Chapter 3
We hadn’t been in Rochester for two hours and Teddy was home ahead of schedule. Thankfully I had talked to Teddy and we’d worked out our differences, and he was somewhat happy that Michelle and I had come to visit him.
We were now getting ready to eat dinner, spaghetti to be exact…yum.
“What are you wearing to dinner?” I asked as I stood in the room Michelle was staying in.
“I’m not wearing anything to dinner since we’re eating here. Were you planning on changing or something?” Michelle asked.
“Yeah, I was going to wear something. But if you aren’t going to wear anything then I’m not going to wear anything special. I’d look like an idiot if I walked down there dressed up or whatever. I think I’m just going to wear a t-shirt and some shorts.”
“That’s what I was planning on wearing, since I’m going to bed in a few hours anyway.”
“I hope to go to bed in a few hours, but since Teddy and I are sharing a room there’s no telling when I’ll get to sleep…especially if he stays up and plays his guitar all night. Hopefully if he plays his guitar he’ll go down to his studio or something.”
“If it’s going to keep you from sleeping I’m sure he’ll go down to his studio to play. He doesn’t seem like the type who would just annoy you by continuing to play his guitar while you were trying to go to sleep.”
“Yeah, hopefully he won’t annoy me with that…even though him playing the guitar doesn’t annoy me, especially if he’s singing and playing at the same time.”
“I think you like this guy.”
“What? No, I don’t like him. He’s just a friend and I’m excited to see him for the first time in years. I may end up liking him, but right now I don’t like him like you’re thinking I do.”
“Hm…we’ll just have to see about that,” Michelle said with a laugh as she walked past me and left the room.
Was she right? Was I already falling for Teddy? It couldn’t be true. I had only been around him for like two hours. I couldn’t be liking him already or could I?
“Boo!” Teddy said as he snuck up behind me and poked me in my sides. “Are you coming down to eat supper? Mom sent me up here to see what was taking you and Michelle so long, but I passed Michelle coming up here.”
“You scaring me like that was not nice. For all you know you could have given me a freaking heart attack,” I said as I turned around and shot a semi-mean look at Teddy.
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I was just kidding,” I said with a smile as I walked past Teddy and headed down the stairs, towards the kitchen.
-Can’t Live it Down-
Supper had ended. Teddy had asked Michelle and I if we wanted to stay in the living room and watch a movie on the big screen with him. Michelle had said no because she was sleepy, and rightfully so. That girl had been up for like the past two days STRAIGHT…maybe gotten like a total of ten hours of sleep?
“So…what movie are we going to watch?” I asked as I sat on the couch in my big hooded Auburn sweatshirt.
“I don’t know. I was hoping you would have brought a movie with you that you wanted to watch,” Teddy said as he sat on the other end of the couch.
“You act like I have cooties or something,” I said with a laugh as I scooted just a tad closer to Teddy so that the situation would be a little less awkward.
“I just didn’t think you would want me sitting like right next to you, but I guess I was wrong.”
“No, I wouldn’t have gotten mad or anything. And about the movie situation, I brought one of my most FAVORITE movies ever.”
“Is it a chick flick?”
“Yup, it is!”
“What movie is it? I don’t know if I’ll be able to sit through it.”
“Oh…you’ll make it through this one. I will make sure of it,” I said with a laugh as I got up off of the couch and ran towards the stairs. “I’ll be back in a jiffy,” I said as I ran up the stairs to Teddy’s room where my bags were.
-Can’t Live it Down-
After a ten minute discussion, I had finally talked Teddy into watching ‘The Notebook’ with me. We were a little while into the movie and we were coming to one of my favorite parts. I couldn’t help but quote the movie.
“What happens if a car comes?” I said quoting Allie Hamilton, who was played by Rachel McAdams. “We die,” I said quoting Noah Calhoun, who was played by Ryan Gosling.
“You must know like every single word in this movie,” Teddy said as he looked at me.
“Not every word…this is just one of my favorite scenes in the movie,” I said with a smile.
“You said that about the other scene you quoted when they were on the ferris wheel.”
“I have a few favorite scenes, okay? Geez…”
“I’m sorry if I said that in an angry voice. I didn’t really mean for it to come out like it did,” Teddy said.
“Alright…I guess I forgive you.”
-Can’t Live it Down-
The movie had ended, and I couldn’t have been happier to see the ending of a movie. I was extremely tired and ready to go to bed, but I had forgotten that I had to work the whole sleeping situation out with Teddy once we got up to his room.
“So…I’m going to sleep on the floor tonight,” Teddy said as he went over to his closet and grabbed some extra blankets and pillows from the top of his closet.
“No, you’re not,” I said.
“Where in the heck am I sleeping then?”
“You’re going to sleep in your bed.”
“But if I sleep in my bed then where are you going to sleep?”
“In your bed.”
“We can’t sleep in the same bed. That’d be weird.”
“Fine then, I’ll sleep on the floor,” I said as I snatched the blankets and pillows out of Teddy’s hand.
“No…you’re not sleeping on the floor,” Teddy said as he snatched the blankets and pillows out of my hands.
“Then where am I sleeping?” I screamed.
“WE’RE SLEEPING IN MY BED!” Teddy yelled.
“FINE!” I yelled as I turned around and ran and jumped on Teddy’s bed. “I have this side,” I said as I pulled the covers back and got situated under the covers.
“That’s my side.”
“Sorry…it’s mine for now,” I said with an evil smile.
“Alright, I guess I’ll let you sleep there for tonight. But you better bet that you won’t be sleeping there tomorrow night. Tomorrow night I’ll get my side of the bed. Is that a fair deal?”
“Hm…I guess we can call it a fair deal.”
“Good,” Teddy said with a laugh. “But I don’t mind for right now. I’m going down to the studio to record or at least try and record something.”
“Alright…well, I guess I’ll see you in the morning,” I said with a smile as I watched Teddy walk out of his room.
