Algebra Three. English. Drama. Home Ec. Cheerleading practice. That was my day. Everyday for the next month.

Luckily, tonight there was football game, which meant I didn't have to put in two extra hours of strenuous practice. I could just relax and cheer, and hope that when I got home my Dad was passed out on the bathroom floor.

"Hey! Hey, Lion fans! Stand up and clap your hands! Yell go big gold!" I cheered along with Tay and the rest of my squad as Teddy and Chris walked in front of the stands with Sadie watching his every move.

The buzzer sounded, signaling half time and of course Sadie ran right over to Teddy and pushed him.

Tay and I sat down with her parents, who were conveniently placed in the second row, right behind Teddy, Chris, and the scene Sadie was now causing as the band began to march across the field.

"What the hell, Sadie?" Teddy asked as he looked at her like she was insane.

She pushed him again, harder this time, knocking him right into Chris. I heard Taylor let out a snorting chuckle as she took a sip of her Mom's hot chocolate.

Sadie yells, "I saw that look you gave her!"

"What?" Teddy looked at Chris from the corner of his eye. "I honestly don't know what or who you're talking about."

"I see it everyday, Ted." She rolled her eyes as she pushed him lightly one more time and walked off to join her best friend, Julia by the fence.

Teddy turned around to look at us. "Do you get that? Sometimes I don't understand what her problem is." He let out a huge sigh as he and Chris got up to walk around.

Tay and I climbed out of her parents' navy blue van. Every weekend, I would spend the night over at her house to get away from my Dad. Tay didn't know how much our weekends helped me. Especially since my Dad is off on the weekends and all he does is drink since Mom died and he blames himself since he was the one driving.

Tay was also rather busy during the week with piano, guitar, and voice lessons after cheer practice. Sometimes, I would wish that I was her sister so that I could have a Mom like hers. My Mom was just like hers - until she died. Now, Helen was all I had. Her house was my safety net.

We dropped our stuff in her neatly organized room and plugged our cell phones into our chargers as we began to change into our pajamas. Just as I was about to flop my tired body onto her bed, my phone began to ring.

"Hello?" I asked tiredly, only to be greeted by no one.

"Hello?" I repeated before hanging up and tossing my phone to the floor.

"Who was it?" Taylor asked me curiously and I shrugged.

I yawned as I began to answer her. "I don't know, but I'm going to bed. Nite."

"Good night," Tay said gladly as she flipped out the light before jumping onto the bed beside me.

"I hate polynomials," I mumbled to myself as Jerkface turned around to face me.

"I agree." He whispered to me as he handed me a worksheet that the teacher had just handed out.

I looked up at him, more confused than ever. I gave him a small, but nervous smile as he smiled back before turning around to talk to Chris.

"So what was with Crazy Lady Friday night?" Chris laughed.

Teddy laughed with him. "I have no idea. She thinks that I check out every girl that walks by. She's always starting stuff with other girls like that. That's what the fight was about the other morning. She started something with Heather Sinclair!" Teddy laughed. "I mean come on! Heather is the captain of the cheerleading team.. thingie."

"Squad," I butted in and they both turned around to look at me. "It's called a cheerleading squad."

Mrs. Jeffers, a secretary in the main office came on the intercom. "Sorry teachers, for the interuption. We're going to announce the class representatives and nominees for Homecoming Queen."

I immediately became alert and interested as she continued. "For the freshmen, Maria Chandler. Sophomores will be Isabelle Sanchez, and the Juniors will be Nicole Parker. The nominees for Homecoming queen are: Heather Sinclair, Sadie Mitchell, Taylor Cohen, Jamie Hanson, and Addalyn Lewis. Congratulations, ladies."

Teddy turned around and looked at me. "Congratulations and good luck. Tell Taylor I said good luck too."

"Tell her she's got my vote," Chris laughed and I rolled my eyes.

"I'm sure she'll be glad to hear that," I mumbled as Teddy looked back to me and laughed.

"See you in English," Teddy said to me as the bell rang and we headed our seperate ways, but only for a few minutes.
