Chapter 7
As I rolled over to turn my alarm clock off, I accidentally kicked Teddy. My mind was totally blank, and I had forgotten my mom said he had better stay the night.
“Morning Mr. Geiger,” I said as I threw the covers off of me. “It’s time to get up…rise and shine!”
“Do I have to get up right now? I was planning on sleeping another good two hours,” Teddy said as he pulled the covers up over his head.
“Yes sir, you have to get up right now. This is what happens when you stay up until four in the morning! I told you that you should’ve gone to sleep at two. How come you didn’t listen?”
“On the weekends I sometimes like to stay up late.”
“You are forgetting you promised to go help Jamie and me clean up the gym.”
“Crap…how could I forget that?”
“I don’t know. How could you forget it?” I asked as I pulled the covers off of Teddy’s face. “Time for you to get a shower mister.”
“Alright…fine,” Teddy said as he threw off the covers and got out of bed.
-Wherever You Are-
“You two are late,” Jamie sarcastically said as Teddy and I entered the gym.
“We couldn’t help it. Theodore here was keeping us behind,” I laughed as I put my purse down so that I could start helping take down streamers and banners.
“You blame everything on me,” Teddy laughed as he took of his jacket and draped it over my purse.
“Well, this time it was actually your fault…and you know it. Then again, you can’t really help that you like to stay up until the early morning hours. I honestly don’t see how you can do it,” I continued to say as I took off a few tablecloths.
“I don’t see how I do it either. I’m surprised my not going to sleep until the wee morning hasn’t caught up with me. One of these days I’m going to get payback for it, but until then I’m going to enjoy it.”
“It may never catch up with you. You never know,” I replied with a mischievous smile on my face.
-Wherever You Are-
The clean up process had finished, and I was now back at my house with Teddy.
“You know our parents have planned a day out bowling,” Teddy said as we were greeted by Mason at the front door.
“Since when did this come about?” I asked as I picked Mason up off of the floor.
“Our moms must have been planning this while we were out cleaning up. My mom just sent me a text and said we were going out bowling whenever the two of us got back.”
“They must have. I wonder why my mom didn’t call me and let me know about this.”
“It seems as if you left your phone here,” Teddy said as he pointed to the living room table where my cell phone was sitting.
“I don’t see how I could be so stupid and leave my phone at home.”
“Everyone does it at least once in their life. Heck, I do it at least once a week…maybe even twice if I’m on a roll.”
“Well, I guess I’m going to run upstairs and get another shower. You can just do whatever as long as it keeps you out of my room while I’m showering. Got it?”
“I think I can handle that.”
“You had better be able to handle it,” I laughed as I walked up the stairs.
-Wherever You Are-
As I walked out into my bedroom, I noticed Teddy was sitting at my computer.
“You didn’t follow my orders,” I said as I placed my hand onto my hip.
“Oops…I failed to mention to you that I’m not very good with following people’s orders,” Teddy shrugged. “I like the robe. It’s totally you.”
“It would be nice if you never said ‘totally you’ again. It just didn’t sound like something you would actually say.”
“Would you prefer if I said that’s lovely? Or would you prefer if I said mad dope?”
“If I had to choose between the two…”
“You have to choose.”
“Since I have to choose, my choice would be that’s lovely…even though it doesn’t sound like you either.”
“Just get used to me saying it because now that you chose it, I will probably be saying it a lot.”
-Wherever You Are-
“Are you any good at bowling?” Teddy asked me as we walked into the bowling alley with our families for a little friendly competition.
“I used to be, but I haven’t been in a while so I really don’t know. What about you?” I asked as we stood at the counter getting our bowling shoes.
“Let’s just say you should be very afraid. I like to say I’m the best in my family.”
“Right…” I laughed as I took my shoes and headed for the lane we were going to be on.
-Wherever You Are-
“Looks like my family is ahead by a couple of points,” Teddy bragged as I picked up my ball and got ready for my turn.
“We still have two more rounds of this game left. It’s my turn. You better be getting ready to clean up these bowling shoes,” I laughed.
“It sounds like someone is trying to make a bet with me. Are you? If you are, I am so up for a bet. Let’s say the person from the losing family has to ask someone from the bowling alley out on a date.”
“You have a deal. It would be wise if you were to go on and start looking at the lovely ladies that are here. It seems as if you will be asking one of them on a date.”
“We shall see,” Teddy said as I began to bowl what could end up being the decider of this bowling match.
-Wherever You Are-
“The game is over,” Teddy said as he walked over to my family’s lane. “It looks like my family won the match. This means YOU have got to ask someone from this bowling alley out.”
“I have already got the perfect guy,” I replied with a smile.
“Go find him.”
“Teddy…I was wondering if you’d like to rent a few movies and come watch them in my entertainment room. What do you say?”
“Hey, that isn’t fair.”
“You never specified that it couldn’t be you who I asked. After all, you are a boy who is in the bowling alley at this moment.”
“Right…I forgot to mention that one minor detail.”
“So, do you accept my offer or not?”
“Sure…I will accept your offer. Who is going to pay for the movies?”
“Well, I’m going to pay for the movies. I am the one who asked you on the date so I’m going to pay for everything.”
“Okay. Are we going to go out to eat with the rest of our families?”
“Do you want to eat with them?”
“It would be nice if we went. This way they wouldn’t be mad at us for skipping out. After all, they did say this was a family day out.”
“Okay…in that case we had better be moving. It looks like they are going to beat us to the restaurant.”
-Wherever You Are-
The day of family fun and outings had come to an end. Teddy and I were now back at Teddy’s house watching some of the movies we rented.
“Which movie did you just put in?” Teddy asked as I sat back down on the couch.
“I think it was ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman’. It has to be one of my favorite comedic movies of all time. Tyler Perry is simply hilarious and extremely talented,” I replied as I put a blanket back over my legs.
“I’m not so sure if I have seen that one before.”
“It is really good. I’m sure you will enjoy it.”
-Wherever You Are-
The last movie we rented had ended. As the ending credits were rolling, Teddy got up and went off into some other room. He had yet to come back.
“How about we play a rousing game of Yahtzee?” Teddy asked as he shook the box in my face.
“Sure, I’ll play you a game or two. You have NO idea what you are getting yourself into though. I happen to be the Yahtzee champion of my family,” I laughed as I threw the blanket off of my legs.
“We will just have to see if you can hold your title after our game.”
“I’ll definitely be holding my title after our game. There is no WAY you can beat me.”
“There are some ways I can beat you, but we won’t discuss that. I’ll try and take it easy on you. I cannot promise that this will be a very friendly game.”
“Oh, you can BET it will be no less than a friendly game.”
“Yeah…what did you just say?” Teddy laughed as we walked into the dining room area of his house.
“Never mind what I just said. Let’s play this game and get it over with. It’s getting late, and I’m starting to get tired. You are forgetting that I still have to drive home.”
“I will drive you home because my car is at your house anyways.”
“Is it? I must not have been paying any attention to it.”
“Someone is getting very sleepy. You are just completely out of it. How could you forget that my car was parked IN your driveway right next to your moms?”
“I don’t know if I will be able to make it through this Yahtzee game.”
“We will just see.”
-Wherever You Are-
“Good night,” Teddy said as he kissed my forehead and pulled the covers up over my shoulders.
“Huh?” I asked as I started to rub my eyes.
“It’s just me…Teddy. You fell asleep during the middle of Yahtzee. I drove you home and brought you up to your bedroom. Call me tomorrow whenever you wake up. We’ll try to figure out something to do.”
“Okay.”
“Good night,” Teddy said as he kissed my forehead again.
