"Hey June." Ella Barnes said to me as she approached me at my locker one afternoon. She never talked to me. Ever. "So rumor has it that you and Teddy.. are together."

I raised my eyebrows. "Who told you that?"

"So it's true?"

I shook my head. "I'm not with anyone. Just because I sing a song on a stage with a guy doesn't mean anything except that I'm singing a song with a guy on a stage."

"Oh. I knew I was right. You could never get a boyfriend like him." She smirked and walked off. She had never liked me since fifth grade when I got the last spot in the talent show, which she really wanted for some kind of hip hop dance routine thingie.

Teddy walked up to me a few minutes later. "Hey June.." His voice was somewhat quiet.

"Hi."

He sighed as he leaned against the wall beside my locker.

"What's wrong?" I smirked.

"I have to go on the road again soon." He told me.

"And?"

"Tons of school work to do.. no one my age on the tour.. " He trailed off as we both started walking to our class.

"I do have a phone. You could always call and talk to me if you needed."

"I know that, June. It's just.. I don't know." He laid his head down on the table and looked up at me where I was flipping through my spiral notebook to a blank page.

Teddy sat with his head on the table looking at June. 'She's so beautiful..' he thought to himself. He couldn't keep his eyes off of her. Everything she did, even if it was just flipping through a notebook, was so graceful to him.

"Ted?" I asked him as he just stared at me.

"Huh? Sorry.. I swear I just fell asleep with my eyes open," He tried to cover.

He sat up and turned in his chair to face her. "June, I really need to talk to you. I mean, I'm not going to be in town for months.. I.. I need to know.."

"Mr. Geiger, are you done talking now, or would you like to me wait?" The teacher asked.

"Sorry."

I sat on my bed, finishing up the last bit of algebra homework when Teddy burst through my bedroom door and sat on the other end of my bed.

He sat there in silence for what seemed like hours until he finally spoke.

"So I'll see you when I get back?"

"When are you leaving?" I asked curiously as I began shutting all my books and placed them in a neat stack.

"Four a.m."

"So what about Saturday?" I asked curiously.

He shrugged like it never mattered that much to him in the first place. "Guess it'll just have to wait. My last show of the tour is at The Basement. Limited seating."

I nodded. "Sounds like fun."

"Yeah." He nodded quietly. "So I'll see you in a few months." He said as he walked out of my room abruptly.

What was that about? "Rejection." I muttered to myself as I sat back against the headboard.

A month later, I walked the hallway of my school in my most comfortable pair of jeans and a blue hoodie that said 'Valley Central Lions'. There was a pep rally today and I felt the need to be at least somewhat school spirited.

I was singing the national anthem, unfortunately. I hated having to sing in front of tons of my peers. I felt like everytime you even walked across the gym in front of them, they were criticizing your every move.

I sang and it was over before I know it, with every one cheering at the end and screaming like wild banshees, like always.

I took my seat betside Jase as we watched the football players and cheerleaders carry on like it was a sacred ritual. But mostly we just watched Ashlyn.

"So have you talked to Teddy lately?" Jase asked me curiously. He never showed any bit of anger or hatred towards me. He always acted like it was all ok, just like he said it was.

I shook my head sadly. "He doesn't care about me."

"Shut up, June." He said to me. "Ever since he left, you've hardly talked to anyone unless they talk to you first."

I shrugged. I didn't know why all of a sudden I was a recluse.

Ashlyn looked up at us and we shot each other cheesy cheerleader smiles as she jumped up in the air and spirited with the rest of her squad.

Two months later, I sat with my friends at The Basement. Ashlyn was determined to drag us all there to watch Teddy's last performance.

I hugged myself tighter in yet another one of my school hoodies that was orange and said 'Central Valley' across the front.

Teddy walked across the stage as the whole population of teenage girls in our town started screaming.

"Hey.." He laughed as he looked out at the crowd. "Shhh.. there's a sound ordinance.. " he laughed. "We'll get kicked out. Haha."

I rolled my eyes and smiled to myself as he began playing 'Hallelujah'. I sang quietly to myself as he sang out in his much more powerful voice.

He kept singing until, an hour later, he was at his last song. "So this is just a cover." He told us all. "But it means a lot to me. And it's for a special girl." He said, followed by a chorus of 'Awww's.

He began playing his very popular cover of The Postal Service's song.

I smiled to myself, hoping it was about me, until I saw a skinny girl with bleach blonde hair sitting in the shadows of the stage.

He looked over to her and she blew him a kiss and he turned to look out to the audience, and I was almost positive he saw me. He sort of paused a little and didn't know how to react. He finally saved his performance as he said goodnight to everyone and exited the stage, where blondie greeted him with a rather large hug.

I rolled my eyes as I stood to leave, but Ashlyn stopped me. "Oh look there's Jerome!" She waved our korean friend over.

"Hey chipmunk." I laughed as he enveloped me in huge hug that I wasn't expecting.

"June?" Teddy asked as he walked over to us and Jerome left his arm around me.

I smiled at him as blondie walked up behind him and wrapped her arm around his waist.

"This is Julianne." He introduced her. I nodded. "Julianne, this is June."

She eyed me like I was a skank who shouldn't have even been in the same room as her.

"Teddy do you remember Jerome?" I asked him curiously and he nodded. They nodded in that manly fashion that all guys greet each other. "So we're just about to go." I told him and he nodded.

"Well, Jules and I were going to go get a milkshake or something.. Do you guys want to go?" He invited us.

I looked at Jerome to extend the invitation to him as well and he agreed.

Julianne? Jules? What's up with that?
