"So I thought about going bowling, but that's really not as much fun with just two people as it is with a group. Then I thought about a movie, but then I thought there wouldn't be any time to just talk." Teddy was rambling to me in the car. He was so cute when he rambled. "So I though I would ask you what you would like to do?"

"Well, I'm in the mood for a milkshake," I suggested. "We could get milkshakes and then go sit in that park. You know, the one we went to a few months ago?"

He smiled and agreed, just as we passed a Baskin Robbins.

I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of myself lying in the position I was currently in. I tripped over a rock, causing myself to trip and fall onto the ground and get covered in wood chips in the process.

Teddy held out his hand to help me up and smiled. "Good thing I was carrying your shake."

I continued to giggle at myself and nodded as we walked to the swing set and took a seat.

"So I pretty much brought you here because I wanted to talk to you." He said after taking a long, nervous breath.

"Ok," I giggled.

"I... have these feelings for you."

I gave him an odd look. "I have feelings for you... too."

"No, I mean, like, you mean a lot to me."

I nodded. "Right, you mean a lot to me too. It's basically like you saved me from dying. You are the first guy I've ever not been a hundred percent shy around and the first person I told the truth about my Dad, because I trust you... A lot."

"I guess, what I'm trying to say is that I want you to be my girlfriend." He looked back at me like a little kid that wasn't sure of what he'd just done.

"Well what I'm saying is that i would like for you to be my boyfriend."

"Really?" He let out a breath, like a million bricks had just been lifted off him.

I nodded. "Really."

He smiled as he leaned in to give me a quick kiss on the lips. It was small, but perfect.

"What do you say we head back and surprise everyone with our bravery and new relationship?" He asked and I giggled.

"Bravery?"

"You have no idea," he laughed. "I was nervous, man."

I giggled as he stood up and held out his hand.

"Ok, Teddy. Let's go."

I gave him a big smile as I took his hand and returned to the car.

My life took a bunch of turns that year, but when it finally got better - and I thought it couldn't get any better - it did...
