Chapter 5:
“And I will prove my love until you’re sure that I’m “the one”.” - Gary Allan’s “The One”.
*Two Weeks Later*
It had been two weeks since Teddy had proposed to me. Since the day after he proposed, I’d been busy making early wedding plans. I was busy looking at Teddy’s schedule, trying to pick out a date. Then I was busy telling all of my friends and family. And then I had to make a list of who I wanted to be my bridesmaids. Eventually I narrowed the list down and had four girls on the list.
“Hey Kourt,” my uncle said as he walked in the kitchen. “How’s the wedding planning going?”
“It’s difficult when he isn’t here,” I shrugged.
“I’m sure it is. When is he coming back into town?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Let me know if you need anything,” my uncle said as he grabbed a bottle of water out of the refrigerator before exiting the kitchen.
Now I knew what it was like to be in a relationship with someone famous, especially when you were trying to plan a wedding. I was starting to feel what Teddy probably felt when we first got together, when I was still in the business.
Rather than sulk around and act like I was extremely bothered, I sucked it all up and decided to go talk to my uncle’s wife, Kim. There were a few things I needed to talk to her about…all of them concerning the wedding.
“Hey Aunt Kim,” I said as I walked into my baby cousin’s nursery where my Aunt Kim was getting my cousin, Huck, dressed.
“Oh, hey Kourtni,” she said with a smile as she lifted Huck out of his crib.
“Hey…I came to talk to you about some wedding related topics.”
“Go ahead…shoot. I’m listening,” she said with a smile.
“Well, first, I was going to ask if you wanted to be my maid of honor. I feel that I’m closest to you. Not only that, but you and Uncle Brad have done so much for me.”
“Aw, Kourtni, you really want me to be your maid of honor? Don’t you have a friend that you’d like to be your maid of honor instead?”
“I don’t have many friends Aunt Kim. Besides, Jamie is going to be second in line. I’ve already talked about this with her, and we both agreed your more than deserving of the maid of honor position.”
“Aw, sweetie, I’d be honored to serve as your maid of honor. Now, what else is on your mind? You can tell me anything.”
“I was wondering if you had plans today.”
“Nope, I don’t have any plans except for sitting around and playing with Huck. Are you wanting to do something?”
“I was wanting to go look at a wedding dress.”
“Oh, I would LOVE to go dress shopping with you! We will pick out the most gorgeous dress for you, and you don’t worry about the price tag. Your uncle and I will take care of that.”
“Thanks Aunt Kim,” I said as I hugged my aunt. “Oh, I’m pretty sure we’ll want little Huck here to be our ring bearer.”
“We can make it happen,” my aunt said with a smile.
“Thanks again,” I smiled.
-Mine All Mine-
There were many bridal shops to visit in Nashville, and I was looking forward to going to all of them. I had told my Aunt Kim that we would definitely visit them all unless I found the perfect dress at one of the first stores. I wanted to visit them all, but then again it would be really cool if I found my perfect dress instantly. I had a picture of the dress in my mind, but I wasn’t sure if I would find it today.
“Here is our first stop,” Aunt Kim said as she pulled into a parking spot.
“Welcome to Jan’s Bridal Shop. My name is Jan, and I’m the owner. How can I help you?” a woman, in her forties, asked as me and my aunt walked in the store.
“My niece here just got engaged about two weeks ago, and she’s getting an early start on dress shopping. We’re just going to browse your shop to see if there’s anything she likes,” Aunt Kim said with a smile.
“What size are you?” Jan asked me.
“Um…like a five? I think,” I shrugged.
“Right this way,” she said as I followed her to a rack of dresses in my size. “Is there any specific style of dress you’re looking at?”
“I want a princess gown. I want it to have a long train and to be poofy. And I’d like it if it had parts of the dress bunched up together.”
“Kind of like this,” Jan said as she pulled a dress of the rack.
My mouth dropped. From looking at it in the plastic dress cover, I could tell how gorgeous the dress was. This was pretty close to my perfect dress. If it was indeed my perfect dress, then my search wouldn’t have taken as long as I thought.
“Go try it on Kourt!” my aunt said excitedly as Jan hung the dress up on a hook inside one of the dressing rooms.
It took my forever to get the thing on, and there was no way I was zipping it up by myself. Rather than walking out and showing Aunt Kim the dress already, I called Jan into the dressing room so she could help me finish zipping up the dress.
“So…who’s the lucky guy?” she asked.
“His name is Teddy,” I said as a smile crossed my face. Just thinking about Teddy got me smiling.
“I know several guys named Teddy. What’s his last name? I want to see if I know him.”
“Geiger.”
“Oh, my daughter is obsessed with him. Wait until I tell her I met his future wife. She’s going to be so jealous,” Jan said with a laugh. “What’s it like dating someone famous?”
“It’s kind of difficult at times, actually. But then there are awesome perks like getting to go to industry parties and stuff like that.”
“You are such a lucky girl.”
“Yes I am.”
“All done. I’ll go out first and then you can come out and show your aunt the dress,” Jan said as she exited my dressing room.
I walked out of the dressing room seconds later and saw my Aunt Kim’s mouth hit the floor. I had yet to see myself in the mirror, so I didn’t know how I looked, but I could tell by my aunt’s face that it was either stunning or horrible.
“Kourtni, you look stunning. I know this is the first dress you’ve tried on, but I think this is the one. This dress looks amazing on you,” Aunt Kim said as I took a step up on a platform so I could stand in front of the triple mirror.
“Oh my gosh,” I said as I ran my hands down the side of the dress. “This is such a beautiful dress. I agree Aunt Kim. This is the dress. This is the one. How much is it?”
“Let’s see,” Jan said as she looked at the price tag. “This dress is one thousand, three hundred and fifty-two dollars.”
My mouth hit the floor.
“We’ll take it,” Aunt Kim said. “Kourt, Teddy is going to fall to the ground when he sees you in this dress on your wedding day.”
“I don’t want him to fall to the ground. That wouldn’t make for a fun honeymoon,” I said as everyone in the room laughed.
“Jan, thank you so much for your help,” Aunt Kim said as she handed Jan her credit card.
“No problem. It was my pleasure. If you need anything else, let me know!” Jan said with a smile on her face.
“We may come back and look at bridesmaids dresses once I get all of my bridesmaids in town,” I said, smiling back at Jan.
“We will be looking for you!”
“Bye Jan,” Aunt Kim and I said in unison as we exited the bridal shop.
“I’m so lucky to have found a dress this soon. I’ve never been this lucky…except for when I met Teddy. That day changed my life,” I sighed as I hung my dress up in Aunt Kim’s Tahoe.

I don't know. This board has been dead lately.
I'm thinking about possibly posting it on my ff message board. I'm not sure though.
I guess I'll update when I can. I would say tomorrow, but I don't know how that'll work since I've already said I'll update my five other stories. Okay...maybe it isn't exactly five, but it's pretty darn close.

I'm still going to post it here, but I'm going to post it somewhere else too. Because for me, as a writer, I'm used to having anywhere from five to six people comment my stories and here not everyone is active so it's just two, maybe three people if I'm lucky. I'm just doing it to see what other people think of it. I just want to know as many opinions as I possibly can.
