalie!" he said to my suprise.
"I got your message this morning" I stammered.
"Yeah, I'm here at my girlfriends until the tour starts up again." Now I really felt like a fool.
"Well I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable by hanging out with you" I said.
"No worries, she'll be fine with it. I was thinking we could meet up around six at the Olive Garden."
"Uhh yaeh that sounds good. See you then." "Bye" he said cheerfully.
I immediately ran upstairs and started fishing through my closet for something to wear. After settling on dark jeans and a black tank top I got into the shower. Driving to meet him was the most nervewracking part. As I walked through the door I spotted him waiting for me. Gosh he looked good and sweet as ever.
"Have you been waiting long?" "Only about five minutes" he replied as he stood. We followed the waiter to our table. Both of us sat there scanning our menus. "It's really nice to see you again" he said looking up from his menu.I just gave him a quick smile. As we were sitting and talking his phine began to ring.
"Excuse me for a moment" he said getting up from the table. He walked over the the side near the bathrooms. "Who was that" I asked only realizing I was being nosy after I'd spoken.
"It was my girlfriend, she was a little upset and asking where I was."
"I thought you said you told her?" "I did, but she must have forgotten" he said quickly.
"So are you seeing anyone?" he asked. This made me somewhat choke on the water I was drinking. "Me? Umm....no, I haven't found anyone to be too interesting." I quickly turned the spotlight back to him.
"How are things with you and your girlfriend? What is her name?
"Her name is Casey, she is a really cool girl." I looked away and said, "that's good." I honestly wasn't interested in hearing about her.
"Well I'm full" I said placing a hand on my stomach. "Me too" he motioned with the same gesture. As we walked out to our cars it was pretty quiet. "Good night" he finally said. "Night" I said.
I got into my car and tried to start it, but it wasn't going to happen. "Stupid piece of crap" I said banging my hands on the wheel. I figured Teddy wouldn't be too far gone, so I called him to give me a lift.
"Thanks for coming back to get me." "Of course. I would never leave you stranded." I gave a small smile. "Here we are" I said as we approached my house. "You live here?" he asked quite suprised. "Yeah, is that a bad thing?" "No, not at all. It's just that Casey's house is only like 3 blocks from here."
"Small world" I shrugged. "Hopefully I will be seeing more of you from now on" I turned to him, "yea I would like that." I closed the door behind me and walked inside.
I don't know if this was a very good chapter, but I think it's okay. More excitement awaits!!
