Chapter 3

Ashley cooked meatballs and fried chickens for dinner but Teddy didn't come home even it was after 11 at night. She sat outside the house on the staircase in front of the door, waiting for Teddy. It was a cold night but she was wearing only t-shirt and short. She did some exercises to warm up herself and when she got tired, she slept in front of the door.

When Teddy arrived at home, he tried to wake her up by shaking her a few times but she didn't move. Only mumbled a few times. He touched her forehead with his palm. She was very warm. "Why are you always like this! Never think of yourself!" he muttered carrying her into the living room and placed her on the couch. He thought that was better because he hadn't buy her a bed yet. He then walked to the bathroom to get her a wet towel to put on her forehead.

The next morning when Teddy woke up, he decided to make her porridge. Though he didn't like her, he thought he had responsible to take care of her. "Ashley, wake up!" he bent a little closer to her to shake her. "Wake up!! You have to clean this house."
"I don't want," she mumbled pushing his hands with her eyes still close.
"Hey, wake up! Why did you sleep outside in short?" he asked complaining. "Ash! Wake up!"
"I don't want! I SAID I DON'T WANT!" she shouted pulling his hair. Teddy screamed loudly trying to get her hands off of his hair. It was really hurt until his face turned red.
"Wake up! I made you porridge!" he yelled telling her the truth why he wanted her to wake up after she let him go. Muttering, Teddy walked to the kitchen and took a bowl of porridge and a glass of plain water for her. At first he tried to feed her and he actually did for couple of times but then she bit his right hand. She didn't want to eat.
"Fine! Eat it yourself! I'm going to the studio!" he yelled again putting the bowl on the coffee table. "She's the craziest person I'll ever married to," he mumbled to himself as he walked to his car. That night he came home early to have dinner at home but when he crossed the living room, he saw Ashley still sleeping on the couch. The lights were off until he turned it on a few minutes earlier. He walked closer to see her. She looked so pale. Teddy touched her left cheek and found out she was a lot warmer than the night before. He became worried and immediately took her to the hospital. He spent the night taking care of her at the hospital but he left early morning before she woke up. He actually went to meet Jessie.

"You give up too fast!" said Jesse to Teddy sarcastically.
"No. I didn't!" he replied defending himself.
"How's your life then? Living with the person you don't love. I know you love Amy a lot better."
"I.. actually... Ashley's in hospital. she's ill," he changed the topic confidently.
"Why didn't you tell me? I won't ask you to come here if I knew it!"
"She'll be OK there. It's hospital, not a mall," he rolled his eyes when Ashely's face ran through his mind. Whenever he heard that name, he could only imagine Ashley babbling at him.
"Amy's in the hospital too. That one near here."
"She is?" he asked for a sure answer. Jesse nodded. "I should go visit her!" Teddy left the table and rushed to the hospital.

Ashley was getting better and she was allowed to go home that afternoon. She took slow steps walking on the hospital corridor. Suddenly she saw Teddy running on the same corridor. She thought Teddy was there to meet her but after he passed beside her, she noticed Teddy didn't even saw her walking there. But then, she followed him until Teddy entered the room that wasn't hers. She looked inside the room through the glass on the door. She had a little disappointed feeling when she saw Teddy held Amy hand and his other hand stroking through her hair. A moment later Amy smiled after Teddy said something to her.

"What took you so long?" Amy asked pouting her lips.
"I didn't know you were here. I'm sorry," he smiled. "How are you feeling now?"
"Better when you came," she replied smiling.
"Hey,guys!" Jesse entered the room.
"Hi!" Ashley and Teddy replied in unison.
"Ashley, come on in. Why are still standing there?" asked Jesse looking at Ashley standing outside the room. Ashley entered the room with a tiny smile.
"Hi, Ashley," Amy smiled greeting her and hid her jealousy.
"Are you coming home today?" asked Teddy to Ashley.
Why would you care. Ashley thought.
"What are you thinking? She's your wife and you're worrying about someone else," Jesse complained about the way Teddy treat his wife.
"She's nobody to you! So mind your own business! Weren't you the one who made Amy stress? Huh?" Teddy replied.
"If you think I don't know her, you're wrong! She was my girlfriend. I knew her better than you do! You're just lucky I didn't take her virgin." Jesse said louder. He couldn't control his voice. He was really angry when Teddy said that. "But I let her go because I trusted you like my own brother!"
Teddy bit his lips, speechless. He didn't know about that. Ashley started feeling guilty.
"I should go," Ashley mumbled. She left the room.
"I'm riding you home," Jesse said smiling walking beside her. She didn't really want to think about Teddy and Amy.

"Let's go to Disneyland," Ashley said as Jesse started driving.
"Pardon," he couldn't believe his ears. He thought she had to be sad to know about Teddy and Amy.
"Disneyland! I don't want to go home early. I hate to be there!" she muttered.
"OK..." he nodded smiling.
"Don't you think I'm funny because I left you for that type of person?" she chuckled. Jesse couldn't stop smiling then. He liked her that way. Talking and complaining all the time. He loved her. Still. "He's a crazy psycho!" she continued. "He wants me to cook, clean the house, do the laundry. And whenever he's at home, he only knows to eat and sleep. Or he would sit with his guitars, piano, papers and threw used papers on the floor. He's so annoying!"
"He's your husband." Jesse grinned.
"His wife is music and his girlfriend is Amy," she rolled her eyes.
Jesse felt guilty when he heard 'Amy'. "It's awkward to talk about you and Teddy. Do you remember the last time we went out together and we were talking about us? How different the lives," he smiled as he recalled their memories when they were still together. "Now I can't wait to see how your baby would look like," he laughed.
"Oh! Don't ever think about that!" she laughed with him.
"If you still want to be a writer, I can make a new section in my magazine for you. You can start read your article in the October's issue," he changed the topic.
"Really? But I'm not a good writer. You know that. I got rejected a few times," she laughed at herself. She knew she didn't have talent on writing but she wanted to be a writer so badly.
"Write something good. I'll put that in my magazine. I give you two days. 1000 words. Write about anything you want!" he replied. He wanted to win her heart back. He didn't want to see Teddy break her heart.
Ashly nodded smiling. She thought that was a good opportunity for her to get one step near to her ambition.

After they went to Disneyland, Jesse took Ashley for dinner and only dropped her at home around nine. Teddy was waiting for her. "Where did you go?" he asked crossing his hands as he saw her entered the house. Ashley didn't answer him and walked to the kitchen. Teddy went closer to her. "I'm starving," he kept his voice slow and gave her a smile.
"I left you seafood salad in the fridge. Why didn't you eat them?" she asked.
"I waited for you to come home and cook for me," he smiled replied to her. "I just want some fried chickens," he winked.
"I cooked that and you didn't come home," she muttered.
"I'm sorry. I want it now," he grinned. She rolled her eyes.

"Amy doesn't like me. Isn't she?" she started talking while Teddy was waiting. She took a sit in front of him. "I don't like her too. She always acts like she's a princess. She loves giving orders. I don't understand why you like her so much!"
"Don't talk bad about her. You don't know her," Teddy replied.
"But she is! She thinks she's pretty!"
"ASHLEY! STOP IT!" he yelled and glared at her.
"Wow! You look so pissed!" she laughed at him. "OK, OK! Do you want to hear a joke?" she asked smiling. Teddy rolled his eyes and ignored her. He continued eating. "Don't be silly," he mumbled.
"How would you put an elephant in a bag?" she asked.
"Elephant is big!" he answered her.
"Daaa... You're wrong! The answer is unzip the bag, put the elephant inside, and zip it back!" she laughed explaining the answer. "How to put a tapir into a bag?" she asked the same question with different animal.
"I told you, you can't put big animals in bags!" he replied.
"Hah! Wrong again! You should answer 'unzip the bag, take out the elephant, put the tapir inside, and zip it back'!" she laughed again. "OK! An overweight aeroplane had to throw an unused stuff. What do you think they would throw?"
"You!" he laughed. "You're overweight!"
Ashley glared at him and mumbled,"I'm only 45 kg! They throw the bag" She rolled her eyes. "There was a fisherman in the boat, suddenly he faint. Why?"
"He saw you!" he laughed again made fun of her.
"Wrong! Because the bag fell on him!" she laughed for an umpteenth time. Teddy rolled his eyes. He didn't like the answer.
"You're so silly!" grinning, he insinuate her.
"But you laughed!" she smiled.

Chapter 4

Ashley sat in her room since after she finished her chores that morning. She was actually trying to get an idea to write her article. And Teddy was sitting on his piano bench practicing his songs.

Do you remember when we used to get together hold hands and stay together, baby
How do we get back to that place?
I said...

The house bell suddenly rang. Teddy opened the door and saw a couple standing outside the door. "Who are you?" Teddy asked.
"I'm Amber! This is my husband, Dan! We are Ashley's friends," she introduced excitedly. Teddy nodded.
"Come in," he opened the door wider letting them in and left them in the living room while he went to Ashley room.
"Ash! Open the door!" Teddy knocked in the door. "Come out now!"
"I'm busy! Don't bother me!" she shouted from the inside.
"Open the door!" he knocked on the door again.
"Teddy Geiger! Stop shouting!" she shouted.
"Your friends are here!" he replied and left the room. When he walked back to the living room, Amber and Dan weren't there anymore. Teddy walked to the kitchen as he heard the couple laughing. He got mad when he saw Jake was wearing the t-shirt he hung outside the house and they were eating the fruits from the fridge.
"What are you doing? That's my t-shirt. Take it off now!" Teddy yelled.
"I just want to feel how it feels like being in your t-shirt," Dan replied grinning.
"Take this off!" Teddy pulled the t-shirt but then Amber went closer to defend her husband.
"Don't you dare touch him!" she started fighting with Teddy but Teddy didn't fight her back. At the same time Ashley appeared and saw Amber scratched Teddy's face.
"What are you doing?" Ashley pulled Amber. She then glanced at Teddy's face and saw blood on his left cheek. "Look what you've done to my husband's handsome face!" she muttered wiping the blood with her palm.
"He pulled the t-shirt Dan's wearing!" Amber replied.
"That's Teddy's! Take it off now and leave! I don't want to see you here!" Ashley yelled. Dan pulled the t-shirt off of his body and gave it to Teddy.
"Oh, come on! We're best friends!" Amber smiled.
"Best friends,huh?" Ashley grinned. "Then why'd you sell the house we share without telling me?" she asked yelling.
"Hah! You won't meet him if we didn't do that!"
"Oh yeah? Get out now! Get out! Get out!" she pushed them to door.

"Why did you let her scratched your face?" Ashley asked putting iodine on Teddy's scar.
"I won't fight with a girl!" Teddy replied.
"I'm a girl and you fight with me almost everyday," she complained.
"Eh, really? I'm your handsome husband?" he asked grinning.
Ashley rolled her eyes. "I didn't mean it!" she pinched his cheek.
"Ouch! That was hurt!" he yelled. "Don't do it again. Just put some more medicine," he smiled begging. Ashley put a plaster on it. "You should start packing. We are going to New York this evening. I have a show to perform. So.. Quick! Quick!"
"You told me just now?" she pinched his cheek again.
"Ouch!" he parried her hand. "I wanted to told you last night but you were busy with you tapir joke!"
Excitedly she asked, "Will Evan be there too?"
Teddy rolled his eyes. You can't like Evan! He thought.

Teddy had a show to perform on the next evening in Rochester. Ashley didn't want to go watch him on the show so she went to the mall alone for window shopping. It was unexpected for her to meet Teddy's mum on the shoes store.
"Good evening, Mrs Geiger!" Ashley greet her.
"Hi Ashley! Why are you calling me Mrs. Geiger when you know you're too? You should call me mum," she replied.
"Mum. Hi, mum!" she replied.
"Are you alone here?"
"Yeah. Teddy has a show tonight. I don't want to disturb his fans," she lied. She didn't want to go with him.
"Where's your wedding ring?" Mrs Geiger pointed her finger to Ashley's finger.
Ashley grinned. "Oh! I left it at home! I didn't want to lose it. I'm absent minded sometimes," she lied again.
"Oh, you shouldn't take off your wedding ring," she advised. "Anyway, do you want to come to our house? We can chat more there," Mrs. Geiger invited her. Ashley nodded smiling.

After the show Teddy went to the hotel quiet early and found out Ashley wasn't there. At first he felt relief but then he felt lonely. He took out his cell phone from his right pocket wanting to call Ashley to know where she was but he was hesitating. Suddenly he got a call from Amy.
"Hi, Ted! Can we meet now. Going for dinner or whatever," said Amy.
"I'm in Rochester now. I'm sorry," he replied.
"Oh, you're there with Ashley?" her voice changed. She sounded sad.
"Yeah. She supposed to be here but I don't know where she is now. I told her not to go anywhere. But I think she's at the mall."
"She's still with you? I thought she would leave you after all.You know..."
"She's fine. We're fine. I think we shouldn't meet so often."
Amy didn't reply him. She felt disappointed when she heard that. She just hung up the call wishing Teddy would call her back but he didn't. He still wanted to wait for Ashley to call him but after a few minutes he decided to call her. He couldn't wait anymore.

"Where are you?" he asked as she picked up the call.
"Oh my God! It's 10 o'clock already. I should go to bed!" Ashley replied.
"Ashley, where are you?" he repeated his question.
"In your room!"
"Stop joking! I'm in my room,"
"This bed still smells like you," she giggled.
"You're in Pittsford?"
"I met your mum and she invited me to come here and I said yes. At least I have a bed to sleep on tonight!"
Teddy sighed. "Do you want me to pick you there?" he asked. "You can use the bed here," his voice turned slower.
"Oh, big Teddy needs me there," she joked.
"Hey! Who said that? You have to serve me breakfast tomorrow and I was waiting for you to come back here and serve me dinner!" he covered his feeling. "And why would I need you here, chicken?"
"I know what I'm doing, bird! Can't you stop yelling when you're hungry? Do you think you're a baby who cried for food when he's hungry?" she yelled back and ended the call.
"I'm just feeling a little lonely," Teddy mumbled to his cell phone. He then called her again.
"What do you want, Teddy?" she asked.
"Amber and Dan. You lived with them before?"
"Yeah... They were my best friends. Basically, I grew up with them after my parents gone but I don't know why they sold our house. That couple really has to pay back!"
"You're a gangster too? Like that Amber? Shoot! I had to answer my fans when they asked me why I got plaster on my cheek."
"I'm not gangster..." she mumbled replying him. "Did you tell them she scratched you?"
"I told them you scratched me on bed," he said and started giggling.

Chapter 5

When they got back to LA, Ashley rushed to Jesse's office to send her article.
"You're three days late," said Jesse.
"Yeah, I know! I'm sorry! But please read it first!" she begged. She handed him her envelope. Jesse took it and started reading her article she put inside it. A few minutes later he gave her a grin face.
"I knew it! It sucks! I know it would be funny if I you put it in your magazine. That's the ugliest article ever written!" she muttered.
"It's quiet good actually," he chuckled as he said it. "I could understand your point, but still need to be edit. I hope you don't mind."
She nodded smiling. She had something else to ask him. "Can't you love Amy even just for once?" she suddenly questioned him.
"Wh...What? Why?"
"She's taking Teddy..." she mumbled and sighed then.
"I thought you love me," he shrugged.
"I am... Less," she mumbled again. "A little less."
"He's still going out with her?"
"What else could you think? She wanted to sponsor his clothes for every formal occasion," she put a little smile on her face.
"Then you should start going out with me again. He doesn't deserve you if he doesn't want to appreciate you."
She didn't replied. She was confuse. Jesse moved sitting next to her and put his hand around her shoulders. "Leave him," he whispered and kissed her cheek but she eventually pushed him away gently. "Just give me sometimes," she replied.
"Are you accepting his threat?"
"I didn't say that! Just give me sometimes. I just want to help him," she answered smiling, playing with her wedding ring she wore that day. She walked off leaving the building. She decided to take a walk crossing Amy's boutique which was at the same street but unfortunately, she saw Teddy's car outside at the parking lot in front of the boutique. She looked over into the boutique and saw Amy and Teddy were laughing. She took out her cell phone and called Jesse. "Do you want to start dating me again now?" she asked.
"Yeah! That would be cool, sweetie," Jesse replied with a happy voice. "Mind for a dinner tonight?"
"Ashley!" Teddy called her from her back. Ashley quickly ended the call. "Are you stalking me?" he asked grinning.
"Oh! Do you think I'd do that? I'm not your stalker!" she rolled her eyes, keeping her cell phone inside her handbag. Then Amy walked to his car and stood by it. "You're not going to celebrate your birthday with me? It's your birthday right?"
"Uhm... no!" he chuckled. "Don't wait for me. I'll be late," he continued as he slid onto the driver's seat.
"Uh... Teddy! I'm going to cook buffalo wing for dinner." She bit her lips waiting for him to answer. She made him thinking at least.
"Better taste good! I'll be home early," Teddy grinned. Ashley smiled as she thought she won him over Amy.

As she promised, she had served buffalo wings for dinner. She actually got the recipes from Teddy's mum when they went to New York. But Teddy brought Amy to join them that night. "Why is she here?" she asked whispering to Teddy while they left Amy in the dining room.
"Why not? You said you wanted to celebrate my birthday," Teddy whispered back.
"I'm dating Jesse," she smiled telling him the fact.
Teddy sighed. "You can't date him!"
"Why would you care? I'll leave you in the next few months!" she replied still in whisper. "I'm inviting him!" she ran to her bedroom to get her cell phone and called Jesse to invite him. She made them waited for Jesse until he arrived 30 minutes later. They gathered in the dining room but everyone didn't want to say anything. They felt awkward to sit and shared the same table for a dinner. Ashley didn't like Amy, Jesse didn't like the way Teddy threat Ashley, Teddy didn't like Jesse and Amy didn't like Ashley and still had a feeling for Jesse.
Teddy put his arm around Ashley's shoulder. "You'll pay back this awkward situation!" Teddy whispered.
"I love you too!" Ashley kissed his cheek faking their bad conversation. Ashley smiled as she noticed Amy glared at her.
"Alright! Let's eat!" Teddy changed their mood.
"Actually I have a good news!" Ashley grinned as she got an idea to prank them.
"What now?" Teddy asked and drank his water then.
"I'm pregnant your baby!" she replied. Teddy accidentally spit on Amy who was sitting in front of him. Amy screamed and became angry with Ashley.
"I'm going home now!" she got up and left the kitchen and finally the house. And Jesse turned then. Walking out frustrated.

"Sorry I made you messed your birthday!" Ashley grinned.
"What were you thinking? Pregnant? We never had sex!" Teddy complained.
"I was joking but you spit on your girlfriend's face right before I told the truth!" she giggled.
"She's not my girlfriend," Teddy mumbled replying her. He rolled his eyes and glared at her.
"She can't take Jesse from me!"
"Jesse can't take Amy from me!"
"Amy's not yours! Jesse doesn't even want that type of girl!"
"At first when I heard you talked to someone name Jesse on the phone before we married, I thought it was Jesse McCartney. Stupid guess!" he laughed.
"Did you... Oh! You're so bad!" she punched his arm.
"McCartney..." he laughed again.

* * *

Four months later, their relationship became more complicated as Ashley and Jesse broke up again. Ashley made Amy kept chasing Jesse while he kept chasing Ashley. And Teddy still waiting for Amy. But Jesse and Ashley still together as good friends. While Teddy already gone since two months ago for his last tour for that year, Amy went to meet Ashley at their house decided to 'pay a visit'. Lucky for her Ashley had let her in.
"Can't you just leave Teddy alone?" Ashley asked.
"I'm not going to do that crazy thing! He promised not to let me go until I let him go," Amy replied.
"But you don't love him!"
"Are you?" she asked rolling her eyes. "Do you want to compete with me who can win his heart?" she questioned Ashley.
Ashley didn't answer her. She thought that was the toughest thing she would ever do. Amy stood up getting ready to leave. "I would!" said Amy grinning and walked to the door.
Ashley still didn't move and started thinking how much Teddy loved Amy. "I'm not that strong," she mumbled.

* * *

When Teddy arrived a week later Ashley didn't cook anything for dinner. She locked herself for a week in that house. She didn't even went out to meet Jesse to send her article. "Ashley! Get out of there!" Teddy shouted knocking on her door. She opened the door.
"What do you want, Teddy?" she asked.
"I bought this for you," he handed her a gold dress.
"For what?" she took the dress.
"Tomorrow. Album promotion. You have to come," he explained.
"Thanks a lot for using me," she grinned.
"You're using me too! To get a house!"
Ashley smiled. Teddy thought it was weird that she didn't start to argue. Ashley was collecting all her strength and confidence, throwing her scared feeling until she was ready to tell him.
"Teddy,I...I'm falling..." she then exhaled her deep breath. Her heart beat started pounding faster than she ever felt when she knew she had to repeat it because she didn't finished her sentence.
"Huh?" Teddy chuckled. He didn't understand what she meant.
"I think I'm falling for you," she finally spit the words.
