Unexpected

Hey I am new to these boards, but I recently read "Comfortable" and "Home Life" and I absolutely loved them! I got inspired to write one of my own! So here is the first chapter, I hope you all like it!

Chapter 1:

There I was, one of the first four people sitting in class 20 minutes early. I had only come so early for fear that I might not find a seat. Boy, was I ever wrong. It was so quiet you could probably hear a pin drop. Eventually as more time passed the seats began to fill up. Now the clock read one minute till 9 o'clock. I was so focused on the clock that I hadn't noticed someone had taken the seat next to me. Before I had a chance to see who it was I was startled by a loud, booming voice.

"Good morning and welcome to Psych 101! My name is Mr. Towns, and I am looking forward to an excellent semester with all of you!"

"He seems enthusiastic" the voice next to me whispered. For the first time I turned to see who was sitting beside me. He introduced himself, "hi, I'm Teddy." "Natalie" I replied.

The next hour and a half went on with Mr. Town's enthusiasm. As the class packed up to leave Teddy turned to me and asked, "so are you a freshman here?" "Yeah I'm dorming here, but I am from L.A." "How about you?" I asked. "I am too, but I came here from New York." "That's cool" I said. "I have really got to hurry out of here though. I have work in 30 minutes." "Alright, see you next class!" he yelled to me as I jogged out of the room. "See ya!" I yelled back.

It is kind of short, but I have a few more chapters already done. I will post more later. I would like to hear what you guys think of it so far.

Chapter 2

The next day I came into class, but later this time. i had learned my lesson from last time. To my surprise Teddy came in and sat next to me again.
"Hey", "Hey" I replied back.
Everday for the next two weeks he sat next to me and we always made small talk.
Finally one Friday after class he stopped me and asked,
"We don't really get to talk all that much during class, so I was wondering if you'd like to go have coffee with me sometime?"
"Sure, that would be nice, here's my number, just call whenever."
"Okay, great!"
As I was walking to my car to head to work I thought Wow, a friendly good looking guy wants to have coffee with me?? I have got to tell someone!
I decided to call my best friends Holly and Lisa to tell them the exciting news. Both of them were still in L.A., I was the only one who had come down to San Diego.
First I called Holly. Please answer, please answer I repeated outloud.
"Hello?"
"Holly! I have some exciting news!" "What is it, it's a guy isn't it?" she always managed to read me like a book even when she couldn't see my face.
"Yes! I met him in my psych class, he's really nice and he asked me to have coffee with him!"
"OMG, that is so awesome! Do you know when you are going?"
"Well, no I just gave him my number." "Call lisa and tell her about it, I have to go to work right now."
"Oh I'm so happy for you, call me later and tell me how it went!"
"Yeah I definitely will! Talk to you soon! Bye." "Bye."

Chapter 3

It was Saturday evening and my roommate Alice was just getting back in.
"Where have you been?" "Out with Derek, I stayed at his place last night." Derek is Alice's boyfriend, a nice guy but a big jock, which means he pays more attention to sports than Alice most of the time.
"Do you have any plans tonight?" she asked me. "No, not so far, but I did meet a guy in class and gave him my number! He asked me to go out sometime." "whooo! Good, it's about time you start dating!" "It is not dating! It is just a friendly thing. I hardly know the guy!"
Alice was always making fun of me b/c I hadn't been out with a guy since the ninth grade. It's not that I didn't like guys, just none of them ever interested me enough.

Right then my cell phone rang. "Hello?" "Hey, it's Ted. Are you busy tonight?"
"No tonight sounds great."
"Okay I will come pick you up in 15 minutes." "K, I'll be down by the main entrance."

I hung up the phone and ran to get my bag before doing a mirror check. "Just a friendly thing huh?" Alice teased. You seem pretty excited about this guy."

"You would be too if a decent guy hadn't been around in four years!"
"Yea, Yea you say that now, but we'll see who ends up being right."
"Oh be quiet, I'm leaving now!" I said as I quickly closed the door behind me.

I began to get really nervous and anxious while waiting for Teddy. Stop thinking so much, Relax it's not even a date! I told myself.

Teddy pulled up in a dark green truck. I opened the door, "Hi" I said. "Hey, what's up?"
"So where are we going tonight?" I asked him. "Well since it is such a lovely evening, I thought we could go get some coffee and then go down to the pier at the beach."
"Sounds like a plan, I haven't gotten out much since I started here."
"Why is that?" he asked curiously. "I just don't really have any time, I have a lot of assignments and tests to study for." "Well I am glad that you made time for me." I was thankful it was already dark outside b/c this comment made me blush.

Here is the fourth chapter, I hope I am doing okay so far. Tell me what you like and don't like about it so far. I'll take some suggestions as well, that would be helpful



Teddy parked the car and we walked into the coffee shop. He held the door open for me.
"Thank you." "Anytime." After ordering we sat down at a table as we waited for our drinks. It was the first I had ever noticed what beautiful blue eyes he had. I don't know how I could have ever missed them, but they were so warm and kind and looking into them I felt safe.


"Natalie, Teddy!" the cashier shouted. We took our drinks and headed off to the beach. "Wow the moon is really bright tonight." "Yeah it looks really amazing." He said as he lokked at me. We found a quiet little bench and began talking.

"What brings you here all the way from New York?"
"Well actually it wasn't completely my idea to come here. I had applied to colleges mostly in New York and only one out of state which was San Diego. I got into one here and one over there. But my mom found out that they were holding auditions in L.A. for a reality show."

"Which show?" "Oh, In Search of the Partridge Family." "But I have always been more of a Brady Bunch Fan." Laughing I said "me too." "She always thought I'd do well as an actor, so she told me to come here since it is closest to L.A."


"Weren't you sad about leaving your friends and family?"

"Oh yea, of course, but it's good to go after new opportunities and plus I got to meet you."

Again Teddy had me blushing, he always had the sweetest things to say to me. "So how did the auditions go?"

"I haven't gone yet, it isn't until next week during Thanksgiving break."
"I'll be driving up there then." "
"But you won't be able to see your family on Thanksgiving, well I am going back up there to see my friends and family too."

He looked down at his feet and then hesitantly back up at me. I could tell what he was thinking.

"Maybe you could go up there with me?" "I'd take you to your house and then we could come back together." I sat in thought for a moment. I don't really know this guy what if he turns out to be some kind of freak? I could tell my silence was beginning to worry him.

But I trusted him, I don't know why but I really did. "Yes I will go with you, it sounds like a great idea."

Thanksgiving break came just in time. I was beginning to stress out over midterms. I took one last look around to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything. Alice had already left with Derek to go to his parents house. As I walked down to the lobby to meet Teddy, I started to get butterflies in my stomach...that's strange I thought.

"Here let me help you with those." he said as he took two bulging bags from my hands.
"Thanks my fingers were starting to slip."

"No problem, so are you looking forward to taking this long drive with me?"
"Yep, it should be interesting, and it will give us a chance to get to know each other better."
"Well good, I am glad we both agree."

After hours of driving we had finally made it to Los Angeles.
"So you want me to drop you off at your house?"

"Sure, but where are you going to stay?"
"I was planning on checking into a hotel, I don't have many options."
Then I turned to him with a big smile and said "You can stay at my house and have Thanksgiving!"

"That sounds really nice, but I don't want to impose."
"Don't worry about it, I would love for you to meet my family and friends and besides you should not be alone on Thanksgiving!"

"Okay, if you say so." "Well I do so it looks like you're coming."
"All right I'll stay, but you have to accompany me to my audition."
"It's a deal" I said as we both shook on it.

Finally I finished chapter 5, Enjoy everyone! I hope you keep reading. Suggestions please??



We both walked up the steps to my front door. "Helloooo, is anyone home?" My voice echoed through the empty house. "I guess no one is here yet, I'll show you where you can stay." I walked up the stairs and Teddy followed close behind.

"Thanks so much for having me" he said as he reached out to give me a gentle hug. It felt awkward since i was beginning to develop strong feelings for him. Finally he broke the silence.
"Do you have anything to eat? I'm pretty hungry from the drive."

"Yeah let's got see what's in the kitchen, but i have to warn you, I'm not much of a cook."
Teddy gave me a somewhat worried look. "Hmmm maybe I could make us something then?"

"You can cook?" I asked, surprised. "not really but I make this shrimp with ranch and all of my friends back home go crazy for it." I looked at him with a raised eyebrow, I hope he knows what he's doing because the sound of shrimp and ranch was not very appetizing at that moment.

Me and Teddy sat down at the table eating his shrimp which was actually quite delicious. "So how...*BAM* Teddy was interrupted as the door flew open and my once quiet home was filled with talking and laughter.

"Oohh honey you're here!" my mom cried out as she threw her arms around me in a tight squeeze. I was soon bombarded with hugs and kisses from her, my dad, and my younger sister Allison. "Who is this fine looking young man?" I cannot believe my mom was already starting with her embarrassing remarks. Teddy got shy and I saw him blushing.

I giggled, "This fine young man is Teddy, Teddy Geiger. He is a friend from school." "It is very nice to meet all of you" he said recovering from the embarrassment. After my family had settled in we all sat down in my living room. "So tell us how you two met each other."
"We just had a class together and started talking everyday, there really isn't much to it."
"Well Teddy you are a very handsome young man" my mother said and then turned to me and said, loud enough for everyone to hear, "you should hold onto this one he seems like a keeper!" She had done it once again, but I suppose it is expected from parents to be embarrassing.

Even though she was right I never would have admitted at that point in time. I was really starting to fall for him. He was so sweet and always had the right words to say. Just watching him and the way he was so kind with my family made me like him even more. I was too afraid to let him know now, because I was scared of his reaction.

Laying in bed that night all I could think about was Teddy. So many thoughts were flying through my mind. I could only hope that he shared the same feelings as I did. The next morning was an early one to make it in time for the auditions. "Oh man, i am so nervous. Hopefully I will do okay."
"Don't worry about it I know you will do fine." i reassured him. When we arrived at the audition there must have been at least one hundred other guys already waiting. Teddy got a number and we both sat down to watch some of the auditions.

"Number 110, Teddy Geiger!" a voice shouted from a distance. "Well I guess that is me." He said with hesitation. "Break a leg!" When he got on stage his first task was to read some lines from the script. I was praying that he would get the part because i would feel bad if he didn't. His second task was to choose a song to play. I knew he could play many instruments, but I had never heard him sing before.

As he began to sing I could feel my heart begin to melt and my mind almost float away. He had the voice of an angel. "I want to tell you that I love you, that I'm always thinking of you...." He was looking directly at me with a serious intent in his eyes I'd never seen. Then it hit me, this song is for me! When he was finished he came and sat next to me and whispered softly in my ear, "I love you Natalie." As tears began to well up in my eyes I managed to let out, "I love you too Teddy."
