I've got a majority of the next chapter written. I'm trying to finish it up now.

Chapter 4:
Ever since my dismissal from camp I’d been stuck at home, babysitting. I hadn’t spoken to Teddy since I had left camp over a week ago. I sent him a message on MySpace, letting him know I made it to my parents’ house okay, but I had yet to get a response. Little did Teddy and my parents know, but I was going to be making a surprise appearance at the little dance tonight. I’d spoken with Mr. Lowery, who had apologized for kicking me out, and he’d pretty much invited me back for the dance. I agreed but told him not to say anything to Teddy. I actually told him I wanted to sing at the dance, since that’s what a lot of the other campers were going to do. He said that was fine with him, and I couldn’t have been more excited.
For days I searched for the perfect song to sing. I want to sing a slower song, one that meant a lot to me, and hopefully would hint to Teddy that I’ve missed him like crazy...and possibly one that showed off my vocals, just so Teddy could see how hard I’d been working on this song since I’d been at home. I ended up choosing the song “Two Worlds Collide” by Demi Lovato...even though it wasn’t the song I was looking for, I knew Teddy would be impressed when he heard me singing it.
“This is as good as it’s going to get,” I sighed as I stood in front of my mirror and admired my dress.
It was a simple green, shiny and satin, Jessica McClintock dress. It was a spaghetti-strap, squareneck dress with a puffy bow, empire waist, and a short bubble skirt. It was my absolute favorite dress...and I’d worn a LOT of dresses.
“Let’s get this show on the road,” I said as I grabbed my purse, keys, and music before heading out of my bedroom, only to have my mom catch me before going down the stairs.
“Where are you going missy?” she asked me.
“Mr. Lowery invited me to the dance. I’m going to perform and maybe see Teddy...if he’s even there,” I smiled as I started down the stairs before my mom could say anything more.
-----------------------
When I got to the camp, I snuck in the back door of the building the dance was in...just like Mr. Lowery told me to do. He met me backstage and just as I was about to go on, I could hear Teddy playing on the stage. Sounded to me like a new song.
“Words won’t fix this now, but I’ll make it up to you another way. I’m sorry. I want you to know I won’t let go. If the world turns I know we’ll find a way. I’ve let you down. Words won’t fix this now, but I’ll make it up to you another way. I’m sorry. I want you to know I won’t let go. If the world turns I know we’ll find a way,” Teddy finished up as he stood up and walked off the other side of the stage, everyone on the dance floor applauding his performance.
Mr. Lowery looked back at me, asked if I was ready, and when I nodded my head ‘yes’, he grabbed another microphone and made his way onto the stage. He gave me a nice introduction and came off the stage and hit the lights. It was scary walking up on the stage with no lights whatsoever. But before I knew it the lights and spotlights were cut on and the music was playing. My back was to the crowd as I began singing all while listening to the crowd’s reaction.
She was given the world So much that she couldn’t see And she needed someone To show her who she could be And she tried to survive Wearing her heart on her sleeve But I needed you to believe
You had your dreams I had mine You had your fears I was fine Showed me what I couldn’t find When two different worlds collide
After the first verse and chorus I turned around to look out into the audience.
She was scared of it all Watching from far away And she was given a role Never knew just when to play And she tried to survive Living a life on her own Always afraid of the throne But you’ve given me strength To find home
You had your dreams I had mine You had your fears I was fine Showed me what I couldn’t find When two different worlds collide
She was scared, unprepared Lost in the dark, falling apart I can survive with you by my side We’re gonna be alright (We’re gonna be alright) This is what happens when two worlds collide
You had your dreams I had mine You had your fears I was fine Showed me what I couldn’t find When two different worlds collide
You had your dreams I had mine You had your fears I was fine Showed me what I couldn’t find When two different worlds collide
When two different worlds collide.
To my surprise everyone began cheering as the song came to an end. Even more surprising than the crowd’s applause was the fact that Teddy had run back onto the stage.
We were now holding hands, in the middle of the stage, spotlight directly on us. He whispered something to me, but I couldn’t hear it because of all the noise coming from the crowd. When I told Teddy I couldn’t hear him he laughed and leaned in, kissing me right on the lips. Who would’ve thought my first kiss would be in front of hundreds of people? Better yet, who would’ve thought my first kiss would be with someone famous?
“You look amazing,” he told me as we walked off the stage holding one another’s hands.
“What about you? You’re wearing a suit. I like this look best,” I smiled at him as we stood waiting for Mr. Lowery to go back on the stage to conclude the evening of performances.
“I...I’m glad you’re here.”
“Did you not get my message?”
“Oh, I got it, but I was scared to respond. I didn’t know what to say. I was still feeling bad about practically getting you kicked out of camp. Even though it’s only been almost a week since you’ve left, I’ve been miserable...ask any of the campers. I haven’t been the same since you left.”
“Trust me, I’ve been miserable too. Being at home and babysitting gets old...it’s the same with MySpace.”
“How’d you get here?”
“Mr. Lowery got me a limo.”
“So, you’re going back tonight?”
“Yeah,” I nodded as I watched Teddy’s face turn from excitement to disappointment. “Why do you look so sad?”
“I was hoping you’d stay tonight, just so I’d have a little more time to spend with you before I go back to New York.”
“Why don’t you skip New York and come back to my parents’ house with me? My parents’ are off for a week, celebrating their anniversary.”
“Don’t you think you should ask your parents first?”
“Come on. I’m trying to be the little rebel I know I’m not. Can’t you help me out and just go along with me?”
“As long as I won’t get hurt or killed, then okay.”
“I’ve told you my parents will be out of town, and my older brother is off at college, practicing football. There won’t be anyone but me and my dogs, and I doubt any of us would harm you.”
“You have dogs?”
“Yeah, is there a problem with that?”
“Not...not really.”
“Good. I didn’t think so,” I smiled as Mr. Lowery walked off stage to greet us. “Thank you so much for letting me come back and do this. This has been the best night of my life,” I said as I gave Mr. Lowery a hug.
“You should really thank Teddy. From the moment you left the boy did nothing but beg for me to let you come back. After almost a week of begging I finally decided to let you come back, but it was kept a secret to Teddy,” Mr. Lowery informed me.
“I think he already knows I’m thankful for his begging,” I chuckled as I walked back over to Teddy, who wrapped his arm around my waist.
“Teddy, thanks again for doing this for me and the campers. It meant a lot for us to have someone like you here, helping out the campers. We hope you’ll come back next year if you aren’t too busy,” Mr. Lowery said, turning his attention to Teddy.
“I’d love to come back...but only if Kourtni comes back too,” Teddy smiled as he and Mr. Lowery shook hands.
“We’d love to have both of you back. And Kourtni, you did amazing up there tonight. The crowd loved you.”
“Thanks...I’d been practicing and practicing ever since I left,” I told him.
“I’ll leave you two alone. I hope you two have an amazing rest of the year. Good luck in everything that you do.”
“Thanks,” Teddy and I said in unison as Mr. Lowery walked back on the stage where some other counselors and campers had gathered.
“Mr. Geiger, you need to get back to your cabin and back your bags because you’re headed to the boondocks. Our limo leaves in five minutes,” I informed Teddy.
“Five minutes? You can’t be serious. I won’t have time to pack,” Teddy whined.
“I guess you’ll just have to stuff what you can into bags and carry the rest by hand,” I said as I took off my heels.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m racing you back to the cabin! Loser has to go skinny dipping in the pool at my parents’ house,” I giggled as I ran out of the lodge and started running to Teddy’s cabin.
-----------------------
Of course I beat Teddy to the cabin. What Teddy didn’t know was that no one was going skinny dipping when we got to my parents’ house. I just wanted to give him a scare.
“So...this is my parents’ house,” I told Teddy as the limo pulled into the driveway after what was the longest limo ride, ever.
“Man, your place is nice,” he said as the driver stopped the car, got out, and came to open our door. “Thanks,” Teddy said with a smile.
“I have a confession.”
“Alright, I’m listening.”
“No one is going skinny dipping. That was just a trick.”
“Something told me no one was going skinny dipping,” Teddy laughed as we grabbed our bags and started towards the front door.
“However, I think I should get some kind of prize for winning the race.”
“How about a full body massage?”
“I like the sound of that,” I giggled as I bit my lip and ran for the front door, stopping long enough to pick up our hidden key.
