Chapter 7
An hour had passed since Teddy's show had ended, and we were still in the mall. Neither Teddy nor I had gotten anything, yet. For the most part of the hour we sat in the food court eating cookies and drinking our slushies.
"Where to now?" I asked as we walked around. "Oh, what about Hollister? I need to go there and get a track jacket."
"I was kind of leaning towards American Eagle, but we can go to Hollister first. It's closer than AE anyways."
"If you want to go to AE then we can go there first. I don't care where we go as long as we sometime get to Hollister."
"Let's just go to Hollister first. We are right here at it so it would make sense if we did."
"Okay," I said as we walked inside Hollister.
-Confidence-
Walking out of Hollister, I couldn't do anything but laugh. For the longest time Teddy and I were shoved into one of the tiny fitting rooms because some girls were chasing Teddy. Finally Mark came, and now we were stuck with him for the rest of the time we were in the mall.
"Does he have to be everywhere we go?" I asked Teddy as we walked towards American Eagle.
"Unless you want to be shoved into another fitting room then yes, he has to be everywhere we go," Teddy replied as he got closer to me.
"Actually, I didn't mind being shoved into the fitting room. We could have had fun in there."
"Kourtni!"
"Teddy, I didn't mean like that! I meant we could have acted like it and fooled people. Then they would've left you alone."
"Ha, that would have been a good thing to do. Too bad we didn't think of it before."
"I know. I would have killed to see the faces on the girls if we did do that," I laughed as Teddy put his arm around me.
"Teddy," Mark said.
"Mark," Teddy replied.
"Your mom told me that if you two got too close then I was to separate you," Mark said as he took Teddy's arm off of my shoulder.
"Not cool," Teddy said as we walked in American Eagle.
"I say we ditch him," I whispered so Mark couldn't hear me.
"Where would we go?"
"I know a place we could go that he would never follow us into."
"Where?"
"Just follow me," I said taking hold of Teddy's hand and running for the door.
-Confidence-
Teddy and I were running full speed around the corner. I spotted the store I was looking for and came to a halt, then turned to run into the store.
"You have got to be kidding me," Teddy said when he saw what store it was. "I am not going in there."
"If you do not want Mark following us then I suggest you get in here. He wouldn't ever step foot in here. If anything he'll get your mom to come after us," I replied as I jerked Teddy inside of the store. "Plus, I had to go here anyways."
"What did I get myself into?" Teddy asked shaking his head.
-Confidence-
For the first time, since the concert had ended, Teddy and I had a few minutes of quiet by ourselves when we were inside Victoria's Secret. We had decided we should probably go find his mom.
"Mom probably has security out all over the mall," Teddy said as we ran to find his mom.
"Wait...Teddy, I can't run anymore," I said as I sat down on a bench.
"What's wrong?"
"I feel sick," I replied as Teddy sat on the bench next to me.
"That cannot be good."
"No...it can be good," I said as I kissed Teddy then stood up. "I'm fine now. Let's go," I said grabbing Teddy's hand. "Come on!"
"Okay," Teddy laughed as he got up, and we started to run again.
-Confidence-
Rounding the corner to where Teddy had earlier performed, we spotted his mom. She was on her phone, but when she saw us she immediately hung up. It looked as if she was furious with us.
"Teddy Geiger, where in the world have you been?" his mom asked walking up to us.
"You probably don't want to know," Teddy replied.
"Please don't tell me you two locked yourselves in the bathroom."
"Mom, no. The bathroom is like right there anyways."
"Then where were you two at?"
"Do you really want to know?"
"Stop this nonsense Teddy! Tell me where the two of you were now. You are already in trouble as it is. Don't get yourself into more."
"Okay, whatever mom. We were in Victoria's Secret."
"What were you doing in there?"
"Kourtni had to get something."
"Okay. Now explain something else to me, please. Why did you two ditch Mark?"
"Mom, I wanted to be by myself with Kourtni. I didn't want to be followed around by a security guard all day. I was trying to be nice by putting my arm around her but Mark snatched my arm off of her shoulder."
"I told him to do that if you two got too close."
"Mom! How could you honestly do something like that? You know I like her."
"If you liked her then you would explain to her that the only time she can see you is at school."
"That's crap mom," Teddy yelled walking off.
"You are not allowed around him anymore," Teddy's mom said to me.
"You are not allowed to tell me what I can and cannot do. You aren't my mom or my dad."
"I am an adult and you do have to listen to me."
"No, I don't have to listen to you. You are not my parent!"
"Who cares if I'm your parent? I am still an adult who you have to obey!"
"I am tired of this. I'm leaving," I said walking towards the double doors. Before I got too far I turned back around. "Oh...if Teddy decides to speak to you again, tell him it was nice getting to know him."
-Confidence-
"As of now neither of us are talking to each other. Melissa, I don't know what I am going to do," I said as I sat in my room crying.
"Call him up and talk to him," Melissa replied as she handed me a tissue.
"I cannot call him for fear his mom will answer and like be rude to me. She has already made me angry enough. The only time we are allowed to see each other is at school."
"That is not fair. Can she really do that?"
"She did," I started to say but stopped when I thought I heard someone at my bedroom door. "She can and she did it. My life as I know it is over," I continued to cry as I threw my face onto a pillow.
I heard my door open, but didn't look up. Melissa could handle whoever it was.
"Uh Kourtni...I am going to leave now," she said as I heard the door shut.
"You can't leave! Then I'll be by myself forever!"
"You won't be by yourself," I heard Teddy say.
"Teddy?"

Chapter 8
"What are you doing here? Does your mom know you are here? Isn't she going to hurt you for being here?" I hurriedly asked as I stood in front of Teddy, who I thought wasn't supposed to be here.
"As of five minutes ago, she doesn't care about me being here," Teddy replied.
"What are you talking about? You had better get home before she comes and finds you. I don't want her yelling at you in front of me," I said pushing Teddy out of my room.
"Kourtni, stop! I talked things over with my mom. She came to the realization that I should be allowed to hang with you outside of school."
"What? You have to be kidding me!"
"No, I am not kidding. But...she kind of only let me over here under one condition."
"What's the condition?"
"I have to tell you something."
"What? Please don't tell me you are moving away."
"No, not quite. I do have to leave though."
"WHAT? Oh, no you cannot leave me Teddy! Please don't leave me."
"I am not leaving you."
"Then how are you leaving but not leaving me?"
"You're going with me."
"But how am I going with you? I have to go to school."
"You are going with me to school."
"I'm lost."
"We are making my video at school...come on."
-Confidence-
Minutes ago I was at my house, and now I was at the school. Teddy said we were supposed to be shooting his video, but I thought I remembered Teddy telling me the management team didn't like me being in it. Maybe they had changed their minds.
"I thought someone besides me was supposed to be in it," I said as Teddy and I walked down the hallways of school.
"Would you believe me if I said I talked them into letting you be in this video?" Teddy asked as we stopped in front of the principal's office.
"Actually, I would believe you. Did you really do that?"
"Yes, I did."
"Why? You acted like you wanted someone else in the video."
"I didn't want anyone else in the video. You were the only person I wanted in this video. So, you want to know why I talked them into casting you?"
"Yes, why?"
"This might sound a little crazy, but I...I think I love you."
"WHAT? No. You can't love me. We've only known each other for like a week, maybe not even that long. Are you serious?"
"It is possible. Haven't you heard of love at first sight? Don't you believe in it?"
"I have heard of it, but I don't believe in it. That is kind of stupid to believe in."
"I didn't believe in it until I saw you. You've changed me in so many ways."
"Teddy and Kourtni, let's go! We have a video to shoot," Teddy's mom yelled from the opposite end of the hall.
-Confidence-
Teddy and I were now in a classroom full of people from school. He was in the back while I sat in the front with some girls I knew. We were waiting for the director to come in and explain the scene to us.
"Everyone I need you to listen," the director said as he walked into the room. "So, here is the basic idea. This is just going to be like a normal school day. We are going to have a teacher, and you all are going to appear to be doing some type of work. Kourtni...you are going to be running late to class. You are going to walk in as we have the fake bell ringing. Once she walks in Teddy's friends are going to like start throwing paper at him, and basically just make him blush."
"Got it," I smiled as I got up and walked out of the classroom.
-Confidence-
"Where are we going Teddy?" I asked as Teddy led me behind the school. "Shouldn't we be inside getting ready for the next scene?"
"No. The next scene is being shot out here. I designed part of where this scene takes place. The director and everyone else wanted me to show you before we started shooting. He says it's possible you might get a little emotional," Teddy said as he came to a stop and stood directly in front of me. "We are almost there. Until we get where we are shooting the scene, I'm going to have my hands over your eyes so you don't see. Got it?"
"I think."
-Confidence-
"Okay. We are here now," Teddy said as we both came to a stop. "In three seconds I am going to take my hands off of your eyes, and I am going to let you see the area. Are you ready?"
"I am as ready as I will ever be," I sighed knowing I had no other choice.
Teddy quickly slipped his hands away from my eyes. Once I had opened my eyes I noticed we were on the football field. This was nothing special, but when I turned around I thought I was going to start crying.
"Wow," was all I managed to say.
For some odd reason Teddy had gone all out and made this awesome stage. On the actually stage there was this huge projection screen.
"What's the screen for?" I asked pointing to it.
"Wait until we start shooting the video. You'll find out then," Teddy said as we walked over and sat in some chairs.
-Confidence-
The director was finally set up outside. It was now time for me to find out what the screen was for. Before the director started recording, Teddy slipped his arm around me. I couldn't think of anything else to do but lay my head on his shoulder.
Seconds later the projection screen came on. It was the last scene of the first video, the scene from the pool. The video was short, and after it ended Teddy got up on the stage and started to play his guitar and sing along with the words.
I sat back in my chair and cried and smiled all at once. What was a girl to think about this? How was I ever going to pay him back? There was no way I could beat this.
-Confidence-
Video shooting had finally come to end. I was walking out to my car by myself since Teddy had stayed back to watch what had been shot. As I approached my car, I heard an ambulance's sirens going off. When I looked up I noticed it was pulling up next to the school.
Knowing Teddy could be the one hurt, I threw my things into my car and ran back inside the school. Once I had gotten back inside, I saw Teddy being lifted onto a stretcher. What could he have possibly done to be getting put onto a stretcher?
"What happened?" I asked when I walked up to Teddy's mom. "Is he okay?"
"He tripped and knocked his head on the edge of one of the desks. We think he is going to be okay. We just called the ambulance just to make sure nothing is wrong with him," his mom replied. "I will get Teddy's phone and call you whenever we find something out. Okay? You can go on home if you would like."
"Okay, thanks. I hope he is okay," I said hugging Teddy's mom. "Be careful on your way home. Bye," I attempted to smile, then turned and walked back outside.
