Can’t Live it Down Teddy Geiger Fan Fic
Chapter 1
May 23rd, 2007…summer was FINALLY here. I was so excited about it being summer yet today was a bit of a depressing day for me. You see three years ago today I made one big decision that I regret now. I was asked out by a really great guy and I said no. Turns out that guy is now a big and famous rock star. You may know him. His name is Teddy Geiger.
Teddy and I had lived in the same small Alabama town for a few years. We’d been friends, but never anything more, until that one day he asked me out and I was stupid and said no. To this day I never knew exactly why I told him no. Maybe because I was younger and stupid?
I hoped this summer was going to change all of that. Teddy was off in Toronto filming a movie, according to his official website. My mom had arranged for me to go to New York, where Teddy and his family currently lived, and stay at his house until he got back from Toronto…then I was going to surprise him once he got back. I was nervous yet excited all at the same time. I didn’t know what to do with myself. Thankfully my best friend Michelle was coming along with me.
“So…picture it. It’s a few weeks from now and we’re hanging out in Rochester. It’s around six in the evening and Teddy’s mom is just getting back from the airport after picking Teddy up from the same airport where his flight landed minutes before. Teddy walks into the living room, sees you…what do you say?” Michelle asked as we sat in her bedroom, while she packed her suitcase.
“Long time no see or maybe hi? I don’t know!” I said. “It’s been three years since I’ve seen him. For me it’s going to feel like I’m meeting him for the first time all over again.”
“Hm…I vote hi, then long time no see.”
“Gee, thanks…you’re a lot of help,” I laughed as Michelle stuffed some more clothes into her suitcase. “Good grief, I think you’ve packed enough. Your suitcase is about to overflow.”
“Hey…don’t say anything about my suitcase when you haven’t even started packing yours missy. There’s no telling how many suitcases you’ll have to take. We all know it’ll be more than one.”
“I know. I should’ve kept my mouth shut. I’m probably going to pack my whole closet if my mom will let me.”
“Do you think you’ll go out with Teddy while we are staying in Rochester?”
“Define go out, please.”
“Like go out to dinner…or a movie?”
“I doubt it, but who knows? I can’t tell the future.”
“Would you LIKE to go out with Teddy while we’re in Rochester?”
“I’ll let you know the answer to that once I see Teddy, in Rochester.”
“Don’t forget,” Michelle said with a laugh.
“Oh, don’t worry. I’m SURE I won’t forget. If I want to go on a date with him, I’m sure I’ll let you know. You would be the first and only person I told because I sure wouldn’t tell Teddy I wanted to go on a date with him.”
“Aw, I’d tell him if I were you. Either I’d tell him or I’d ask him myself. I wouldn’t wait on him.”
“You have a point. Hm, I’ll think about it if the time ever comes,” I said with a laugh as I looked down at my cell phone. “Oh, well, I’ve got to get home. I still have to pack my suitcase. I keep forgetting that we leave tomorrow morning at seven…AH!”
“I know! It’s getting late and we BOTH need our sleep. I have a feeling you’ll be up all night packing since you’ve failed to start that a day or so ago.”
“I have a feeling that you my dear are right.”
“Of course I’m right. Aren’t I always right?”
“Eh, most of the time,” I said with a laugh as I got off of Michelle’s bed and headed towards her bedroom door. “Good night my distant sister. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow morning my love,” Michelle said with a laugh as I opened the door and walked out of her room.
Boy, tomorrow was going to be quite the exciting day.
-Can’t Live it Down- *Next Day…May 24th*
The day for mine and Michelle’s departure to Rochester had finally come. I was only a few days away from seeing the guy I had rejected three years earlier.
“You girls be good and mind Mrs. Geiger, got it?” my mom said as we stood in the airport, waiting to board our plane.
“Yes mother…we understand,” I said as my mom kissed my cheek. “I love you too mom.”
“You have your laptop so you can email me every day, right?” Michelle’s mom asked as she and Michelle hugged goodbye.
“Yes mom, I have it. I wouldn’t leave home without it,” Michelle replied.
“Flight 209 to Rochester, New York…you may now board your plane,” someone said over the intercom. Yep, that was us. We could now get on our plane to Rochester.
“Bye mom,” I said as I hugged my mom goodbye one final time.
“Bye sweetie,” my mom said as I picked up my carry-on bag and headed towards the point of entry for the plane.
“Bye mom…love you,” Michelle said as she hugged her mom.
“Love you too…bye, have fun!” Michelle’s mom said as she waved goodbye to us.
-Can’t Live it Down- *Hours Later…Rochester, New York*
“And this is or humble abode,” Teddy’s mom said as she opened the front door to their beautiful house. “We hope you girls will enjoy your time here in Rochester.”
“Thanks Ms. Geiger,” I said with a smile.
“Yes, thanks Ms. Geiger. I’m sure we will love our stay here in your home,” Michelle smiled.
“Now it’s time to show you girls your bedrooms for the trip. Follow me,” she said as she started up the stairs. “Just leave your things down stairs. You can bring them to your rooms later.”
Michelle and I dropped our things and followed Teddy’s mom up the stairs. At the top of the stairs there was a door on the left and another on the right. We had stopped in front of those doors.
“Kourtni…I hope you don’t mind sleeping in Ted’s room for a few days. We’re still in the process of fixing up the other guest bedroom,” Teddy’s mom said as she opened his bedroom door.
“Oh, no ma’am…I don’t mind, just as long as Teddy won’t mind,” I simply replied with a smile and shrug of my shoulders.
“He won’t mind nor will he know. Ted isn’t supposed to be in town for another week. He gets some time off starting next Friday, a week from tomorrow.”
“Okay…that’s good.”
“And here is your room Michelle,” she said as she opened the door to a guest bedroom.
“Thank you,” Michelle smiled.
“Since you two know where your rooms are, you can go on downstairs and get your things and bring them u-…” Teddy’s mom started but stopped when the front door slammed shut.
“MOM…whose bags are these?” Teddy yelled from the bottom of the stairs.
Oh no. Teddy was home early. I wasn’t prepared to see him today, not to mention I looked like crap.
“Uh oh…sounds like Ted is home early. Let me go downstairs and explain to him what’s going on. I’ll call you girls down in just a few,” his mom said as she hurried down the stairs before Teddy came up the stairs.

Chapter 2
We had just gotten shown our rooms for the upcoming weeks while staying at Teddy’s when suddenly Teddy came home early and un-announced. Michelle and I were upstairs in the room she was in trying our best to listen to what Teddy was saying to his mom.
A minute had gone by and we hadn’t heard any talking. All we heard was footsteps coming up the stairs. This COULDN’T be good. What was Teddy going to say when he saw me?
“Whose bags are these mom? Are we moving out and someone else is taking over MY room?” I heard Teddy yell. “And where are there bags outside of the guest room? Alright mom, talk. Who is in this house that I don’t know about? If you don’t tell me then I’m going to go in the guest room to see if anyone is here,” I heard Teddy say as I heard footsteps approaching the guest bedroom door.
“It’s a friend of yours, and she brought a friend of hers,” Teddy’s mom said.
“So it’s a girl? I don’t know many girls, at least ones that are my close friends.”
“Let’s say you haven’t seen this person in a while?”
“I still don’t know who you are talking about, so I’m going in,” Teddy said as I looked at the door knob and saw it turning.
Seconds later Teddy walked in the room. Rather than saying ‘hi’ or something like that, he stood there and stared at me and Michelle. I didn’t like the look he was giving me. It definitely wasn’t a good look.
“Um…hi?” I spoke up as I waved at Teddy.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you,” Teddy somewhat scoffed as I got up off of the bed and walked over to him.
“Long time no see,” I said as I extended my hand.
“Yeah, three years is a long time. It wouldn’t have been that long if it weren’t for you saying you didn’t want to go out with me.”
“Could you NOT bring that up? I wanted to come up here, hang out with you, and not fight about the whole thing three years ago. I should’ve known that you were going to bring the ordeal up.”
“Well, that’s only been bugging me for the last three years. I really liked you and thought you really liked me. OBVIOUSLY I was wrong. I should’ve never asked you out. I’m getting out of here,” Teddy said as he turned and left the room.
“Wait a minute…hold up Teddy,” I said as I chased after Teddy.
“I’m sorry,” Teddy’s mom said as I walked past her.
“It’s okay,” I said as I turned and looked back at her.
-Can’t Live It Down-
I walked into the living room and found Teddy sitting on the couch. I simply went and sat down next to him. I knew I was going to have to talk to Teddy about the whole saying no to him thing one day. It seemed like today was that day, unfortunately.
“I can’t believe my mom didn’t tell me that YOU were coming,” Teddy said.
“Look, if you want me to leave I can go back home. It shouldn’t be that much of a problem,” I said as I sat next to Teddy.
“No, I don’t want you to leave! I want you to stay so we can talk about the whole thing from three years ago.”
“Alright, then me and Michelle will stay.”
“Why did you say no to me? I really liked you. You were a great girl.”
“I was young and stupid. I didn’t know what I was doing Ted. And why did you say ‘were’ instead of ‘are’? I’m still the same girl you asked out three years ago. I haven’t changed a bit.”
“Well, I feel like I don’t know you anymore since it has been three years since I’ve seen you.”
“Look, ever since I told you no I’ve regretted it. I can’t live it down that I said no to you, especially to see how great of a guy you’ve become. You reached your dream of making a record, which is totally awesome. I wish I would’ve said yes and stayed in contact with you. You are an amazing guy and I regret that I told you no. I just hope you’ll forgive me for saying no and maybe give me another chance at being your friend.”
“Of course I’ll give you another chance to be my friend. And maybe one day I can give you another chance to be my girlfriend., if we still have a connection there.”
“Ted, the minute you walked into the guest bedroom I thought I was going to pass out. You look absolutely amazing. And you don’t KNOW how attracted I still am to you. I’ll always like you on that level, for as long as I live.”
Teddy just stared at me and smiled. Ah, I’d waited three long years to see that smile again. The three year wait was definitely worth it. His smile made me melt inside.
I didn’t say anything more to Teddy. I got up off of the couch and headed upstairs to talk to Michelle.
-Can’t Live It Down-
I walked back into the guest bedroom to find Michelle talking to Teddy’s mom.
“Did you talk to him?” Michelle asked as she looked over at me.
“I’m sorry he got so upset,” his mom said as she stood up and walked towards me.
“Don’t worry about anything. Everything is okay now. I talked to him about the whole ordeal from three years ago. We have put those issues behind us,” I said with a smile.
“That’s good to hear,” Teddy’s mom said with a smile.
“Oh crap, I forgot to tell him that I was going to be sleeping in his room. Let me run across the hall and tell him that,” I said as I turned and walked out of the bedroom.
-Can’t Live It Down-
I stood in the doorway of Teddy’s bedroom and watched as Teddy sat as his desk with his guitar in hand. He appeared to be writing a song or at least practicing a song he’d already written. I decided against bothering him and instead sat back and watched him sing and play his guitar.
You’re the girl in the back of the room, My wallflower that’s in bloom. You’re so oblivious to this. But I could fall into those eyes, Pretty circles that I try to escape into, yeah.
I say hallelujah when you look at me. Well hallelujah, you’re the halo over me. ‘Cause you’re all I need, yeah.
With you, every day is Saturday. With you, every word you say is like a song. With you, everything is obvious. Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
‘Cause I found you. I found you. I found you. Hallelujah.
Never thought I’d take that jump, A nervous laugh around someone. I’m sleeping in the palm of your hand. The way you whisper on the phone, I hear your voice when I’m alone. ‘Cause you always understand just who I am.
Well hallelujah, you’re love is free. Well hallelujah, you’re the halo over me. And you’re all that I need.
With you, every day is Saturday. With you, every word you say is like a song. With you, everything is obvious. Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
I found you. I found you. I found you. Hallelujah.
The best things are unexpected, Just like this. Like a billboard in the sky, You just can’t miss. And I’m never letting this one go.
With you, every day is Saturday. With you, the answers are obvious.
With you, every day is Saturday. With you, every word you say is like a song. With you, everything is obvious. Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
The best things are always unexpected, Hallelujah.
“Bravo…that was amazing,” I said clapping my hands as I walked on into Teddy’s bedroom.
“You were listening?” Teddy questioned. “I didn’t mean for you to listen. I’m sorry I disturbed you.”
“Oh no, you didn’t disturb me Teddy. I quite enjoyed that mini-performance. The song was amazing. Is it new?”
“No, it isn’t BRAND new. I was just going over it and changing some stuff. It’s an older song and yeah.”
“Oh, well, it was amazing. I loved it.”
“Cool. So, what brings you in here?”
“I just came to tell you that I forgot to mention I was staying in your room while Michelle and I were visiting. Don’t yell at me. Your mom is the one who gave me your room. I hope you don’t mind,” I said as I shrugged my shoulders.
“Doesn’t bother me…I’ll just sleep on the floor,” Teddy said with a laugh.
“Oh Teddy, you know I’d feel bad if you slept on the floor.”
“We’ll work something out,” Teddy said as he looked up at me and smiled.
